Doctor has just started me on them.
Just interested to know if you have taken them and if you found they helped. Some of the side effects sound a bit worrying but I have taken them as I am fed up with feeling so low (have been now on and off for 3 years).

Hi

I've been on citalopram on and off for the last 10 years due to divorce, and other family issues. At last I feel I have the confidence to manager without them and need advice on how to handle it. I take 20mg per day and the doctor has advised to take up to 6 months to come completely off, starting with 20mg for a couple of days then 10mg and doing it slowly like this. The problem is some days I feel great and think that I only need 10mg a day but then a couple of days later I regret this, can anyone help. My husband is either at work at the moment, which includes nights and up to his eyes in doing a degree and our lack of time together stresses me out. I really think I can handle my anxiety another way, exercise, healthy eating and staying positive, but I get scared I'll hit rock bottom again. I had some counselling which was excellent. Has anyone got any advice.

Just gone back on them after 10m off. Prior to that was on them for 3 years. When I first took them back in 2008 they made me feel 100% better almost immediately. THis time I haven't noticed any real difference as yet - nearly a month.

Side-effects - lethargy, weight-gain, constant running nose, no libido. If they don't start to make me feel a lot better soon I will be trying something else.
