Doctor has just started me on them.
Just interested to know if you have taken them and if you found they helped. Some of the side effects sound a bit worrying but I have taken them as I am fed up with feeling so low (have been now on and off for 3 years).

Hi Im new to this site, feeling low anyone around for a chat

kalex · 02/02/2005 18:08

Hi hempot. I'm Kalex, nice to meet you in a virtual sense

are you on citolpram?
I have been on and off and now very definately on (after I promised the Dr I wouldn;t stop taking them without a consultation) for a little over two years.

Actually only just seen this thread so shall go back and read.

Just didn't want you to think we were all ignoring you.

blueteddy · 02/02/2005 18:16

Think I need to go back on it.

blueteddy · 02/02/2005 18:33

Sorry. Hi hempot!

hempot · 03/02/2005 13:33

Hi everyone thanks for getting back to me. grin

hempot · 03/02/2005 13:34

still working out how to use this program!!

lunavix · 03/02/2005 14:07

I've now been on them - three weeks?

For the last 5 or 6 days I've been feeling worse than I did to start with. I don't know if it's been made worse by forgetting my thyroid medication for a while but I'm totally exhausted and keep crying at the thought of having to do anything (cleaning, shopping, work tonight...)

Ds isn't happy today either just grizzling and clambouring over me and I feel so guilty I don't have the energy for him

hempot · 03/02/2005 14:10

Oh dear poor you how old is little one?

lunavix · 03/02/2005 14:11

9 months

Titania · 03/02/2005 14:12

lunavix i am the same. been on them for 3 weeks now. I dont think i am feeling an awful lot better either tbh.

hempot · 03/02/2005 14:12

Is it ur first? So are you back at work then ? how u finding it

lunavix · 03/02/2005 14:18

I love staying at home with him, and I work evenings and weekends.

I've technically been depressed for years, prozac wasn't working so GP put me on citalopram. It does say after a few weeks you could be 'depressed and suicidal' but I really didn't think it'd be this bad.

hempot · 03/02/2005 17:19

I hope things get better I was once on prozac a couple years ago I have to say too it did absolutely nothing!

Do you find it hard going to work? What do you do?

SPARKLER1 · 04/02/2005 22:09

Glad I started this thread now. It's amazing how many people are taking ADs. Before I was taking them I never heard anyone mentioning them at all. As soon as I mentioned I had started them myself - so many people admitted to using them. I haven't been too bad in myself for the last two days. Hopefully the tabs are starting to kick in a bit now. Felt a bit down on and off but not constantly like before. Am feeling very, very tired though - not sure if that's a side effect of the Citilopram or not. Have had to go back to bed for a couple of hours for the past two afternoons.

It could well be a side affect of the tablets, but if that is the only symptom you are not getting on too bad with them!
Do you feel they are having an affect yet?

SPARKLER1 · 04/02/2005 22:16

I think they have kicked in a bit. Am not feeling 100% but certainly feel "calmer" IYKWIM. Still feeling a bit tearful on occasions but I am coping with the kids much better than I was.

Perhaps I'm feeling tired as the tablets are "relaxing" me. I am trying not to fight the tiredness though - am trying to rest when my body tells me too and when children allow. Dd feel asleep this morning (very unsual for her to take a day time nap) and I went to bed with her. There was loads of stuff to do around the house but I just left the lot. Before taking the tabs I would have forced myself to do everything and wouldn't have dreamed of resting.

Hi Sparkler, i find I'm yawning all the time especially when I drive!! ButI do feel calmer and as though my 'fuse' is slightly longer. Not working is definatley a bonus although I am 'actively' looking.
Good test this weekend, my two and his two???!!!!!

SPARKLER1 · 04/02/2005 22:29

Hi Kernowcat - glad to hear you are feeling better. Yep, 4 kids sounds like a good test to me. I'm hoping I will continue to improve as I am if not GP has said he will increase dose next time I see him. He has requested counselling for me too but there is a waiting list of a few months for this. Hopefully come the summer - I'll be a new me! Here's hoping anyway.

We're waiting for family counselling for my DSs' anger management! I'm not good at counselling as I've found in the past I tend to say what I think they want to hear or the 'right' answers!
Would love to be able to talk like I do here!!
You sound so much happier. Its great.

SPARKLER1 · 04/02/2005 22:59

Not sure if it will work for me as yet but am willing to to give it a try.
