@Helplessandheartbroke I'm so sorry for your bereavement. I'm glad you were able to catch up on some sleep.

Hey @Takemeback2thestart jk24 here new user name. I'm sorry you've had some health issues. Always here for a handhold.

@JamSandle hang in there! You're young. I'm a true believer of everything happens for a reason. Hope you're a little better tonight.

Glad others are doing well!

We had a family bereavement yesterday and I've not slept for over 30 hours so my anxiety all round is bad atm. Going to get some sleep. Sending solidarity ladies x

I had a better night and day but have sunk now. God I miss him so much.

Helplessandheartbroke · 09/06/2024 22:19

Hi everyone, hope it's ok to jump on here as really struggling with OCD at the moment. My mother who I do not have a good relationship with has invited herself round to my house without asking about my schedule and just expects to be accommodated and its made me so anxious I've been sat all morning with chattering teeth and heart palpitations due to stress. It brings back all my childhood trauma of being neglected by her. Also, and I know this is my OCD, I've convinced myself someone in my family is going to get seriously ill and die soon and I cannot stop thinking about it.
Just feeling like a mess today tbh

Helplessandheartbroke · 10/06/2024 11:26

@LifeonMarss hey and welcome! I'm sorry to hear you're having a bad day. Is telling her no an option? Is anyone with you for support?

Mine too. It feels like a permanent state.

Takemeback2thestart · 10/06/2024 18:48

sorry to hear you’re anxiety is bad right now @Helplessandheartbroke @fara20.
Does anything in particular trigger it? I’m definitely worst when I’m tired( which is most of the time!) Health anxiety and social anxiety are my main issues so anything related to that send me spiralling. I’m currently another cbt course and I’m being challenged quite a bit- I’m actually in two minds about quitting because of how hard I’m finding it and feel like I’m failing.
@LifeonMarss how did your afternoon go? I can sympathise with difficult family relationships.

fara20 · 10/06/2024 19:08

Hi @Takemeback2thestart for me it's a general fear of the future I think. Talking therapies booked me onto an online CBT course starting 25th, because everything else is long waiting times. I will give it a go. I didn't find it that beneficial when I did it a few years ago. Sometimes meditation helps but the effect wears off so quickly.

Takemeback2thestart · 10/06/2024 20:14

The waiting lists are so long, I was waiting a year for this course. I start to feel a bit better after a while then something happens and I feel like I’m back to square one. I’m absolutely rubbish at anything like meditation, I just find it almost impossible to turn my thoughts off.
The focus of my therapy at present is ( again) intolerance of uncertainty, which sounds a bit like what you might be feeling perhaps ? It’s hard to change a habit of a lifetime and I regularly wonder if I’ll ever reach a point where I feel at normal.

fara20 · 10/06/2024 21:20

Yes, meditation is hard! I've joined in a few online sessions on mindful meditation. We just did little short meditations. I found myself yawning after one of them, the relief of having a calm mind for a few minutes.
It is very hard to change the way our brains have become wired.

It went as well as can be expected, thankfully my DH was texting me throughout just to make sure I was okay. She didn’t ask me anything about myself and ignored me for her phone when I mentioned work. Trying to not let it upset me
I just feel so exhausted mentally after seeing her and when she leaves or I go home I want to lie in a dark room alone.

I really need to get back on meds, I was on fluoxetine temporarily until I could have CBT but I don’t think I had enough rounds to benefit me. Dr also brought to beta blockers when I last went for my MH but didn’t want to put me on them because I have a heart problem and it would bring my heart rate down too drastically, just feel a bit lost tbh

Ilovedogs1 · 10/06/2024 22:49

Hi ladies. Sorry I've been absent for a week or so. @Takemeback2thestart trying to tolerate uncertainty is so hard isn't it. I am getting better at this but I don't think it will ever totally go. @fara20 congrats on the job! I've been feeling better recently but once again I just wonder how long for.
Hope your all OK. X

Whycantgiraffesdance · 11/06/2024 09:40

Hey everyone, how are u all today?

I think I’m doing ok, I’m 100% better than I was a few months ago but there’s still that nervous anxiousness lurking in the background! Think it’s here to stay to be honest and this is just my new ‘normal’!

sending hugs to anyone that needs it today xxx

Takemeback2thestart · 11/06/2024 11:30

@LifeonMarss its very difficult I know, I’m glad you have some support from your DH . How often do you see your DM? It might be worth trying to distance yourself as much as possible, while you are feeling low. Could you suggest meeting somewhere rather than her come to you; that way you can be a bit more in control of how long you are in her company. Make sure you treat yourself to something nice afterwards.
might be worth another chat with the gp to see if medication could help.

Takemeback2thestart · 11/06/2024 12:33

@Ilovedogs1 yes it’s something I’ve struggled with massively over the years and unfortunately it’s got worse, partly due to some physical health issues. I’m trying very hard to put the CBT sessions into practice.
@Whycantgiraffesdance good to hear. Yes even when I’ve been doing well I still have a background anxiety that never leaves.

hope everyone else is doing ok.

Helplessandheartbroke · 11/06/2024 23:21

Hey everyone, sorry a few others are struggling but glad to see @Whycantgiraffesdance and @Ilovedogs1 you're doing ok. I'm on an intense cbt course atm and it's tough so I hear you ladies. I'm sat in a&e and LO has croup.

I think mines triggered by events that have happened the last few years coupled with my ocd but the last 6 months have been particularly difficult x

Nannie24 · 13/06/2024 13:11

Thank you I appreciate it

Nannie24 · 13/06/2024 13:16

What do you all find helps with things that are not in your control that worry you? I have major control issues so honestly when I can't work something out or know what's going on it makes me spiral sometimes .... and I don't mean I want to control people it's not like that it's just when you don't know or understand why something is happening it can be hard to process it
At the moment my health is not great and my husband and me are having a few rough weeks and I can't understand why we are and if I am going crazy or things just feel off

JamSandle · 13/06/2024 13:49

I've been sobbing a lot lately. A lot of grief is coming up for me. I'm wondering if I have some kind of PTSD. I've lost a lot of people over a few years and although I can mask when around people, when I'm alone I completely fall apart. It's agony.

fara20 · 15/06/2024 07:51

I've been very down. I don't sleep well, haven't for months. Frustrated at my decisions and beating myself up for my mistakes that have brought me here. I need to be ok with myself and I'm not.

Man I relate Fara. I'm so angry with me. I have noone to blame for my current situation but me.
