I couldn’t see a recent one of these so thought I’d start one.

I just feel I need to do something positive so will hopefully share some more thoughts later that I hope will help - others as well as myself.

In the meantime, feel free to check in as, if nothing else, it helps to feel less alone.

@Kielyflower I'm back at the gp next week so will ask as fluoxitine still hasn't kicked I'm and I get a lot of physical symptoms daily. I do have a bath or shower every night and it helps for 10 mins. I feel I don't deserve to not feel like this though 😪

How are you feeling this evening?

Somatosensational · 22/01/2024 19:58

@Kielyflower I’m a lot better now, thank you. I have PMDD and only have 1 good week or so a month. The days leading up to my period and the first few days of my bleed are the worst, lots of unhelpful thoughts as you say. The fog finally lifted last night and I’m like a different person today. Same shit, different perspective Smile

Propranolol is brilliant. I always have some available just in case.

Well done for getting groceries and I’m in awe of your run! I left the flat for the first time since Friday to go for a walk. I normally try to go for a walk every day but it’s just not possible on the really bad days, can’t cope with anything at all.

Jk24 · 22/01/2024 20:33

@Somatosensational brilliant to hear you've had a positive day and got out for a walk! Well done you!

Ilovedogs1 · 22/01/2024 20:36

@Jk24 yes I have had CBT couple of times in the past. It sort of helps but as you know with OCD the doubt is relentless. Not quite as energetic as you @Kielyflower but I did go to a yoga class and walked the dogs.

Jk24 · 22/01/2024 20:38

@Ilovedogs1 do you think my guilt is valid from what I wrote back? Ocd reassurance seeking here... am I a terrible person?

Jk24 · 22/01/2024 20:57

@Ilovedogs1 yoga and walking are huge positives! Mindfulness

Jk24 · 23/01/2024 15:35

How's everyone today? I've been feeling a little easier with my guilt after pm off one person and speaking to my sister. I'm just having a nightmare today with ds school placements...

EmmaEmerald · 23/01/2024 16:14

Really sorry to hijack this thread but wondered if anyone could help

Probably not, but no one to talk to IRL

Posted last night and I think some posters here were on my original thread

Today I've done that thing where I couldn't get my brain working till about 3pm. Desperate for ideas to help get back to normal. Or just help generally.

Jk24 · 23/01/2024 16:17

Hey @EmmaEmerald I'll have a look at your thread but you're welcome to talk on here too!

Kielyflower · 23/01/2024 17:14

Hey@EmmaEmerald, ditto what @Jk24 said.

That’s great news that the guilt is a little easier. I’ve had a better day than of late. I’ve felt my brain being a bit slower - in a good way - the thoughts aren’t racing as much. Could be because I’ve been fairly exhausted.

It doesn’t help when life throws stressful things into the mix - like school placements.

Id like I feel like I’m getting on with life a bit more rather than thinking about my mental health all the time. Not sure how realistic that is.

@EmmaEmerald I think I remember your posts from last year. Like you I don't feel like I'm back to 100% at all. Everybody keeps saying I was really ill and it takes time. Don't know about you but if I'm having a hard day I get scared of being as ill as I was again. Suppose we just need to be patient.

Jk24 · 23/01/2024 17:24

@Kielyflower that's great to here. Does dh support you with your MH? I'm worried I've been really negative lately so I'm trying not to put too much sad stuff on here... thoughts are driving me mad atm though.

Ataloss44 · 23/01/2024 18:03

Can I please join ?

Currently in the midst of anxiety fog. Was triggered off last week by a social event - still with me now.
Always been a worrisome type but since the menopause this has hit a new level.

Jk24 · 23/01/2024 19:45

Hey @Ataloss44 welcome! Sorry to hear you're struggling too! 😞

Ilovedogs1 · 24/01/2024 11:58

Morning all. Feeling blah again today. Just wondered if anyone else on this thread suffers with OCD intrusive thoughts and has had any success with ERP?

My friend is having ERP at the moment and reporting good things. Her OCD is quite severe.

Ilovedogs1 · 24/01/2024 15:11

@Somatosensational that's encouraging. Does your friend have intrusive thoughts? Are her compulsions more mental or physical?

Somatosensational · 24/01/2024 15:32

Hers are more physical. Similar kind of OCD to mine… repeating actions and general sort of superstitious behaviour/magical thinking. I also get the intrusive thoughts playing round on a loop. Always worse when I’m stressed.

My brother, mum, maternal aunt and maternal grandad all have/had the same type of OCD, interestingly.

Did you try CBT for it? I tried it but found it always came back unfortunately. I have managed to get it under control for most of my adult life though, because I’m so embarrassed by my rituals.

Ilovedogs1 · 26/01/2024 10:20

Morning all. Been a bit quiet on here last couple of days. How is everyone?
@Somatosensational yes I have tried CBT. Like you I didn't really get any long term benefit.

Jk24 · 26/01/2024 10:24

@Ilovedogs1 sorry I've not had anything positive to say and didn't want to keep being the depressing one! Really struggling, meds and councilling aren't helping. Ocd thoughts consuming my life 24/7. Hope you're doing better!

Ilovedogs1 · 26/01/2024 10:31

@Jk24 don't apologise. That's what this thread is for. Support when its shit and encouragement when it's better. I think that was @Kielyflower idea anyway.
Still struggling myself tbh. Thoughts in my head constantly although I am still able to get on and focus on other things. Exhausting though having your brain whirring constantly.

Jk24 · 26/01/2024 11:11

@Ilovedogs1 I know but I thought I'd give everyone a few days off supporting me lol. I'm constantly second guessing myself thinking I'm a terrible person. Didn't do right by ddog and now not doing right by dh and ds as I can't snap out of it. I've got a constant knot in my stomach and feel like I'm having a constant panic attack.

Enough about me! What's on your mind? Anything particular or the general ocd mad thoughts?

I had to get my tyre changed the other day and when I was pulling out my car rolled back slightly. I drove all the back round to check I'd not bumped into one of the workers! I'm glad I did it though or I would be sat here now thinking I'd hit someone with my car! Madness

Ilovedogs1 · 26/01/2024 20:32

@Jk24 sorry for late reply I've just finished work. Usual OCD crap I'm afraid. I understand when you say you feel bad for your family. I'm always saying to my DH don't you wish you'd married someone not as weird as me. He says it's the weirdness that makes me so caring. I have to say most people I come across with OCD seem really caring and usually seem to have dogs mainly but definitely a pet. They say it's kind people that love animals.
Presently wanting to re check a bit of my route home but I'm determined not to let it win. 🤞

Jk24 · 26/01/2024 21:20

@Ilovedogs1 your dh is absolutely right and how supportive he is! My step mum calls me an empath and too caring but I always feel like I'm me me me me me. I know I did everything for ddog and loved him same with dh and ds just torture myself over little negatives. I hope you're having a good night. I'm really trying to focus on the pros
