I couldn’t see a recent one of these so thought I’d start one.

I just feel I need to do something positive so will hopefully share some more thoughts later that I hope will help - others as well as myself.

In the meantime, feel free to check in as, if nothing else, it helps to feel less alone.

Hi all,

Morning dread is the worst. I think partially because our body secretes a lot of Cortisol (stress hormone) to wake us up so that, in turn, enhances our anxiety.

@Whycantgiraffesdance Thank you for your concern and @Jk24 , it's nice to know you're not alone.

@colouringindoors Keep writing, if nothing else, then just to get ruminative thoughts outside of your mind (CALM website says that helps).

I'm still confused today, I feel like in-between feeling better and worse.

Ataloss44 · 04/04/2024 22:34

The difference in how I feel am & pm is worlds apart. I’m very relaxed at this moment but first thing it’s a different matter. Am going through
a tough patch but feel normal after 8pm. Not exercising so not helping.
Menopause is playing a part & I think I need meds review. Am currently taking Fluoxetine but it’s not touching the anxiety of late. Solidarity to us all it’s tough going At times

Are you also taking HRT? Just to say that my antidepressants also stopped working at peri, started working again when I started HRT.

Jk24 · 05/04/2024 03:08

@snowfoxglove you said you tried to get rl support but was unsuccessful, was that by speaking to your gp?

@Ataloss44 I'm usually much calmer in the evenings too. Mornings are a dread! However this week night time has been too as ds has woke every night now and won't go back to sleep 😪sending solidarity to you too and as @Touty said hrt can definitely benefit. I know it helps my mum (very young mum who's been going through menopause for years) I'm not that far behind you!

Sending best wishes ladies x

Ataloss44 · 05/04/2024 07:34

As predicted have woken feeling extremely anxious. Butterflies in stomach, jaw clenched and tired feeling before even moving. I do have extra work stress going on at the moment so this is contributing- but even prior to this I was not right.
@Jk24 yes am on HRT along with the fluoxetine- it’s not helping really .
Will soldier on as it’s all I can do .
it’s a bugger !

BCBird · 05/04/2024 07:45

Morning to u all. Keep trying to kick those negative thoughts in the arse-they no friend to us. We need to release our inner cheerleader. Not easy I know. Thinking of asking for hrt when I go to docs. Too many issues going on on top of menopause. Hand hold to u all

Jk24 · 05/04/2024 08:54

@BCBird hand hold to you too. Anything you want to talk about?

@Ataloss44 work stress won't be helping.

I'm utterly exhausted about to start work x

Ilovedogs1 · 05/04/2024 10:58

@Jk24 I noticed you posted at 3am. Did you have another bad night with DS?
I've had an ok few days. Anxiety not to bad but the intrusive thoughts are there a lot.

Jk24 · 05/04/2024 13:40

@Ilovedogs1 yes I'm afraid so. I think it might be night terrors reading up....

Glad things have calmed even if only a little for you x

Whycantgiraffesdance · 05/04/2024 14:23

Hey everyone,

feeling a bit calmer than my super emotional day yesterday! 😭 im ovulating and I’m sure it’s got something to do with that, I’ve noticed before my mood always dips at that point, anyone else?

im trying to get an appt with a certain doctor at my practice to talk through my meds etc and I found out today he only does phone appts because he’s based in a completely different county to my surgery! 🙈 there was literally no one in the waiting room at my doctors today, I don’t think face to face appts exist anymore! I just don’t feel like you get the same experience when it’s just a phonecall and how can they check your blood pressure or weight etc if needed?! Seems madness to me!

so sorry you’re having a rough time @Jk24 , does your little one always suffer from night terrors? Is there anything that can help him?

@Ataloss44 mornings are the worse aren’t they, I literally have to lay in bed and ride out the panic every morning, it’s such a horrible way to start the day.

@hk1993x have you had your second ECT today? Hope you’re ok lovely x

annabanana068 · 05/04/2024 15:02

I am having quite a day to be fair. Found out my partner has been having an emotional affair.

That’s awful @annabanana068 did u suspect something? X

Jk24 · 05/04/2024 15:35

@Whycantgiraffesdance no just this week. That's madness your gp is in a different county! Can you ask to be appointed a new one?

@annabanana068 wow! I'm so sorry. Were here if you want to talk x

I can see someone else it’s just frustrating as this one was really nice and has knowledge of what’s been going on with my mental Health!

Ataloss44 · 05/04/2024 16:23

Hi,

even starting to wonder if it’s the HRT that’s making the anxiety worse ! I didn’t actually have a blood test I just asked for it as was having itching, hot flushes and aching all over to be fair that’s all better but bloody anxiety here.

As predicted feel far calmer now just drained from anxiety. On a plus side I’ve lost weight which I can afford to lose but not nicest way to loose it.

@annabanana068 oh gosh feel
for you ! Not what you need at all. Here if you need to vent.

@Whycantgiraffesdance glad you feel a bit better:-)

@Jk24 really hope you get proper sleep tonight have you tried nytol not the herbal stuff it’s helped me in the past.

Jk24 · 05/04/2024 17:47

@Ataloss44 I would ask for the blood test then you know either way.

No tries nytol might have to invest! X

colouringindoors · 05/04/2024 18:53

thanks so much @Jk24 @snowfoxglove really appreciate your messages. A little better today in terms of panicky still overwhelmed and depressed. You're right it does help to externalise. Heard today that UC people are going to pay me some money which is a relief. Sending best wishes to all 🌷

Ataloss44 · 05/04/2024 19:18

@Jk24 yes I think I will request it or even pay private. What do people take for anxiety that actually works ? Like I said fluoxetine is not working but I do have a touch of ocd & think it helps with this. I don’t get depressed never have done just fed up of stopping my enjoy line fully.

Having a nice bath which always is a tonic ! Don’t really drink as it seems to make anxiety worse.

Have good evenings all ! Glad this chat is here as it really helps x

Whycantgiraffesdance · 05/04/2024 20:09

@Ataloss44 Propanalol is meant to be good for anxiety in that it takes away the physical symptoms if you’re having a panic attack for example. My doctor also recently prescribed me promethazine which is basically an antihistamine but it can be used for travel sickness etc and also works for anxiety as it calms you, I take it in the morning when I wake up to make the morning anxiety more bearable and a few hours before I go to bed as it helps me sleep! X

snowfoxglove · 06/04/2024 02:43

@Jk24 You're right. I was trying to get an appointment with a private therapist, but I didn't even talk to my GP. I might as well.

snowfoxglove · 06/04/2024 02:50

Well, sleep patterns went topsy-turvy (again) so that's fun. I feel like I've been sucker-punched into being a carer/punching bag for a toxic family member when I'm the worst possible person for the job.

Escitalopram only makes me sleepy and drowsy, and it takes away my energy when I need more energy to deal with my life or get help. All that medication did was take away all the good feelings I used to experience but leave the rest. I still experience anxiety and morning dread and anxiety attacks, and intrusive thoughts. Utter rubbish!

snowfoxglove · 06/04/2024 03:07

As @Ataloss44 said, solidarity to us all, it's tough going at times.

@colouringindoors This thread has been a life-saver for me. You can just pop in when you feel a bit low. If nothing else, then just to feel better seeing there are others who struggle.

@Whycantgiraffesdance I'm glad you are feeling a bit better. It's definitely different in person because getting that face-to-face contact can help you get your energy levels up

@Jk24 Thank you for being here, I know you're very busy with your own life, take a break when you need to, and I hope you managed to get some rest, you are appreciated xx

Hand hold to all, it's normal to struggle, life is seldom social media perfect. If anything, all of us struggle and all of us need help and a friendly person in our lives Flowers

Ataloss44 · 07/04/2024 09:04

Morning,

how are we all doing today. I’m slightly better today still not right but improving . I think once I tie up some stressful work things next week my load will feel lighter.

Doing some exercise today really having to force it but will feel better after it. Taking magnesium and vitamin b seeing if that helps me. Hoping to meet a friend later for chat again another help for reducing the anxiety.

Im definitely going to speak to GP about a different medication to try as fluoxetine is doing nothing but killing my libido.

Wishing you all strengthen & solidarity as we March onwards in this what sometimes feels like a war.

snowfoxglove · 07/04/2024 11:01

Hi all,

How is everyone doing? I hope things are okay-ish. It really helped to vent here the other day. I notice if I try to bottle my feelings up and suppress them, it creates this viscious cycle of rumination. But by giving my thoughts and emotions outlet, I externalise them so to say.

I feel a bit better today. I still irrationally worry about certian things I know logically didn't happen but a bit of progress.

@Ataloss44 you're absolutely right, it sometimes feels like a war. It helps to know we are not the only ones fighting.

Sending everyone thoughts of support and I'm hoping we will all get through this together.

Jk24 · 07/04/2024 15:56

Hi all, sorry I've been quiet. I'm having a rough few days and then I accidentally got drunk last night which I NEVER do when I've got ds so really beating myself up today and feeling highly anxious. I think the alcohol got to me more due to the lack of sleep? I wouldn't usually get so drunk from the amount I drank. Hating myself as usual. Hope everyone else is better.

@snowfoxglove please ring gp tomorrow and book in with them. Also why are you caring for the toxic family member? You know you don't have to? X

@Ataloss44 I would try your gp before paying private. You pay to use the NHS service with you national insurance plus prescriptions x
