Derealization AGAIN

Almost a year to the day since my last episode - I'm heartbroken it's come back. This time it was triggered by missing about a week of my contraceptive pill.

This time I'm going to try not to go back on the citalopram. Total episode time previous times I've done this is about 3 weeks but I think the SSRI onboarding symptoms made it worse. So this time I'm going without, just using propranolol as needed.

Handhold much appreciated. I'm pretty much repeating "it will go away" on a loop and trying to ignore the crushing terror that this will go on for ever.

Hi. Finding being on holiday a challenge. Change and lots of people seem to make me really anxious atm. Trying to enjoy it as best I can but annoyed the anxiety is ruining it a bit. @HangingOver we're in Bude for our holiday .
Keep plodding on ladies. X

Well done. It can be so hard especially when you're supposed to be 'happy'.

I'm going to try and get out for a walk later if the sun is still out, get some fresh air.

When do you start your SSRI @HangingOver ? Will you take citalopram again?

HangingOver · 06/07/2023 16:41

Another day nearly done ladies.

I took the first citalopram last night so I'm battoning down the hatches for the next ten days or so. I know it'll get worse before it gets better.

I'm on the fifth week of this episode and I could not be more sick of it. 😔

Hey. How has everyone's weekend been? I've been trying hard to not let my anxiety get the better of me but it's all got to much this evening so I'm having a big cry. X

Mine was ok actually, chilled out, watched some tennis, went for walks etc.

How are you getting on with the citalopram @HangingOver?

Have you been able to enjoy your holiday @Ilovedogs1? The weather hasn't been great sadly.

Hi there, I'm going through really bad dp/dr has been none stop for nearly 3 months do you have any tips on getting over it?

Thank you

HangingOver · 09/10/2023 22:30

Hi @Missmay16 that's about how long mine lasted last time. It was miserable for sure. I got on a low dose of anti anxiety meds /, spoke to a therapist and pretty much waited for it to go away. It went from completely terrifying, to horrible, to depressing and annoying but no longer alarming. That was when I stopped noticing it as much as gradually I realised I was hardly thinking about it at all. I think it'll go away faster if you can force yourself not to panic over it.bitsneasoer said than done though, I know!

Hi @HangingOver, thank you so much for your reply. I am trying so hard to ignore it but its absolutely terrifying 😳

Derealization is vile. I remember feeling like a ghost. Like l was made of ectoplasm and bits of me were drifting away. I used to describe it as feeling haunted.

I’m better now though. And you will be eventually. Then it becomes like a horrible dream rather than living through a horrible dream x

Missmay16 · 10/10/2023 14:16

Hi @ArseInTheCoOpWindow how long did it last for you?
