The crisis team have just left, after 'encouraging' me to take my antipsychotics...why has it come to this?

Thanks all for your thoughts, I'll see how it goes tonight.

Good luck SnowyMouse, I know you can do it! Just remember that nothing bad happened when you took your meds before.

Do you have a diagnosis? I would really recommend reading up on your condition as it might help you to understand what is going on for you. The NHS website can be quite good for that sort of thing.

Also remember you are not alone in suffering from this, sometimes illnesses can make you feel like you are the only person with it and very alone, there will be lots of other people out there with the same issues as you.

I have had psychosomatic symptoms before. That is where you feel physical symptoms (I felt something was blocking my throat) but it was actually my brain playing tricks on me. There was nothing blocking my throat, it was caused by anxiety. It's not exactly the same as your situation but I understand how real the voices seem to you because I know how real my blocked throat felt to me. It felt completely real. But just like in your situation it wasn't real, it was my brain causing the issue.

I have non-organic psychosis. Thanks for your support.

You are welcome SnowyMouse, take care of your self.

SnowyMouse · 23/01/2022 15:43

I've got a medical review tomorrow, I'm dreading it.

Possessionangst · 23/01/2022 17:45

What worries you most about it?

SnowyMouse · 23/01/2022 18:31

What they'll say - a couple of days ago they were threatening depots or admission.

OP posts:
Wolfiefan · 23/01/2022 18:41

What would need to happen to avoid that?

Tal45 · 23/01/2022 19:06

Do you need to take your meds to avoid admission snowymouse? Have you been able to take them? If you're really struggling to take them then maybe admission would be helpful for you?

SnowyMouse · 25/01/2022 16:17

They've prescribed me some prn to use.

OP posts:
Wolfiefan · 25/01/2022 17:38

How do you feel about that OP?

SnowyMouse · 25/01/2022 20:03

I'm not sure, I haven't got it yet. I don't know whether I'll be able to take it or not, but I can't take it if I don't have it.

OP posts:
Wolfiefan · 25/01/2022 20:07

That’s true! What’s prn? What stops you taking it?

SnowyMouse · 25/01/2022 20:26

Prn stands for lorazepam, to try to take the edge off things. The voices stop me taking it.

OP posts:
Possessionangst · 25/01/2022 21:45

Have you went against what they said in the past?

Wolfiefan · 25/01/2022 22:10

The voices are why you need it. What do they say when you explain why you’re struggling to take the meds?

SnowyMouse · 26/01/2022 11:16

I do tell the voices no/go away/later, they don't always listen when they're loud. If you mean the medics, they say they understand but I have to take them.

OP posts:
Wolfiefan · 26/01/2022 12:51

You do. The voices can’t physically stop you. They are a part of the illness. Have you taken them today?

Possessionangst · 26/01/2022 15:08

@SnowyMouse

I do tell the voices no/go away/later, they don't always listen when they're loud. If you mean the medics, they say they understand but I have to take them.
Sorry - my question wasn’t very clear - I meant going against the voices. It must be very tiring at times trying to please everyone (the voices, the medics). Does lorazepam help a wee bit?
SnowyMouse · 26/01/2022 18:47

Lorazepam takes the edge off, it can help. I've got 5 tablets worth.

OP posts:
Possessionangst · 27/01/2022 21:00

How did today go.

SnowyMouse · 28/01/2022 16:46

Yesterday was really difficult, so is today.

OP posts:
Possessionangst · 28/01/2022 17:30

You mentioned lorazepam takes the edge off. Are you able to take it today? What is making it difficult - are the voices louder or do you feel more tired?

SnowyMouse · 30/01/2022 18:32

Being tired makes it harder and the voices are more powerful when I'm tired.

Wolfiefan · 30/01/2022 21:42

They won’t be if you take the meds my lovely.
