My post got deleted - ‘know I’m going to kill myself’

missgraciea · 12/01/2022 09:16

I just wanted to message on here to say thank you for the support that I received on the post and that I am ok. Unfortunately as it has now been deleted I can’t use the messages to show the GP that I am going to today.
Unfortunately Mumsnet sent round the police to my property my using the IP address to trace me which was the last thing I needed and so I’ll be leaving Mumsnet now but wanted to take a moment to say thank you to all of the posters that did give me support on the previously thread.

Well done MN.

HollowTalk · 12/01/2022 09:17

They sent the police round?! I am really glad you are okay but I think their actions are way beyond what I would expect on here.

Invasionofthegutsnatchers · 12/01/2022 09:17

Glad you are OK OP

overthethamesfromyou · 12/01/2022 09:18

I hope the GP can help today Thanks

OnlyAFleshWound · 12/01/2022 09:20

I don't think mumsnet should be criticised for trying to intervene if you posted imminent suicidal intentions on their forum. That was responsible of them.

I'm sorry you feel so bad and hope the gp offers some hope.

PurpleDaisies · 12/01/2022 09:22

Someone must have been very concerned to send people to check on you. Flowers

I hope you can get a copy of the thread and it helps you to access real life support.

Iwantamarshmallowman · 12/01/2022 09:23

I hope you feel better soon but please don't bash mumsnet for trying to help you. They have a duty of care.

Enough4me · 12/01/2022 09:24

Good luck with the GP Flowers

MN responded to the information you provided in the way their policy will dictate. In my organisation if anyone says they definitely are suicidal we have to ensure their safety.

MichaelMumsnet · 12/01/2022 09:24

Hi @missgraciea - we're glad to hear that you're ok.
If you email us, we can provide you with a copy of your messages to take to your GP.

Really ???? I think they acted responsibly, well done MN. OP hope you get the help you need
Vapeyvapevape · 12/01/2022 09:26

I'm glad you're getting help x

BooksAndGin · 12/01/2022 09:26

I'm shocked they sent the police round, and feel that invades peoples privacy and makes me look at the forum differently but I guess they have a duty.

I'm glad your okay and going to get help, all the best OP. Thanks

meteoric · 12/01/2022 09:26

@Sarahlou63

Well done MN.
I agree, I'm impressed by the response. If people say they're about to kill themselves, mn should do exactly that. This isn't an appropriate place to leave suicide notes.

I really hope you get the help you need OP. Thanks

JugglingJanuary · 12/01/2022 09:27

Best wishes for getting the help you need!

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 12/01/2022 09:28

Well done MN- they did the best thing even if the OP can’t see it now Flowers

inaninstant · 12/01/2022 09:28

I hope you're feeling better OP.

In my old organisation, if we were informed someone was suicidal or at imminent risk from harm we would also inform the police for a welfare check. And I was not working in anything related to health. Organisations have a duty of care.

Do take care of yourself, I hope you get the help you need. Stay, always.

You have a lower opinion of the site because they try to stop people from ending their lives?

You would have a higher opinion of them if they just left them to do it?

EarringsandLipstick · 12/01/2022 09:35

OP, I remember your thread. I read it feeling helpless. You were at a very low ebb & very definite about your plans.

I think MN have acted really responsibly & I congratulate them on this.

I'm really pleased that you're OK & getting help today. Best of luck OP 💐

I hope you may stay on MN & find support on some of the boards here.

Wonkydonkey44 · 12/01/2022 09:35

I hope your getting the support you need and well done MN Smile

missgraciea · 12/01/2022 09:36

Thank you - yes I am feeling better, I’m fine.

I’ve learnt not to share anything on a public forum as I was hoping for support as don’t have too much in real life at all but obviously made people too worried and then that happened which I do understand as I understand the need for safeguarding and acting when things seem worrying.

I apologise to anyone who was worried and will make sure that I don’t overshare again. All of you posters have been very lovely to me and I appreciate it x

I think what they did is AMAZING and have nothing but praise for their actions. I can only hope if I was ever in such a dark place, that someone would do the same. Well done

You think it's a bad thing that they sent help to a suicidal woman?

Would you prefer them to just cross their fingers and hope she doesn't hurt herself?

I'm glad you're ok OP and hope the GP can help Thanks

Why are your shocked that an organisation is displaying a duty of care? If OP had wanted privacy she would not have posted on a public forum .... well done MN .... good luck 🍀 OP hope things turn round for you
lightand · 12/01/2022 09:39

If they have to do it they have to do it, but it is a warning to everyone that posting on a social forum is very far from a private thing to do.
You are essentially telling the world your private thoughts.

Gargellen · 12/01/2022 09:39

MN did the right thing. Even if you did not welcome the intervention OP, that does not mean intervention of that type would not save the life of another in the future.
