Hi ladies, back again for thread number 3!

OP posts:
Skyliner001 · 16/02/2021 08:17

Hope that everyone has a good day, I didn't have a very good night sleep, not with anxiety, but just with waking up a lot!

I've had one that this morning, when checking where my giant cyst was, there is a little bit of tissue on the side that I obsess with, it's above a prominent rib, and so when you don't examine it carefully, it feels harder than it actually is because of the rib.

I asked my partner to have a look, and we've agreed not to check again for another week.

On the whole not doing too badly though!

Hope everyone has a good day X

tmh88 · 16/02/2021 08:33

@chorusline79 I get weird tingly pains all the time! I always get tingling in my right side jaw when I eat and drink! No clue what that is Blush

@onlyreadingneverposting8 so glad baby’s jabs went well! Flowers you’ll be fine at your appointment the build up is horrendous however just like anything! Try remember it takes a long time for your body to go back to normal after a baby! I don’t think mine still has 3 years later!

tmh88 · 16/02/2021 08:35

@Skyliner001 I have very lumpy/bumpy ribs! It’s like tissue I can push around near them! Had it since I had DS 3 years ago! X

tmh88 · 16/02/2021 08:36

My partner said to me last night, “do you know when you get a new symptom and forget about the last one.. if you were on deaths door you would have all these symptoms all the time” it really helped me, so hoping it might help you all too!

onlyreadingneverposting8 · 16/02/2021 08:43

Thanks @tmh88 you're right of course! I've put my body through a lot in the last 3 yrs. 3 miscarriages, pregnancy, c section breastfeeding and I'm in my 40s so it's a time when the hormones often go a bit off. I keep going back to it - I really feel the media has a lot to answer for - it encourages us to assume "this could easily be cancer I need to get it checked out right now" rather than "this is highly unlikely to be cancer even if I need to get it checked out". Looking at the risk of individual cancers they're all very low - it's the cumulative risk of getting cancer over a lifetime that is higher.

onlyreadingneverposting8 · 16/02/2021 08:44

@tmh88 your partner is right - I'm the same - I go from one worry to the next; the previous worry becoming insignificant 🙄

tmh88 · 16/02/2021 09:29

@onlyreadingneverposting8 the media does have a lot to answer for! It’s all scaremongering really! Whilst I know that.. it doesn’t help! Blush

MakingASilkPurse · 16/02/2021 10:18

tmh88 What your partner said makes a lot of sense - I'm going to remember that. Hope you all have a positive day.

ShopTillYouDropp · 16/02/2021 11:27

@StooriMidori thank you for that, I really think I need to speak to gp again as I don't think as abs when with me is working

@tmh88 you DP is definitely right, I wish I could think like that lol x

Skyliner001 · 16/02/2021 12:48

I've had a poking lapse, spent around 15 minutes lying on my back poking my lumpy breasts. But I feel back in control of it now. It helps to write it down.

Skyliner001 · 16/02/2021 18:00

Had another laps, and approximately five minutes of checking after my bath. I didn't find anything other than what I already know it's there, but I already have a low-level anxiety of wanting to check again, even though I have just done so! Does anybody else get that!

Skyliner001 · 16/02/2021 18:01

Hope you ladies have all had a good day X

MakingASilkPurse · 16/02/2021 18:04

Skyliner001 I'd say you're doing very well if you managed to restrict it to 15 minutes 🙂

onlyreadingneverposting8 I agree with you completely about the media. I had a look at the breast cancer stats on Cancer Research UK the other day and the number of cases per 100,000 was way lower than I'd thought.

chorusline79 · 16/02/2021 19:30

@Skyliner001 yes totally! I can check and then want to do 5 mins later for reassurance in case I have missed something. I am always worried that my checking isn't good enough and it will be my fault when they find something

TheSilentStars · 16/02/2021 20:49

Evening all
@Skyliner001, I'm lying on my back poking my lumpy right one right now. Gah!
I also tingle..ankles and feet almost constantly. I waved between thinking it's a vitamin deficiency, diabetes, neuropathy or MS. Hmm I tend to start panicking about it when lying down like now because that's when I can feel it most.
Hope everyone is well and not overly prodding.

onlyreadingneverposting8 · 16/02/2021 21:50

Evening everyone! Pokers - hope you're coping right now xxx

Had a horrid afternoon evening! Baby's temp spiked with the meningitis b vaccination they get now. I've been a mess. Imagining/worrying that I wouldn't be able to control it and she have a fit or something terrible would happen to her. I think we are over the worst now 🤞🏼. I've been snappy with the other children and DH saying all the right things to reassure me has just had snappy retorts 😳. I'm going to stay up with her tonight to make sure her temp doesn't go up again.

tmh88 · 17/02/2021 08:10

@onlyreadingneverposting8 sorry I didn’t check in last night! How’s baby now? Horrible things like this! I completely understand I still stay up with DS when ill! Flowers think it’ll be a day of plenty of coffee for you!

Morning everyone Flowers hope your all doing ok!

MrsWhites · 17/02/2021 09:12

Morning everyone, hope you are all well.

@onlyreadingneverposting8 glad the baby injections went well but sorry to hear she’s had a rough day, mine both got temps with the meningitis vaccine and a sore arm, they both had it as older children because they weren’t eligible as babies so the side effects are probably worse in a small baby 😢
I agree the media triggers me too, there is a fine line between awareness and causing unnecessary fear I think.

@tmh88 I also forget about one symptom when the next one comes along!

@Skyliner001 I definitely get the anxiety about not checking, even when I’ve just checked. I’ve been trying to remind myself that I don’t need to check because I only checked earlier or yesterday or whatever but a lot of the time the anxiety is just too distracting!

onlyreadingneverposting8 · 17/02/2021 09:15

Morning! Thanks for the support @MrsWhites & @tmh88 - she seems ok this morning. I've kept a pretty close vigil in the night in case her temp went back up but it doesn't seem to have done. I take everything back about me being pragmatic with the kids! 🙄

MrsWhites · 17/02/2021 09:41

@onlyreadingneverposting8 aww it’s hard to keep perspective with things like high temperatures, they are really scary! Hope you get a better nights sleep tonight!

OP posts:
tmh88 · 17/02/2021 11:30

@onlyreadingneverposting8 kids are terrifying, I remember when I took DS to drs when he was about 6 months old he had croup and his cough was like nothing I had heard before and the dr still looked at us like what do you want me to do! Low and behold he recovered himself didn’t need any medicines other than calpol! However I still remember the fear like it was yesterday! Go easy on yourself, kids are harder than they look but it’s us parents that worry Flowers

Skyliner001 · 17/02/2021 14:10

Morning ladies, hope everybody is well today!

My new stress is the fact that I am getting up to wee in the night. It started about a year ago when I stayed somewhere with an ensuite for quite a long time. It almost felt like my body was trying to want to go more in the night.

And now whenever I wake up in the night I do have to go. But I'm not waking up desperate or anything.

I'm 39, and have never had a baby. Not sure if that makes a difference!

But I have been googling nocturia, and freaking myself out!

Does anybody else have to get up to wee at night!?

Skyliner001 · 17/02/2021 14:11

@onlyreadingneverposting8 Hope all is well 💚

chorusline79 · 17/02/2021 15:21

@onlyreadingneverposting8 how is baby? Hope you're ok, so hard when little ones have temps

@Skyliner001 sorry to hear this. I wuss go through a phase last year where I was getting up to wee once or twice in the night and it was so knackering! I was actually weeing loads throughout the day, up to 30 times a day. It just stopped after a while - I had investigation to check I was emptying bladder, and had numerous urine tests but nothing showed up. Very strange. Doc said it could have been stress related as I was worrying about needing a wee so could be that?

tmh88 · 17/02/2021 15:51

@Skyliner001 I always get up for a wee through the night! I have no idea why but I always do! I did have a bladder op about 6/7 years ago however so could be put down to that! I would say it’s normal to wake for a wee xx
