Seeing all these Feeling Low Posts makes me feel like screaming THAT'S LIFE

I'm sorry

I don't really read these threads

I do know that depression is a real illness and requires medical help and I do not wish to denigrate those who are suffering in this way

I cannot help thinking that a lot of these posts stem from expecting more from life than there really is. Some people just seem to want to feel good all the time, and the things that are getting you down are JUST LIFE

I think a lot of you do need to pull your socks up and stop analysing things. just get on with your lives and make the best of it

God forbid you had something proper to worry about - like war, disease, famine

Don't seem to see many of the mothers from the SN board posting here nor those who I do see as having real problems to worry about.

Discuss...

Moominmama. Totally agree with you, yes it's the Psuedoynm thing that really gets me, if you don't like it be brave enough to show your own virtual face

JuniperDewdrop · 25/10/2004 19:36

I was thinking that too wigwambam that people will be thinking twice about their postings now

kalex · 25/10/2004 19:37

Gogrmum, Iavoid threads about people saying they find it hard to cope without the DH, but I am a single parent, not through choice, and I do it every day, and I don't stand back for the waves of adulation. They are my kids and I love them so I cope, what else can I do !!!

KateandtheGirls · 25/10/2004 19:42

I'm with you there Kalex.

Caligula · 25/10/2004 19:45

I'm rather incredulous at this thread. Sometimes I see threads which I consider trivial (I won't give any examples in case I offend anyone, but they're not the Feelilng Low threads), but when I do, I just don't contribute to them. I clock the title and think, is that your only worry, lucky you. But I don't go on and say, fgs woman, there's war famine and pestilence to worry about, why are you worrying about x. What the hell would be the point of that?

And anyway, that's the joy of Mumsnet, you can go from a really serious discussion about high politics, or someone whose marriage is falling apart, to who you fancy or what colour knickers you should wear. It's ridiculous to say that people shouldn't post about what's bothering them, at whatever level.

Scream That's Life! but why the f* d'you have to scream it in the faces of people who are looking here for support?

I've got PND. And I'm recently on ADs. Maybe the doctor has given them to me uneccessarily. I don't know. I think they're helping a bit.

I feel a fraud anyway.

i feel more of a fraud now. Think I'll stop posting on feeling low threads

JuniperDewdrop · 25/10/2004 19:51

don't say that PC

joanneg · 25/10/2004 19:53

PC - dont let this shitty thread put you off posting on here . You are not a fraud and you dont have to bloody justify how you feel.

agy · 25/10/2004 19:53

Its only one person saying it PC. and she's probably a troll, not a regular poster at all.

WigWamBam · 25/10/2004 19:53

PC NO! Don't let one sour thread stop you from posting here and getting support. This is not what MN is about, and it's certainly not what the Feeling Low board is about. You have given advice on some of these threads that will have really made a difference to people, and that is what is important, not whether certain posters think that we should have better things to worry about. Whether we are depressed over something major or just niggled by a minor irritation, no one here is a fraud, least of all you.

joanneg · 25/10/2004 19:54

wigwambam - you said it a lot more eloquently than me!!

nasa · 25/10/2004 19:56

suggest this thread is allowed to drop off the active conversations. Obivous sh* stirring and I'm sure that as long as it is appearing it's making lots of people feel bad.

I'm still fuming but have calmed down enough to put together a, probably incoherent, post.
How bloody cowardly, posting under another name. You obviously didn't want to "discuss", you just wanted to stir things up. Has it been a bit quiet for you lately ???

If someone were to post on the sleep board that her baby is waking once every night. Would we tell her to go away as only someone whose baby wakes more than 4 times a night has a real problem?? I think not.

Everything is relative, some people can cope with life better than others. The same as some people have a higher/lower threshold of pain.

The title of the board is feeling low. In my opinion that would range from having an off day because you missed your bus to feeling suicidal.

If you're not interested in a topic, don't bloody read it, and DO NOT slag off the people who do use it, and what's more, need it.

PicadillyCircus · 25/10/2004 19:59

I know it's one stupid person - but other sensible people are also suggesting that ADs might not be the right things and that feeling low can perpetuate itself IYKWIM.

I'd just like to feel how I used to...

2wildbabies · 25/10/2004 20:00

i don't understand why the moderators are allowing this thread to still exist.

Get rid of it.....nobody should even have to be put through this type of upset. Allowing this kind of thread to stay for this long only encourages nasty people to continue to put up horrid, hurtful comments.

CountessDracula · 25/10/2004 20:00

Oh regularposter must be a troll surely?
Honestly it is pathetic that someone wants to make people who are already feeling down even worse about it. RP you should pull your socks up and go and jump in a vat of concentrated sulphuric acid.

JuniperDewdrop · 25/10/2004 20:01

How do we know it is a regular poster anyway?

shall we all count to 10 and then stop posting?.............
