Exactly as U says, you’re not alone, we’re all here and have been where you are so totally understand. Lorazepam should really help, diazepam really helped for me. Really calmed the panicky feeling. The nausea will settle, tomorrow things will probably be a bit better. Just remember why you’re taking this medication and remember you’ll get through these side effects and feel amazing. Take care xx

hernamewasrio · 01/06/2020 23:54

I started back in January and it's changed my life. I had no idea how anxious I really was! It was giving me debilitating sciatica too which has now completely gone. Stick with it - it took me about a week to get past the nausea x

Proseccoagain · 02/06/2020 07:14

I think I need to talk to GP again before I take another tablet - I really can't face feeling like this for much longer. Yesterday was terrible. Just made a cup of tea and can't even look at it.

Eilidh2203 · 02/06/2020 07:29

That’s such a shame. What dose are you on? I know in the states they often prescribe 25mgs which is sub therapeutic but introduces a little of the drug first to lessen side effects then titrate up xx

Desperate30 · 02/06/2020 12:50

Hi Prosecco
I’m sorry you’re feeling so bad. I think Day 3 was my worst day for sheer panic and then I had the odd glimpse of being not so bad. I’m on Day 11 now and still have a bit of anxiety but hoping that will ease by the end of the week. It’s not as bad as last week though. I know these are dark days but it’ll get better and will be worth it. Just take one day at a time. I had one sleepless night on Day 3 but since then have been sleeping ok. Hope things settle down for you soon.x

Proseccoagain · 02/06/2020 13:02

Spoken to GP (not the same one who prescribed the Sertraline), and she recommends I come off it,, also the lorazepam. She thinks they are not right for me in the circumstances, especially as the Sertraline was making me so ill,. So we shall see what happens..... Thanks to all for your kind words of encouragement.

Desperate30 · 02/06/2020 13:35

Oh goodness, Prosecco - I’m glad you spoke to a more sympathetic GP. I hope you find something that helps you and you’re soon on the road to recovery. Look after yourself and let us know how you get on. Good luck.xx

Eilidh2203 · 02/06/2020 13:47

You know, I would encourage everyone to persevere but you sounded so unwell I’m not surprised she’s taken you off. I hope you find something else that works for you. I have a pal on mirtazapine and don’t think she had awful side effects. Let us know how you get on? Take care hon xx

Eilidh2203 · 02/06/2020 13:51

Hey D, lovely to hear you’re still improving. Xx

Desperate30 · 02/06/2020 19:51

Thanks Eilidh! Still feel a bit anxious but I know it’s early days and you’re my inspiration that things will get better! Just not quick enough for me!x

Eilidh2203 · 02/06/2020 21:55

Yeah I get the impatience. I have so many reviews that I kept reading to keep me going, talking about persevering and two steps forward one step back.
Here’s one of the many reviews I still have on my phone, they were a god-send!
ā€œBest advice I can can give to anyone is stick with it. It may take a while & we are all different.
some people claim they felt better in weeks.. For me it took months..ā€œ

I know it sounds long but I think as long as you’re slightly improving and starting to see chinks of light you’ll keep going to get the full effect xx

Desperate30 · 03/06/2020 08:13

Thanks so much! I’ve had two sessions of CBT as well and I think that’s helping a bit too.x

Eilidh2203 · 03/06/2020 15:30

Good! You’re getting there! 😊

Blaziken · 04/06/2020 12:27

Can I please join in? I've been on Sertraline in the past and most recently stopped in January. I was doing fine until I lost my mum so I've just started taking it again today. I feel spaced out and sick. Looking forward to feeling better.

Umbongo1 · 04/06/2020 12:42

And me. I'm on day 2 and feeling hideous.

Eilidh2203 · 04/06/2020 13:27

Hey, yes that’s quite a normal reaction. I felt spaced out a lot in the beginning and nausea on and off, but it went away xx

Eilidh2203 · 04/06/2020 13:30

I kept a diary and it’s funny when I look back, I was feeling very weird up to day 4 then after that I’d a few really good days. I was prescribed diazepam 2mgs and propanolol 10mgs to help with side effects which they did. I’m 6 and a half months down the line and up to 150mgs. It’s been a journey, at times awful. But so so glad I persevered as I’m like a new person - good luck xx

Eilidh2203 · 04/06/2020 13:31

Did sertraline work previously for you? So sorry about your mum xx

Blaziken · 04/06/2020 14:32

Thanks Eilidh. It did work before. I remember last time I had to experiment with what time of day to take it and it worked out being best in the morning. I just feel very spaced out, like I've been sedated.

Eilidh2203 · 04/06/2020 15:54

Aww well that’s so good it worked before so it will again! 😊 and this strange feeling will pass xx

Umbongo1 · 04/06/2020 16:33

I've been on it before also but don't remember feeling this crappy. Head is spaced and I can't think straight. Lots of nausea and wondering why I'm doing this.... I can't look after my dd properly and I'm feeling such guilt

Proseccoagain · 04/06/2020 16:56

Spoke to different GP today as I've been getting terrible withdrawal effects after coming off my medication. She didn't think it was the Sertraline as I'd only taken two, but the Lorazepam which I'd also been told to come off too. I'd been taking them for 4 weeks, which she said was long enough for my body to get used to. She has put me back on them, and is slowly weaning me off and has given me a programme to do so. Have felt really ill the last three days, but have felt slightly better today after starting them again. Have kept a bit of food down. I'll not be looking for more medication, but will continue with the CBT. Could not bear to go through that again. Hope I can sleep tonight. Just hope that when everything is back to normal I'll feel better.

Umbongo1 · 04/06/2020 17:29

Anyone else just feeling absolutely knackered on these pills?

Desperate30 · 05/06/2020 10:19

Hi everyone
I’m on Day 14. The worst side effect for me was increased anxiety which was horrible. I didn’t have nausea thankfully. I take my tablets after breakfast so not sure if that helps. The anxiety is a lot better this week although still there on and off.
Good luck to you Umbongo and Blaziken - I think the first week is definitely the worst but each day is a step closer to getting better.
Prosecco, I really hope you’ll soon be over the worst and begin to feel back to your old self again soon.xx

Eilidh2203 · 05/06/2020 11:36

Yeah the increased anxiety is weird.. but goes away. It came back a bit when I was titrated up but not as bad xx
