Cybergarden Open Day

Hi all.

We realised there were people on the MH threads asking what on earth the cybergarden was, and could they "join".

The short answer is, Yes, come in and have a Brew!

The cybergarden was started as a support thread for one person, and a bit of an escape from grim reality for those of us housebound one way or another. We just wanted somewhere peaceful and pleasant to relax and enjoy things we couldn't always do in real life.

It's generally a pretty positive place, although everyone needs a moan now and then. And we do lots of small, personal visualisations when the spirit moves us. It can get a bit whimsical, so if imaginary stuff makes your teeth itch we're probably not for you!

But if a large garden with companion animals and a sandpit for the children suits your needs, do come in and have a cuppa. The kettle's almost always on.

That's a shame greentrees. Will you give it another go?

MrsMuddyPuddles · 21/06/2012 20:19

Hope things settle soon, Rabbits, and your ex stops being an arse.

I'm enjoying the new lavender bush :)

Hope the baking for dogs didn't smell too bad.

Just typed, checked a name on previous page and lost the lot, but I remember welcoming more dogs, apologising for being tied up with ISP changeover today and adding my dog-biscuit recipe (not very good).

So sorry you're having problems with other half, Rabbits, it's a difficult situation but hope life gets easier eventually.

SDTG that.s a really long name and I don't dare go back and check, but would you please tell me, what's a wolef?

AfternoonDelight · 23/06/2012 10:09

Hello everyone!

We've moved!

After 16 days of hell no internet connection, I'm finally back for a bit. We've had a massive argument with virgin media so we're flouncing finding another internet provider. I have no idea how long that'll be.

Mood is very very up and down, feel like I've been on a rollercoaster a bit. I can't talk much now, still have a lot to do, but I just wanted to check in and let you ladies know that I'm still surviving. My new health centre has referred me for counselling, so at least I can talk about my current problems. Also got physio there as well, first time since January!

Brew for good luck

Showtime · 23/06/2012 13:52

Congratulations on the move, AfternoonD and sympathies on internet problems - have just changed myself BT to Plusnet, and so far am very pleased and far less stressful than imagined.
Your new home seems much better for medical help, so hope LO is settling in happily and your DH is also pleased with the change. Good to know you're OK.

Appreciating penguins - thanks Smile

MrsMuddyPuddles · 24/06/2012 22:25

Have you tried hot chocolate and peppermint schapps? I once spent a memorable work Christmas do trying all sorts of liquors in hot chocolate ...

Showtime · 25/06/2012 22:03

Many thanks for all the chocolate treats which have appeared in the garden. Am particularly impressed with
bananacrepe's version of Penquin eating - must get some and try it.

We had divided opinions on marshmallows last time someone brought some in - I politely offered mine to someone else, and another gardener swore by flumps, but hot choc has always been a favourite, so many thanks to whoever made the last lot.

Hope fellow-gardeners are feeling more relaxed now the day is over, and were able to have some time outside without being rained on.

That's OK greentrees, people often just turn up for a change of scene, as nobody has to say anything unless they want to, but there's usually someone around.
Ndt (next-door's-tom) is usually sitting on the wall and watching to make sure there are no unpleasant interruptions to people who might be feeling fragile, HF Her Felinity) brings us flowers to make us feel better
(has learned that mice are not acceptable) and the nice-but-dim beagle is always happy to see us.
Hope you feel better soon, and also hope upward is not getting too tired as new bed-time draws nearer.
Hot chocolates all round, upward usually has the flumps.

MrsMuddyPuddles · 26/06/2012 22:50

What are flumps?

Showtime · 27/06/2012 00:42

Flumps are dunkers for choc drinks, I think. Upward knows.

Night all, sleep well, more chocolate available.

MrsMuddyPuddles · 27/06/2012 06:56

Glad you're feeling calmer, greentrees. I love the peace this place offers, too. The escape.

bananacrepe · 27/06/2012 07:51

Flumps are the yellow and pink twisty marshmallows. I wish I could turn my thoughts off Sad

MrsMuddyPuddles · 27/06/2012 09:12

Don't we all :( Once upon a time, I had a way of turning feelings off, but then they started leaking and now I am depressed. So I wouldn't recommend it.

Miserable weather today, isn't it?

MrsMuddyPuddles · 27/06/2012 09:13

oh! Thanks for the definition, bannanacrepe! Where ARE my manners?! Blush

Showtime · 27/06/2012 10:24

Glad the drugs are working, greentrees. Turning off thoughts and feelings is difficult, but I've found that replacing them can be effective, bananacrepe and Mrs. MP*. We have plenty of space in the cybergarden, apart from trampoline (just lift beagle off when you want a go), Moorish fountain (how did those Penguin wrappers get in there, someone having a boat race?) various experimental fruit and veg as in RL, and smallish sandpit for visiting children, but room for lots more.

No sun here, unfortunately, and I should go out- when more spoons turn up- but no doubt another gardener will be along soon to chat. Here's some espressos...

Nilgiri · 27/06/2012 10:42

Ooh, espresso! Thank you, Showtime.

I have all of everybody's sunshine here - right here over my house! Shall make a rare trip to town while it lasts, though like you I'm awaiting spoons, Showtime.

Shock at Penguins as hot choc straws! Why did I not know about this?!

Sorry for those having rotten days today - so glad you got some sleep, greentrees. And hope others have managed to get decent rest too.

If you can get hold of Tim Tams (like penguins but with caramel in them too) it works even better Grin
