Cybergarden Open Day

Hi all.

We realised there were people on the MH threads asking what on earth the cybergarden was, and could they "join".

The short answer is, Yes, come in and have a Brew!

The cybergarden was started as a support thread for one person, and a bit of an escape from grim reality for those of us housebound one way or another. We just wanted somewhere peaceful and pleasant to relax and enjoy things we couldn't always do in real life.

It's generally a pretty positive place, although everyone needs a moan now and then. And we do lots of small, personal visualisations when the spirit moves us. It can get a bit whimsical, so if imaginary stuff makes your teeth itch we're probably not for you!

But if a large garden with companion animals and a sandpit for the children suits your needs, do come in and have a cuppa. The kettle's almost always on.

Many thanks for update, Rabbits, and wish I'd been able to see Tuck's first interaction with Food! She must have been beside herself with happiness at being a guinea-pig, not just a family and human friend for cuddles but this amazing stuff in a bowl - hope she does eat enough to show weight gain very soon and that siblings allow her her share.

Hope you're now feeling well enough to enjoy being Matron, must have been a difficult few days coping with two families at once while being unwell. Am assuming that new bunnies will go to new homes when old enough?

New bunnies will be re-homed at about eight to ten weeks, once they are big enough and weaned from mum. I know some people that would do it earlier, but I think that it's nicer not to rush them. I hope to get a picture for you soon, but it will be difficult until they start venturing from the nest, which will happen in a couple of weeks time probably, at which point I will be separating the boy piggies from mum or we'll end up with more piggies (yes they hit puberty at three weeks!!)

I am doing okay, having this horrible allergic reaction to something which has left me very very itchy, think it was my bedding as it was getting worse at night, or my perfume, which I have stopped using (even though I only just got it, waaaaah) so I am on steroids at the moment and antihistamines, and nabbing chicken poxy DD's calamine aqueous cream LOL.

Tuck has taken her second feed and drank a nice amount of water afterwards, not that it has quietened her down, if anything she can WHEEEK louder than usual for mum.

I am going to have to do some work in the garden at some point, clearing my shed and perhaps turning it into a nice big rabbit home for mum and babies. Not sure how my my PA is going to enjoy spider clearing with me, lol.

Glad you're feeling better now, greentrees, and can manage to see relatives without being stressed - always been a problem for me until recently.
In these parts - NE Yorks- "deluge" was about half-a-minute of wet noise, rather disappointing as it may mean I'll have to water containers. It had actually stopped by the time my ears had focussed and identified the sound, hope everyone else had some useful rain (or none, if planning outdoor fun).

RabbitsMakeBrownEggs · 30/07/2012 12:48

Well, little Tuck has managed to gain a small amount, only 2g but this is from her initial weigh in and is the first time she has stepped forwards rather than just maintaining or regaining lost weight.

I shall continue with three soft meals a day for her to see if this continues to help her gain weight. Quite pleased for her. All her brothers and sisters continue to gain well also. We're nearly up to 150g with the heaviest, from those teeny little things.

Will endeavour to bring you some more pictures of them as they are now. Got a couple of Tuck eating last night.

Showtime · 30/07/2012 22:48

Thanks for Tuck news Rabbits, and congratulations on achieving progress for her. Glad rest are thriving too.

Hope parental meeting went peacefully, greentrees and that you're feeling better now it's over. It's not been a good day here, but am hoping med increase will help.

Wishing everyone a good night with refreshing sleep and enough spoons for tomorrow.

Thanks for photos Rabbits, although I've never really got the hang of Facebook and have difficulty viewing.
Glad all are doing well and hope you have lots of interest.

Most beagles are cuddly, greentrees, as most like their tummies and get overweight quickly, being blessed with agility, patience and cunning, but very tolerant about hugs, so help yourself any time. Parents could well be looking forward to seeing you, and have no idea of any stress! Hope all goes well, and that your own feeding goes to plan.
Brews all round, with plenty of espresso available.

RabbitsMakeBrownEggs · 02/08/2012 13:43

I'm in a really crappy downwards funk. :(

Have I mentioned how much I hate sleeping in my blow up bed? I hate it! I want a normal bed back.

Give me heady scented flowers and bees by a rug in the sunshine.

Hugs. Sorry to hear about the funk. Is there a freegle near you? Maybe you could help someone in their clearing out and could get a bed at the same time.

I've been ok, just not online as much (which is probably a good thing!)

Showtime · 03/08/2012 13:14

Sorry to hear the bed's a problem, but won't social services help?

Forgot to buy flowers while I was out, but I do usually buy them for myself "because I'm worth it".
Hope you feel better soon, and that your dc and animals are all well.

RabbitsMakeBrownEggs · 03/08/2012 13:57

Until I can afford to pay a man in a van to move them for me, which trust me isn't going to be any time soon, I can't even afford my rent and bills right now, I'm waiting for this reconsideration on DLA to come through, over 60days since I requested it, called up yesterday and they said call back in a couple of weeks if I hear nothing!

I am about halfway through a community care grant, but I have to do a lot of writing and I can only do that in very small bursts due to the arthritis in my hands.

May end up in crisis to be honest, felt myself slipping there today, my DD took and broke a pair of silver earrings I bought myself as a treat for a night out that I am going on in October. Will be my first proper one in years, it has been getting planned for months, I got a teeny pair or strawberry earrings for a tenner - I hardly ever buy myself anything - and now one is missing and one is bent. I've had about an hour's sleep and I just want to go to bed, but my kids can't be left obviously. Not been sleeping right for weeks and weeks, nightmares, triggered from the past. Feel like I am getting somewhere, then a day like today and it's all right at the surface again.

Sorry to blot our lovely garden with my dark feelings. I am going to try and contact my CMHT.

Showtime · 03/08/2012 17:07

Sounds like a good idea to get onto CMHT, Rabbits - I thought they helped organise life when it got messy or just too much. Shame about the ear-rings, but they're only things that can't love you back, and DD probably feels bad about the damage. Could you straighten the one remaining and wear it as a pendant? No-one will know how long you've had some old ones either. Just an idea, is DD old enough to straighten it out herself?

Another idea - people in cybergarden do go to GP and get meds altered now and again, particularly when not sleeping well, as none of us are perfect...

RabbitsMakeBrownEggs · 03/08/2012 21:21

I wonder if it is possible that this massive sink is related to the big dose of steroids I had to take last week. Feeling weird seems to have coincided with that.

Showtime · 03/08/2012 23:01

Don't know enough about these meds Rabbits, but hope spending time with new animals might help.

What does the leaflet say?

Showtime · 04/08/2012 10:53

Brilliant idea, Mrs M-P, glad at least one brain's in good working order this morning. Let's have a Brew and sniff at the flowers while thinking about starting weekend (and hope it's better than last week, Rabbits).

Showtime · 04/08/2012 21:16

Hope all small animals are doing well, and yourself of course, Rabbits.

RabbitsMakeBrownEggs · 04/08/2012 21:36

Heya, I am okay. Focusing on doing the bare minimum to get by and just counting days, keeping busy with the kids. I'll update you if anything changes.

Hello again, greentrees, was just wondering about you, and how it went with parental meeting - well, I hope.

My RL garden has never been such a disappointment, thanks, but every other gardener I know says the same thing, and most of us have to write something off this year. Do you do anything like this in RL?

Thankyou for the Brew, usually a large espresso at this time of the day, but never got used to the biscuit habit, having to count calories from an early age. A big, fat chocolatey Rocky bic or similar is a favourite "pudding", needing no preparation, otherwise sweets are mainly for special occasions, even now.

Hope you're enjoying this relaxing time, and can manage to build in some me-time some time today, even a few minutes in the sun, and glad you've found beagle's happy to join you in cybergarden.

Must get on today and get to post-office - back later.
