Cybergarden Open Day

Hi all.

We realised there were people on the MH threads asking what on earth the cybergarden was, and could they "join".

The short answer is, Yes, come in and have a Brew!

The cybergarden was started as a support thread for one person, and a bit of an escape from grim reality for those of us housebound one way or another. We just wanted somewhere peaceful and pleasant to relax and enjoy things we couldn't always do in real life.

It's generally a pretty positive place, although everyone needs a moan now and then. And we do lots of small, personal visualisations when the spirit moves us. It can get a bit whimsical, so if imaginary stuff makes your teeth itch we're probably not for you!

But if a large garden with companion animals and a sandpit for the children suits your needs, do come in and have a cuppa. The kettle's almost always on.

Sorry to see you're feeling so bad, Rabbits , and hope being here is calming for you . Have you had a listening ear available in RL ? or is there no one you feel can really call on with this set of worries ?

Sorry for not posting but health condition / overwhelmedness struck < notes Showtime never allows herself to wallow like that , despite much cause >
really liked MrsMuddyPuddles's vision of the garden ( we have certainly had deer in here before , and they'll polish off your baking in no time , greentrees) - feel for you on the strivct calorie restrictions , must be very tough - really hope you sleep OK after ropey evening

< cats curl up at cybergardeners' feet, purring soothingly >

Goodnight all[tea]

I'm looking forward to word on how the experimental slug gardening turns out, showtime, and will add my DD to the small horde of slug hunters. I like the eclectic nature of the borders of this garden, but am sure it can be done in a more formal and uniform style

MrsMuddyPuddles · 18/06/2012 09:07
  • for those of a more traditional mindset, I mean. Very versatile, these imaginary gardens are :o
Showtime · 18/06/2012 09:09

I seem to have delays on postings arriving here, having had no idea that a couple of cybergardeners had turned up feeling ropey.
Hope everyone's feeling better after a sleep, and greentrees, I think I'd wait a couple of days if I were you, if there's still time to have a GP appointment before the weekend, should you feel it might help, but this is really one decision you'll have to make yourself.

Yes I do wallow, futuredream, but frequently forget to post the wallowings. Thought maybe you were not feeling well at present, so I've emailed you - you were missed!

I've been having a hectic ish visit plus haven't quite been in the right space (nor always with internet) in recent days. Yesterday was bad but today is better.

I've been kicking a ball about my MIL's garden with DD, thought I might share this peaceful space with you. It a normal, smallish suburban garden, much smaller than the cybergarden. She has a faded green plastic table with six chairs, and enough lawn between that and the back fence to kick a ball about with enthusiasm but not too much force. About 4-5m in distance, for those who prefer numbers to poetry :) the table is on the lawn, and between it and the house are a mature flower bed and a meter wide concrete path, perfect for the scooter. Due to the way the house is built, there's a covered area for hanging laundry. One side is given over to a veg patch, and the flower bed has a few strawberry plants, placed there by the birds.

I'm not sure what's behind the secret garden wall/ hedge, but will have a think ... if someone else 'discovers' it before I do, please report back!

Same here, greentrees!

Showtime · 20/06/2012 09:37

Welcome to quiet cybergarden, and thanks for refreshments, (mine's the large espresso, necessary for a decent start to the day). Lovely sunny morning here, so hope we can all enjoy some outdoors time, and anyone feeling need of exercise is welcome to join beagle on the trampoline.

I hope it's ok - I'm marking my place so I can come back and read this properly tomorrow. I suffer depression and tje cybergarden sounds like a good place to come.

Mmm coffee! I don't typically take it, but today it's needed (not enough sleep )

Nilgiri · 21/06/2012 10:43

Come on in, STDG. Have one of these very fine coffees from greentrees (thanks!). Mm, I do love my morning Brew.

Oh dear, MrsMP. Busy day ahead?

OP posts:
MrsMuddyPuddles · 21/06/2012 11:19

Thanks Nilgiri we hadnt made any plans at all today, luckily.

I wonder if anyone would mind if I tried baking dog biscuits in the oven here? I've had a horrified fascination with that sort of recipe ever since I heard it existed.

Nilgiri · 21/06/2012 11:23

I think you'll be the beagle's Very Best Friend forever!

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 21/06/2012 11:58

Thank you for the coffee - I am not really human until I have had my first cup (and I must confess to having slept in this morning, so this really is my first cup Blush).

Would the beagle mind if my two dogs came in occasionally? Both of them are good at cuddling up to people who need a cuddle, and the brown lab is like a big teddy bear. Ddog2, a black lab cross, is very long legged, and will be more than willing to help the beagle steal food keep an eye on the food! Both of them would be happy to help road test any dog biscuits that MrsMP bakes.

Nilgiri · 21/06/2012 12:15

Lavender is so lovely.

When I replace my RL lavenders (how did I kill them?! The bee lavender was beautiful), I want to plant near paths, so the scent rises as I brush past.

Oh my, criminal mastermind beagle will be so please to have more accomplices friends.

RabbitsMakeBrownEggs · 21/06/2012 12:20

I am growing my own lavender at the moment. It's still very little though, and I am scared to plant it out in case it dies.

Stuff is bad here, my ex is taking everything out of the house, leaving me with not a lot, so I may have to move in to the cyber garden for a little while as I get things sorted.

Hope you are all well, I read over, but with being a bit all over the place names and things just go straight out of my head.

Nilgiri · 21/06/2012 12:27

Oh good grief, Rabbits. Sorry, hadn't been keeping up with how things are with you. Hope your bunnies are safe.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 21/06/2012 12:34

That sounds very stressful indeed, Rabbits.

Nilgiri - I kill quite a lot of stuff in my garden, and what I don't kill, ddog1 used to dig up and drag round the lawn (including 5 raspberry canes, one gooseberry bush and two apple tree saplings, and innumerable other plants and herbs). She seems to have finally grown out of it, but I am still doing most of my gardening either in containers or in the front garden, where the canine hooligans can't get at it!

Lavender is my favourite plant - I craved the smell of lavender when I was pg with ds3.
