Sorry been unfaithful, lots going on. But making myself useful - here's your new thread x

OP posts:
cityhobgoblin · 14/11/2011 23:33

How fabulous , *shodatin - you are very adventurous . 10 years off ?!!! Envy My favourite part is where you say "if I can put them on again" Shock
Am haggard grump so please ask your kind friend if she'd train HF in coiffure for me

Have been out with dh & friend but am so tired and grumpy that I had a sobbing tantrum at poor lady when she accidentally upset meSad Hope she's not going to bed too upset & believes me when I say it's the 2 other people with whom I've bitten my tongue when they said similar , that I was upset - doesn't it show the importance of the truth testimony , shodatin - always said to prevent such misunderstandings . (Should add am also nervous about something important but not health relate - wouldn't normalyl do that )

Saw renowned folk singer do a talk for our history group with magnificent singing , on topic of the life of merchant seamen , and wish cyberfriends could have joined us

Will go & rest and think of beagles < nightmares of freak waves >

Hoping we're all OK this evening , with Tianc more comfortable & upward less inconvenienced Brew all round

shodatin · 15/11/2011 00:20

Hob, am so sorry you've been upset, and particularly that it seems to have been through a misunderstanding. Can't help but wonder if it was partly caused by stress and tiredness, in which case am sure the other person will understand. You're right about the truth testimony, important for ever more reasons, like becoming more confident when stating a truth and automatically expecting people to believe it, and of course, they do, or so I've found. A bit convoluted here, but hope you're not still upset, and that the important something turns out well. Don't want to be bossy, but hope you can manage an early night and a good rest and that things are more in proportion again in the morning.

Thanks again for the Brew, always appreciated, like beagle tales. I wish I could have been present for the folk-singing too, anything available on YouTube?

shodatin · 15/11/2011 10:43

Lovely comforting message from tianc - wish I could write like that - and glad you're looking forward to seeing friends again soon, without being too tired. It's difficult to go to bed early sometimes, as it's such a good time to be awake, I feel, when the world is quiet, the phone's not ringing, no-one's at the door trying to sell stuff, no more meals to produce etc. I think my medications must be at a good level at bedtime too, because have not found any way to get round the problem, and fully understand.

Am delighted with hair, probably as Thai friend used to work in salon and picked up useful techniques, as well as being happy to go with my ideas and experience, not always the case with professionals.

Still no sign of any Tippy-tails in this area, so probably extinct, although I think DB knows what he's looking for in the big city shops and am still hopeful, and there may be a few left in Thailand when friend's there at Christmas.. I don't like to ask anyone else, people are so busy with good causes and important projects and not everyone enjoys trawling charity shops, but will let fellow-gardeners know if/when one turns up.

Time for another Brew I think (makes enough for passers-by, complete with choc bix for slim ones.)

cityhobgoblin · 15/11/2011 15:12

< soothed > < sips strengthening Brew and makes fresh pot for our afternoon >

So agree with you shodatin on Tianc'ss gift for writing , whether humorous , descriptive or on very sensitive issues , but she would be the first to say you're the person whose unique phrasing & dry wit has had us all convulsed all year

Am incredibly choked up at your empathy understanding & so late at night & hope neither of you is too wiped out . Wish you weren't so horribly familiar with the meltdown from body & brain reaching their limits - last night definitly due to physical factors on top of fretting < re- soothed >

So interesting to hear your thoughts , shodatin on the purpose/ goals of the truth testimony , & very true it helps others recognise the trustworthiness of the person's word . I'd suggest it's in some ways similar to the maxim "To thine own self be true" ( btw "convoluted" or "bossy" indeed !!- absolutely not , & thank you so much for your help .when am being the "sqeaky wheel " & 7yyou quiet)

Aaaah , makes sense that your friend learnt techniques in a salon ( Makes me think of the New York Dolls boys singing about going down the Beauty Shop "to get myself styled" - that is , when I think of going , not associating you with them shodatin ) So true that hair stylists can have selective hearing ... Would love a loose perm myself but not suitable for scalp atm . Will perm make it simpler for you to style ? Haven't been to proper shops for ages , so had forgotten our TippyTails questShock & am smiling at your DB joining in < rolls up sleeves too >

I'm a fan of the early hours too , & of quiet unstructured time generally , nice to know you're refreshed by it now & then

Thrilled to hear you're making plans for a meetup ,Tianc, & hope it will prove memorable

Thinking of you kizzie & madmouse , & hope *upward can get out now , but perhaps essential part has still not been delivered ? Hope other matters are going as well as possible .

Have made you a Youtube link in a PM , shodatin , but the only song available free is a cover & nothing like his usual style , so I haven't plagued any of our fellow gardeners with the link

Afternoon Brew all round , in upward's magical customised form
< hob's pudgy fingers reach for biccy tray & replenish , adding berries & hot porridge less to table >
Still haven't passed on beagle chat

shodatin · 16/11/2011 01:16

Grateful for thinking of the link hob, but couldn't get it to work, and my typed version was rejected, but trusty MFlow found me one of the albums so thanks for the memory
Shame about a perm for you too - HF is about as versatile as my Thai friend if she could manage to perm, but that doesn't surprise me at all. My hair is slippery and straight, sliding down when pinned up so much easier with slight bend to it, as well as a welcome change. I do hope your scalp is soon better, change is good for us!
Am sure the hot porridge was good for us too, so thankyou. (Could just manage another small bowl-ful but really too tired now, so will say goodnight all, and hope we can all sleep well).

Tianc · 16/11/2011 02:27

Hope today has been better, hob, and you've had some good, refreshing sleep despite ghastly frets. Sending you more of those strenghtening vibes we have round here.

And you read my mind about shodatin's writing! Can I add to your praise, that she is also gracious and wise and diplomatic? 'Tis true.

And now excuse me, I have to go snigger about the phrase "Tippy-tails becoming extinct."Grin

How very satisfying to get just the style you wanted, shodatin. Your Thai friend sounds more and more amazing, and can clearly be forgiven her crab-apple failings!

Upward, hope the week is going well for you.

kizzie, still thinking of DH's troubles and hoping a resolution is somehow in sight.

Best wishes to the mouse family, who have probably had their day off today.

Sleep well all.

shodatin · 16/11/2011 09:24

Thankyou for kind words tianc, although find them hard to believe as I do so much less than others - v. comforting too, like the strengthening vibes originating at your place.
Adding my best wishes to kizzie, mouse family, butterpie et al, but particularly to our own upward who deserves a medal for suffering behind closed door for so long; hope you're now free again.
Having quick espresso before going out, but will leave tray and (untouched) biscuit tin if required.

Tianc · 16/11/2011 14:36

Oh that espresso hits the spot! Thank you, shodatin.

I shall have to scrub out and fire up the coffee machine in RL, with all this cybertemptation going on!

shodatin · 16/11/2011 14:54

Cleaning the machine is indeed the downside of proper coffee tianc, which is one of the reasons I'm back with simple cafetieres which only need a rinse (after a sharp tap to dislodge old grounds, I find). It's also why I normally only make it once, in the mornings, and leave enough in the bottom to just top up any instants I have during the day. It's quite usual for people to add some cold water to black instant, isn't it, and it occurred to me that it might as well be coffee-flavoured, so that's what happens chez shodatin, and am frequently asked for the brand name - which is why I'm waffling on about it now.

Am just back from general shop in town near where I used to live, rather tired as it's about my driving limit, but a lovely, mild autumn morning, and pleased that car's going well now and only needs a something renewed on the door, which makes a noise but is not actually about to fall off, which I thought might be the case before the garage looked at it. My Tippy-tail hunt was not successful, but seem to have got everything else.
Hope everyone else has had a successful morning.

cityhobgoblin · 16/11/2011 14:58

< waves to lovely people > Grinat poor Tianc's having been cybertempted onto the strong stuff

Very , very sorry to have fallen asleep last night without posting . Thank you from me too for esppresso , shodatin
What on earth - "do so much less than others ?? " < hob leads shodatin to her institute of mindfulness , where she can free herself of her false consciousness >
< hob realises mindfulness not correct field for her brainwashing techniques but why do the loveliest people not realise how amazing they are ? >

Brilliant work on other thread , Tianc - must stop mentioning such , but very good thread I think . Hope you have more energy this week

Hope your outing this morning wasn't spent only on errands , shodatin , but left time for a snack in the car overlooking a view , or a bit of windowshopping

Grin at"Tippy-Tails becoming extinct" - how distressing

"Gracious & wise and diplomatic" , have never known a person better endowed with these qualities ( poor 8shodatin* today , sorry )

Strengthening vibes & sleep definitely helping , thank you Tianc , & a meeting yesterday was postponed at last minute , which may be a Good Thing .
Thank you both for your very generous support . - at a time when we're all thinking of kizzie & upward , for whom we're all so hoping things have improved

Is it too early for afternoon {brew]Brew[brewBrew]and soothing herbalBrewBrewBrew

Upwardandonward · 16/11/2011 22:47

I'm too tired to say anything sensible, so I just wanted to bring some Brew Brew Brew for the night shift...

shodatin · 17/11/2011 00:12

Greetings and thanks upward, envy night-shift but must go now, x

cityhobgoblin · 17/11/2011 01:05

Ooooo , lovely to see you , upward and many thanks < sips soothing brew >
Sorry exhaustion caught up with you , shodatin

< Hope Tianc has had a good day
will try to return Smile

Tianc · 17/11/2011 01:43

Oh shodatin that's clever to use cool proper coffee to top up instant. Hmm, I'm now contemplating the use of a thermos. What a lovely day to get out and about in ? and how obliging of your car to run so well.

Thank you, hob, I'm much recovered from two grumpy weeks and spent today achieving list A, as displacement activity from more urgent list B. Now I need list C, so I can do B as displacement.Wink

Hope you had a sufficiently restful day, and the falling asleep was beneficial (and you made it as far as bed!). I'm sure you're busy in RL work for the protection of the vulnerable, as well as on MN. Won't ask details, but I'm always aware of your dedication and hard work.

Upward sounds like you've had a busy day too. The wishes for good, refreshing sleep extend to you and all on this thread, including kizzie, madmouse and anyone passing through.

Night shift clocking off here, too.

cityhobgoblin · 17/11/2011 17:07

Nope , didn't manage to come backBlush... and thank you Tianc for clucking solicitously round those of us who crash out on sofa as we're still learning how to pacing ourselves ( & of course that makes poople like me the lucky ones , where there is stillsome element of choice )

Glad you had an ambitious outing yesterday in pleasant weather & your car is better than expected , shodatin , & hope you aren't too tired after pushing your limits (for some reason I didn't see your post - shopping afternoon post , apologies ) Thank you for idea of tasty instant coffee

Delighted you're feeling cheered , Tianc, & I note we didn't realise you were down in the dumps more than once or twice during the whole long fortnight .

Am guffawing at your plotting displacement list C so can do list B as displacement ...it's an art form .Of course displacement activities comprise merit entire threads on MN Grin

Thank you so very much for your encouragement for my horribly scant efforts , which I show off about , whereas your good works are modestly toiled at , but are certain to have growing influence

I hope to one day add effectiveness to my wildeyed sense of purpose Grin
What would I give to have your articulacy for the Battle of the .... the ..... < see ... stumped >

Lots of tasks to do here , after beautiful sunshine .
Yesterday I spotted the first home Christmas decorations up in my area
If not too late , BrewBrewBrewBrewBrewor light soup ...

Hope your calorie counting is bearable , upward , & that you have a few default options for the times when you haven't the energy to think about what to prepare . Hope too you can think of giving yourself a mental holiday from the long weeks of effort in some form . I don't mean to sound negative , as your persistence has inspired me to try to make the 10 % improvements in diet etc etc kizzie suggests . I 'm findingfind the next 10% , or 2 % , feels achievable after a reasonable interval

Will keep eye out for Tippy -tail , shodatin < sees scurrying movement in corner of eye >

Tianc · 17/11/2011 21:52

No shodatin yet today, but I think Thursdays are often DB days, so hope she's had a good day and is now getting much needed rest.

And hope that sunshine appeared in misty Yorkshire, too, and in the Thames Valley. We certainly had it down here too, hob. 'Twas lovely after so much grey, wasn't it?

But I'm afraid DP pipped you to the post with Christmas decoration sightings ? last week. Oh I do actually like being housebound at this time of year. No jingling, no decorations, no buy buy buy adverts, watch recorded stuff on telly and fast-forward through the ads: bliss! Then I can have a few days of Christmas... at Christmas!

Upward any news on your door, or are you still dependent on other people to operate it? Hope that's been resolved and that the flat is feeling properly like Home, sofa and all.

I'm aiming for an early night for once, so I'll leave hot chocolate warming on the summerhouse stove, and say good night. But I might pop back later finish any leftovers!

shodatin · 17/11/2011 23:09

Have only just realised I've not been in touch today, just been busy I'm afraid, catching up after yesterday's trip. (And I knew there was something I'd forgotten...)

You're right about DB Day tianc, but it's weather-dependant at this time of year, plus I need to finish three more curtains for him, so maybe next week will be DB Day.
Thank you for kind enquiry about DSis, but am embarrassed to say I've not been in touch lately Blush.

Thank you for the hot chocolate, which is much appreciated, and I don't deserve it at all.

Hope everyone's had a reasonable day, and that upward is now free again.

shodatin · 18/11/2011 10:02

Good morning all, and hope everyone's well-rested and able to join me in the usual coffee - or magic drink of choice, as previously organised by upward.
Not much sun in these parts, but have so much to do at home I'm hardly aware of it. What does strike me is how many of us are struggling with physical problems, and the huge effort required for getting through quite ordinary days. There are not too many people in my RL
able to understand, so am grateful for this thread, apart from the general amusement and helpfulness generated.
(Big slurp here for necessary energy to continue, and
Thanks all round as well as Brews.

shodatin · 18/11/2011 10:03

And here's the missing ) which seems to have dropped down.

Upwardandonward · 18/11/2011 23:17

It's good to have a safe space here, with Brew and Flowers in the cybergarden. Sleep well everyone!

Upwardandonward · 18/11/2011 23:17

Thanks even!

shodatin · 18/11/2011 23:22

Another busy day, mainly sewing curtains/linings for DB, which might have been quicker without the machine, it takes such an age to thread the needle, but now nearing the end. Next project will be to dress Christmas tree, as Thai friend would like to have a photo before going home for Christmas and New Year, so will have to start soon.
Hope everyone else has had a worthwhile day.
Will say "goodnight" now, in case I don't get back to laptop this evening, and hope all sleep well.

cityhobgoblin · 19/11/2011 00:22

Happy new day with much enjoyment here of ylovelyFlowersfrom 8shodatin & upward* >

Truly upset not to have been able to say hello before , as shodatin's morning post was so thoughtful & comforting .So grateful to have thiwith people who understand & who I learn so much from .

You are a saint to hand sew those for DB , shodatin , & as for doing your tree next for your friend to enjoy - absolutely lovely thing
Hope Tianc is not burnt out after tacklingthe stressful topics on that thread ... promise am not stalking you , but that is the absolute best description I've ever read of how one can feel powerless in the face of decision makers . < pins medal won in the civil rights battle of the C 21st >

Hope upward finds plenty of peace & safety this weekend
Very busy day , & lots of unearned fun - saw a civil rights poet from New York ( 2 pounds unwagedSmile)

Love to 8kizzie & madmouse*

cityhobgoblin · 19/11/2011 00:24

sorry for typos - still rushing when should be snoozing Blush... have not had alcohol , was just wishing us all a happy new day
