Smile

Sorry been unfaithful, lots going on. But making myself useful - here's your new thread x

OP posts:
Upwardandonward · 11/11/2011 13:36

Gosh, I'm extremely impressed/in disbelief - the repair people have just returned w/chair with a shiny new frame only 5 hours after I phoned them Shock Grin - only need the door to make my day complete...

Tianc · 11/11/2011 13:43

GrinGrinGrin

'Tis the armband.

Tianc · 11/11/2011 13:48

Now for the door people.

Upwardandonward · 11/11/2011 14:24

Definitely down to the armband Grin

Tianc · 11/11/2011 15:32

Aaah, that's what I need in my life this very minute .

Upwardandonward · 11/11/2011 17:03

Mmm, the In the news thread is heavy going...good that you and others are trying to get people to understand the statistics manipulation.

shodatin · 11/11/2011 17:48

Amazingly good news about the chair, *upward! I had a look at your photo, and realised immediately that your chair is much more modern than mine, and doubt I'd be bright enough to operate one, let alone have ideas for fixing it.
Am so pleased you got such a fast repair, it must indeed be the armband and our solidarity dealing with inanimate objects - or maybe hobs time-travelling cat organised a time machine for wheel-chair repairs, but whatever, it's really good news you're mobile again, and we're all hoping you 'll be able to manage the door very soon.
Afraid I don't understand the statistics at all, if you mean the financial mess, and I
don't think many politicians understand either.
Hope everyone's had a good day. I had to phone the garage to remind them to pick up my car (nothing unusual there), and it seems only minor repairs are required. Spent the time stuck at home doing boring, necessary stuff, like defrosting fruit pulp to continue making jelly for friend-of-friend who donated fruit, and so pleased it's finally over.
Many thanks to kind person who made Brew earlier, much appreciated but if I check back for name, am likely to lose post.

Upwardandonward · 11/11/2011 18:22

It's benefits-related stuff, shodatin - things like saying under ESA 7% of people are found unable to work because they're only talking about the support group...rabble rousing :(

It sounds like you can feel worthy for getting on with things :)

cityhobgoblin · 12/11/2011 00:03

Yes indeed upward , blackest propaganda . Local disability anti cuts group been trying to find new startegies to counter all this .

So sorry no goodnight - fell into my nestbox for a nap & forgot to wake up . Horrified to see about upward's frame cracking again at such a bad time, & - < cartwheels at update> Sounds as though really good people there , wow Smile Of course it's the armband
< HF looks smugly at hers >

Armband successful with your car too , shodatin !! Great joy

Didn't realise you have a profile , & can't see the photos , no doubt quite rightly too
Thanks to Tianc for making great efforts last thing to help cybergardeners last thing at night Didn't know some Shopmobility "branches" could have powerchairs

Thank you Tianc for answering my wails of despair about my Battle of the Objects . Seems only to have been gasman again Tis most definitely in ther plague zone atm . The agents ( biggest in town ) seem to employ very grumpy workmen who like to work at shortish notice , which is legal but means home has to be respectable ...housing situation insecure anyway , is the problem
I have a mindboggling problem with organising stuff < where did I put your armband down >,ADD , dyspraxia or similarr - definitely not on within the spectrum of healthiness so I wear myself out cleaning but ... < my have complained long & loud about this previously ) Desperate to ask GP about possibility of diagnosis / bit of OT when other referals have been finally decided upon . Self help website , Flylady etc help in meantime . [thank you] all for letting me offload thatBlush

GrinGrin at the incantations this afternoon

HF has fallen into crisis due to guilt over finding she doesn't wish to hunt dormouse Tianc . She has enrolled in an introductory course in Peace Studies at futuristic Feline University ( non feepaying - funded by tax levied upon Fat Cats ) in the hope of reconciling her role in the community with her ethics - particularly difficult to decide what to teach the younger generation , she tells me .
< hob too shocked at the only paradox that has been suggested so far to tell it , & needs more positive developments in our time travel >
< stops complaining & picks up of chocolate Sword of Truth > < sees comrades have been employing it trustilyl on other thread >

V impressed with this jelly making , shodatin . btw , I saw a local news piece about bees being more active & hungrier than usual due to warm weather , and storing the sugar solution deep within hive Smile
Brew all round , sweetened with willingly - donated honey

Tianc · 12/11/2011 01:41

I'd like to raise a glass to small victories and tentative good news in the Battle of the Objects: Upward's chair, shodatin's car, hob's managing to do some tidying up, and my teaspoons and draught-proofing (major improvement).

We have so many battles to fight, often the tiniest things are huge obstacles for us and completely halt even our modest plans for going to the shop, cleaning the kitchen, talking to a friend.

Sometimes it just feels relentless, a perpetual downward spiral of "Oh god what now." So I just wanted to pause and celebrate our tiny victories.

hob, hope you were cosy in your nestbox, and feeling refreshed by sleep. So sorry you're struggling so much with organisational stuff. It can sound trivial compared to dramatic medical problems, but it really impacts one's quality of life. Much empathy, and I do hope you can get some sort of help ? though it sounds you're already very organised wrt self-management techniques.

And those threads on benefits are grim, aren't they? I can't bring myself to read the latest fine details ? but I'm Grin at Her Felinity's Fat Cat-funded university. Thank you for making me laugh out loud despite the awfulness.

shodatin, so glad you managed a productive day, if a rather boring one. But fruit jelly sounds exciting from here! Was this a glut, to be frozen and then transformed? Yummy!

Upward good luck for door people very very soon.

Greetings to all friends passing through: kizzie, madmouse, NanaNina, butterpie. Hope you're all keeping well, though very busy.

Sleep well all.

shodatin · 12/11/2011 10:07

Can't remember now what I was doing yesterday evening, but obviously not posting here, so many thanks to friends for updates.
Wonderful news about HF's proposed Peace Studies and three cheers for who-ever organised the Fat Cats' contributions. Remembering tales of dogs attending various Quaker Meetings for Worship, wonder if HF might be interested in joining something local?

Thai friend was given crabapples by tree-owner hoping for jelly, but as this is not part of Thai culture, I got the fruit and friend planned to buy her friend a jar instead, knowing my limits in kitchen these days. Having a break from jelly-making while fruit sat in freezer seemed a good idea, so am pleased with self for finishing project.
(And hope I don't receive any more crab-apples).

Had forgotten powers of armband while car was away, but maybe need help with time-travel as it was one-and-a-half days late being collected, and have not found solution to this problem.

shodatin · 12/11/2011 16:36

Have just remembered, tianc's brilliant toast to all our small recent successes, no doubt down to our elegant new armbands and renewed confidence in our battles with the Objects, and would like to announce "hear hear",
with apologies for being a bit late as usual.
Hope hobs had a good day organising things - have stopped worrying now and rely completely on lists, but I do remember thinking that I'd never catch up and have my life organised, like the rest of the world.

Am also impressed that virtually everyone on this thread is keeping up-to-date with projected cuts in various benefits, while HF probably knows more about these than I do
Despite being sadly ignorant and almost permanently behind, am still looking forward to having a day off tomorrow and doing even less than usual. I might even consider the roses, how I still have half-a-dozen in bud, which have avoided the first frosts and might continue to bloom for another few days although I've done absolutely nothing for their welfare ( will stop being philosophical now and try organising a list for next week).

kizzie · 12/11/2011 17:54

Room for a little one needing 5 minutes sit down ???

Had a horrible, horrible week. (Its all linked to DH work - basically a partnership breaking down and false things being said about him. All very upsetting and worrying. Lots of tears etc. Not going to talk too much about it because of the lovely reminders on this thread re. anonymity)

Anyway I know ive got to accept that these thing happen - and to hold onto the old mantra 'this too will pass'.

Took the boys for a lovely long autumn walk today and it really helped blow away the cobwebs.

Im so sorry I havent had time to read through all the posts - but just picked up on shodatin pain Sad. I really hope the extra painkiller is making some difference.

Take care all x

shodatin · 12/11/2011 22:21

Hi kizzie, lovely to see you again, and you're always welcome. Such a shame about partnership problem, but these things do happen and you have the right mantra. It's possible there will be apologies and handshakes again in the future, and not everyone will believe the negative comments anyway. Hope things improve for you both very soon.
Thanks for kind enquiry re painkiller, yes, it's a relief not to worry about side-effect this time, and can still drive, but other people's posts are far more interesting, and might even make you smile.
Time for some Brew while waiting for other gardeners to turn up.

cityhobgoblin · 13/11/2011 00:24

Thank you for Brew, kind shodatin , and for keeping us going with such lovely posts today . Am still writing post in Notepad[bush] but wanted to wish us all a peaceful night , with moonlight shining down ontoshodatin's rosebuds - thank you for your hard work and huge apologise for not managing to post all day .

(((( kizzie))))
< kizzie squirms in horror > Sorry you've had such a hideous , frightening time , and I know you know the truth will prevail , but it's so scary & disorientating trying to manage everyday life , keep things calm for the dc & look after your health in the meantime .

Hope Tianc had a good day - how to thank you for magnificent post last night , and for instituting our little (pacifist ?) battalion for the BotO ?
Hope ssomuch that upward is not feeling too low from cabin fever , nor too exhausted from all the other things going on / held up by door problem

Am feeling more organised etc , shodatin ,and greatly comforted by your kind words on how you felt about it at one ( no doubt exhausting & stressfulSad time ) . Amazed you made the crabapple jelly as a favour for friend of a friend , and hope you had leiurely time today

back in a bit , but saying goodnight and a most inadequate thank you to Tianc for last night's fabulous post < forgives Tianc for nibbling choc Sword of Truth >

< lugs sack of of praline filled replica Swords into summerhouse >

Tianc · 13/11/2011 01:14

Oh kizzie! How horrible! Sad

People telling lies about one, usually for their own gain, is just unbearable. Much sympathy to you and DH, and strengthening Brew to keep you going until, as you so rightly say, this too does pass.

Autumn walk sounds just the medicine ? are the leaves still brilliant reds and orange where you are, or do you now have bare black branches against a louring sky?

hob, shodatin, Upward, sorry I'm still being a dormouse today. Have just picked up computer briefly to say good night.

Hope everyone rests well, and we all have a good day tomorrow.

shodatin · 13/11/2011 10:47

Swords of Truth in chocolate? With praline filling? How wonderful, I'll take enough for my little army to withstand a siege. Not certain how a couple of Quakers got involved with any kind of swords, not least a sack-ful of replicas and not got the energy to read back and find out, but will certainly have a few, at least enough to bribe DB to do any object-moving (chocolate being our usual currency).

A miserable, misty morning, but rosebuds still opening very slowly, must be a record.
Tray of espressos (and assorted Brews) coming up.

Tianc · 13/11/2011 16:51

Mmm, espresso just the thing right now.

kizzie · 13/11/2011 17:12

Thank you for the lovely messages Smile.

It makes me smile that this thread is still the 'late summer' edition - right down in the depths of November - even if it is ever so slightly unrealistically optimistic Wink

x

cityhobgoblin · 13/11/2011 17:30

Not optimistic , kizzie Grin - pretty warm for mid November . Your aautumnal walk sounded good .>Hope you have a steady week & thanks for coming back today - 'you'll be in our thoughts & best wishes every day

Thank you for espresso, shodsatin < clinks with Tianc
l Grinat shodatin*'s , & your edible currency for DB
Did rack brain for replica /pacifist sword made of alternative materials as feel very mean mentioning sweeties on here , with upward having been patiently working at calorie counting for weeks and weeks. Hope you have a less hhectic week , upward .

Very sorry to see Tianc still a small woodland creature , & hope her rest is redoubled in therapeutic value by news of HF's re embarking in her time machine , no doubt beaten to it by Tianc's DP reaching wicked spindle proferrer before she tricks Tianc into pricking her finger & needing much extra sleep

Thrilled to hear about your rosebuds nearly in bloom , shodatin

Thinking of all servicepeople & civilians on Remembrance Sunday , as we were discussing only the other week people affected in our wider families

restful evening to us all BrewBrewBrewBrewBrewBrew

shodatin · 13/11/2011 23:53

Many thanks for Brews provided by ever-hospitable hob, and thanks to observant kizzie for mentioning title of thread - I must see the name a dozen times a day without realising we're a few months out of date. We're only just more than half-full of posts, so could well be back in date again before we change.
Have to say"goodnight" now, as eyes tired and don't like screen, but wish everyone a peaceful evening.

Tianc · 14/11/2011 01:00

Thank you for the Remembrance Sunday reminder, hob ? I'm easily confused now we seem to have an 11/11/11 memorial and then another on the Sunday. As you say, thinking of our wider families as well as everyone else this week.

Hope everyone had as good a day as possible. Grumpy and unwhimsical here, I'm afraid, but tomorrow will be better.

I wonder if your mist burnt off later, shodatin? It's arrived here this evening, after a welcome day of sunshine. Delighted the roses are slowly opening.

hob, hope you and yours are keeping well and making slow improvements. Is it too intrusive to ask about MIL again?

Upward hope you're now free to come and go and test the new chair frame but not to destruction.

kizzie, hope the coming week is better for you and DH.

Sleep well all.

cityhobgoblin · 14/11/2011 16:07

Hope today is much better , Tianc & glad you saw some of the sunshine yesterday . Agree about confusion with Remembrance Sunday . I think in Britain after WW1 the silence on the 11th was the time most marked by loved ones , & not everyone was happy about the messages given out by the Sunday parades - I must look it up

If I hadn't dozed off after visiting MIL I could have answered your kind & certainly not intrusive questuon by saying she is staggeringly more energetic & mobileShock, & happier , largely because of the PEG feeds Docs still can't prove from cultures what disease she has, but have stopped most of the strong ABs ( & the IV ones always leave her with mild euphoria which makes it v tiring to chat with herGrin Sorry such a long answer ! She was relating latest beagle anecdote < saves for later >

Very good point shodatin that we could reach spring again on this thread ... or have we already ? We have spring bulbs coming up for the second November running ! Last year they were covered in huge drifts of snow that same month , stopped growing for a couple of months but stayed healthy , & only bloomed a month early in the end.

Another one here hoping upward will very soon be able to to go out . Must have been dreadfully complicated / impossible to manage , having a great deal on & such obstacles . BrewBrewBrewBrewBrewBrewBrew

cityhobgoblin · 14/11/2011 16:07

sorry for my usual multiple typos

shodatin · 14/11/2011 17:02

Such goodmnews about MiL's health improvement, even if it does leave you in need of a rest, am sure it must be a welcome change and no-one likes taking ABs. Will remind you if you forget to relay latest beagle tale, when you're sufficiently recovered, of course.
Hope tianc's not too exhausted after weekend, and that things are looking better for Kizzie and family, plus I really really hope that upward's door is fixed.

Just had an entertaining afternoon while Thai friend permed my hair, as can't manage salon sitting. Am told I look ten years younger, but that might be because the beautifying party included more dramatic eyebrows, and am looking forward to next weekend's Skyping experiences (if I can get my eyebrows on again).
