Smile

Sorry been unfaithful, lots going on. But making myself useful - here's your new thread x

OP posts:
Tianc · 08/11/2011 00:22

I'm actually too tired to even imagine shaking out the cybergarden's warm, heavy rugs, so may I just fluff up the moss in our dormouse nests and curl up again? Will I be like this till the clock next strikes midnight, or do I have to wait for a full moon, or the wind to change, or something? DP says I should never have fiddled with that spindle the nice fairy godmother lady gave me...

Anyway, hope you've all had good days, with nice things planned for the week ahead.

So glad you have the history talks to look forward to, hob. Not surprised you're exhausted after the stresses of the last month or so ? hope your body can catch up a bit with all this sleep.

shodatin it's been grey here for days now, so I wonder if the sun is finally poking through at your end.

Upward I guess town is humming again where you are. Hope all is well, and you're enjoying busy real life.

Greetings as ever to madmouse, kizzie, butterpie, NanaNina and all.

< screeches up >
Argh argh argh , missed you all , being incredibly thoughtful and breaking records for making reader shriek & read out excerpts ( dh a big fan of your pithy phrases , shodatin ) .

< treasures mournful dormouse's bemusement >

So , so wish you lovely people could be in perfect energy & comfort , & can only hope for fabulous people to cheer you , & caring professionals when required . Delighted to hear good people have surpassed themselves , shodatin . Your poor DSis - are her stars in inauspicious positions this month ? not meaning to be flippant , & hope things improve now .

lots more to reply to but need to take a break before late bedtime
< tinkling of fairy godmother's laughter >

Hope we're all safe from her mischief as we stargaze / doze off ... poor curled up Tianc

shodatin · 08/11/2011 09:21

Morning all - am amazed that people can stay up so late - sorry had no time for goodnight as too tired to move to bed without big effort. We do seem to suffer from energy loss on this thread, but can at least understand each other. Have filed away hobs description of mossy nest for tianc, which sounds like wonderful winter alternative to cybergarden, no words required, just gentle nudge to make room with others in quiet nest - but I suppose we'd get bored eventually.
Am sure you'll get surge of energy again soon, tianc, and this is just part of recovery process after being exhausted for so long. You're both so lucky to have understanding nearest and dearest who can help out when necessary, but I know they're appreciated by both.

Upwardandonward · 08/11/2011 13:10

Just popping in with some Brew Brew Brew , which is like the medicine from Mary Poppins in that it becomes whatever the drinker most likes.

I have been thinking of everyone, but lots and lots on at the moment (including a council that seems to think it's fine for me not to have been able to get out of the house since Friday...)

Tianc · 08/11/2011 14:25

Ooh, thank you Upward!

But Angry about your door going again. Absolutely not on. Are your assistants able to get in by opening it manually, or are you completely cut off?

shodatin, I think we may have been cheating by sleeping in the day.Wink

hob complete x-post with you again! Will catch up soon!

shodatin · 08/11/2011 14:44

How thoughtful upward, to arrange for whatever we'd most like to find in the Brew, and it's much appreciated.

It's really not on that you've been unable to leave the house, even one day's delay is unacceptable, and am wondering if you could ask one of the HCP's to look into this for you. I don't suppose you feel up to contacting the local paper, but it might produce some action. Sorry you've had this added inconvenience, and I do hope it's finally being sorted.

I was late returning from shopping trip - supermarket been extended so kept getting lost - but on returning home about 2p.m. it was dark enough to seem like the end of the day and am fit for nothing much.

Hope others are feeling more energetic and hopefully seeing more sun.

cityhobgoblin · 08/11/2011 14:44

Oooo thank you , upward for magic Brew < sips very sweet soya drink >
Brilliant to see you , but hope the large amount of activity isn't too stressful - apart of course from the attitude of your council AngryAngryAngryAngry I magine a person without a disability being imprisoned like that .
Have seen 2 cases in local paper /TV of councils leaving lifts unmended / gates unusable for certain impairments, resulting in longShock periods of confinement... I think the publicity worked . I take it an advice / rights centre has been liasing on your behalf ? Looks like councillor / MP might be needed ? ( presume no local law firm might do a bit of free work ? ) I only hope you're not feeling worse physically due to wearying negotiations.

Thank you shodatinfor posting first thing ... where have the last 5 hours gone ? - in inefficient bustling whilst trying to wave to you all ..

I agree know it's a totally different life , for me at least , with a partner "on my side" ( very different in my experience to having one eager to point out your mistakesGrinl . Dh is brilliant, even if he sometimes feels he can't find the find the right words at the time , especially when seeing loved ones under stress .
... I take great pleasure in speaking up for him too when people try to take advantage of his kindness .I simply wouldn't have here now without that support , & I promise you I cherish every moment & don't take it for granted at all after seeing DM widowed young , & having many friends who'd have loved a partner in the first place I know no amount of planning for the worst can prepare a person for the impact of such a loss & the reality of dealing with situations singlehandedly .

( It's all very well holding an absent person in your heart or even feeling their presence , if one is so fortunate , but you want their conversation to be audible once in a while , & for other close friends to be able to chat at odd hours - as isn't really possible , however kind they are . I'm so glad you have made the effort to keep up some of your friendships , as do know people who've withdrawn due to effects of health struggles , losing vital cheer & memories of the outside world which can keep a person going Sad Sorry to sound so gloomy)

I absolutely love the history group we go to , Tianc , attended by the people who set it upin the late 60s , all struggling bodily nowadays but incredibly good fun .

< sets off to find a wise witch who can instruct us on how to lift gingery jinx from Tianc >

< returns some years later > Well , Tianc , Your DP may wish to leap upon a faithul steed , enact a convuluted plan to switch your identity with another's , obtain a time machine ,or he could simply wield the trusty Sword of Truth through many perilous tests < phew >
Being non sexist types here , we'll all have a try ...

< will miss our little dormouse >

shodatin · 08/11/2011 23:12

Hob, I'm waiting for next episode of Tianc's fairy story, which is wildly exciting, particularly the bit with the fiery steed, but am going to suggest that "our dormouse" has another little nap, at least until we can lay hands on a time-machine.

Am pleased you both have good relationships, nothing like it, although I do appreciate my remaining friends and what seems like the return of my DB after the depressed years.
A card nearby reminds me that "No road is long in good company", which seems like a suitable motto for cybergarden.

Wish I'd thought to have a rest this p.m., as am now thinking of bed, although am aware others will stay up and I hate to miss anything.

Hope upward has managed to find some help with the door
and will soon be able to move freely again, otherwise this could be a serious health risk.

cityhobgoblin · 09/11/2011 00:22

Thank you for your lovely post , shodatin - am also eagerly awaiting developments in our tale Grin but a sure they will evolve witout effort from any of us , except waiting in suspense , of course .

I love that quotation & how true it is , & apt for our cybergarden Smile ...No doubt the card sender was pointing you out as the good company

Sorry , behind tonight - haven't yet thanked you for replying to my questions about your garden , frost etc. the other day . Thrilled to ear roses have come out so late .

Agree very worrying situation with upward's door & hope it's sorted by now

Yes indeed , our dormouse must snooze & not worry about posting tonight -- nergising vibes to her

Peaceful , safe night to us all

Tianc · 09/11/2011 02:07

Blush You're all too lovely! Much better today, expect to be cautiously back up to speed tomorrow. Assuming DP manages to get the fiery steed into the time machine, that is. He's not good with horses...

[edits out small, embarrassing scene with much clanging of helm on lintel, some tittuping and pirouetting of large, annoyed animal, and a bit of shovelling up (but will be lovely for the roses...)]

Ahem, wonder if the witch's plan would work with a picture of a horse? But the time machine ? not a problem! DP'll have his screwdrivers out and reverse the polarity in a jiffy!

Shame he can't do the same for Upward's door. Grrr. Good luck for the council arriving tomorrow.

And sorry, shodatin 'twas your lovely post about the roses I crossed with last night. How glorious for you! May the frost leave you untouched till they have bloomed!

It's also so good to read that you feel DB has "returned". Even though I'm sure meeting up must be very, very depleting for you. And hob put into words my thoughts too, about doing the difficult stuff without someone dear to talk to.

Wink
shodatin · 09/11/2011 13:30

I do hope we're all feeling well today, despite miserable weather, and that tianc especially is feeling back on form - you deserve to be after your DP's rodeo practice, and especially loved the "good for the roses".

Thankyou for adding the motto to the cybergarden, where we can all appreciate it, and hope it encourages upward at this difficult time.

Tianc · 09/11/2011 17:34

Mostly grey here, too, alas ? but just cleared enough to create moody, pink-tinged clouds at dusk. So another frost-free night for everyone, I hope, especially shodatin's rosebuds.

cityhobgoblin · 09/11/2011 23:51

So glad you're feeling better , Tianc ... "good for the roses" Grin "rodeo practice Grin, shodatin*

Wish I were a publisher , Tianc , so I could snap up you & shodatin & promote volumes of your wit for a huge audience -wouldn't be surprised if had already been done-. thank you for bringing such unique enjoyment to a day comprising some of life's irritations , thinking especially of upward this week as you say , Tianc

Am totally defeated by trying to find accurate description of how much I've guffawed today at the proposed refinements to our own fairy tale ... I haven't laughed so much since ... spilling my popcorn all down the auditorium during a Neil Simon film or seeing Kung Fu Panda on TV again < still gasping for breath > ... no , you are 30 X funnier than a Restoration romp featuring magnificent actors < pretentious >

< waves to upward > All hoping the council have sent door mender , & that the door is readily mendable ( not so optimistic Confused )

The motto so elegantly displayed in our cybergarden is perfect for our gardeners ...
HF in cheerful mood despite her twilight guarding of the territory coinciding with torrents yet again . She enjoyed Tianc's description of the early evening sky in her area

Am managing better than usual today , thank you for asking after us all , shodatin , & hope you have had unexpectedly positive evnts today too ? Wishing you improved weather so you might have a pretty sunset before the days lengthen again - not many weeks to go now Smile

Accidentally slept away the morning but was able to make adrenaline fuelled tidying efforts when & I thought cross knocker -upon -door was another workman sent round for improptu home improvements ( & indoors not fit for eyes of strangers )... just haven't managed to keep on top of things this year, but was able to do more today than had expected -wails of despair-.

Midnight fast approaches & we're all in suspense - am sure Tianc's DP has been able embark upon his brave ventures with a photo of the brave equine

< is optimistic polarity has been successfully reversed >

< brain judders with effort of understanding time travel >

< cybergardeners sip upward's unique BrewBrewBrewBrewBrewBrew & wait with bated breath for dormouse metamorphosis >

cityhobgoblin · 10/11/2011 00:40

... not expecting metamorphosis yet , and if a person is still a dormouse she should snooze peacefully without worrying about heroic quests

Tianc · 10/11/2011 02:26

Ohhh my god is that the time? Shock

Breathe, hob, breathe! You're going Sad waiting for me!

So much for today's resolution of posting at decent times. Humble apologies and will try to do better tomorrow!

shodatin · 10/11/2011 09:33

We do need some better understanding of time travel, certainly, and preferably before we're all changed into dormice. Noticed hob slept morning away (not surprising with amount of brain-power required to continue the tale), then tianc decided to post around 2 a.m., so polarity not yet reversed. Am wondering if HF.s time-travelling experience could be utilised here, as she's probably a bit baffled about appearance of dormouse (and picture of horse brandished by tianc's DP), realising that once again, the humans have not quite understood the theory.

cityhobgoblin · 10/11/2011 15:39

shodatin , I laughed so loudly on reading your post I startled a passerby on the pavement BrewBrewBrewBrewBrewBrew

Haven't been able to post till now due to long running PC issues ...It's clear shodatin that one of your fairy godmothers endowed you with this wit you employ to brighten our days , & another gave you the generous heart to share it & make life fun . ( sorry )
You 've picked up perfectly on HF's thoughts on our efforts , & indeed my efforts in most fields , as you say Grin

No no Tianc , not Sad waiting ! sorry if I mithered you . Hope you're able to do a little more today - hopefully , of course , a lot more ... I 'm fairly familiar with that " is that the time " moment .

Hope we're all reasonably comfortable today , & that things have become less hectic for upward

Much to do for rest of afternoon ... < washes whiskers >

< HF sighs & teleports herself to find Tianc's DP's time machine , which works perfectly but has been sent in wrong direction by spatially - challenged staff member to HF >

< staff member realises she doesn't know difference between time travel & teleportation >

Tianc · 10/11/2011 15:56

Erm, think you're right shodatin. Definitely need Her Felinity's expertise on this one.

(Remind me, how did I end up on a thread with time-travelling cats?)

shodatin · 10/11/2011 16:58

Once again, I'm short of creativity hob, but actually remembered that cat expression of superior disbelief (they all do it, whatever size or colour), while waiting for human/s to fix stuff.
Have laughed out loud myself, from start to finish, and thanks to Tianc too, who seems to be stuck in time-machine.
Regards to upward, hoping you're not still stuck in your house and thinking inventive things about local council.

Tianc · 10/11/2011 18:00

Hahaha. Was interrupted writing above, so by the time I'd hit post, hob, you and HF had overtaken me! Actual time shift!

Upwardandonward · 10/11/2011 21:32

The door isn't sorted (they need to order a part), and my powerchair's frame broke this eve at the welding :s (took weeks to replace last time) I'm trying to focus on the positive...

hob, shodatin & TIANC , I'm interested by all this time-travel! kizzy, madmouse and butterpie, I hope life is treating you well.

shodatin · 10/11/2011 22:16

Such a shame the door's still not fixed upward, and am wondering how you're managing, assuming people are bringing things to you. As for the chair, am wondering if you were doing exercises in it; never heard of a frame breaking.

It's altogether a difficult time, but you're doing well, and right to try focussing on the positive, like wondering how long it will take hob's time-travelling cat to sort out the problems.

Tianc · 11/11/2011 01:39

Good grief, Upward! Never rains but it pours.Shock

Right, don't know if this is any use, but your local Shopmobility has powerchairs for hire. I won't link but google Shopmobility + your town. Of course they may not have anything suitable, but worth a call to find out?

My Shopmobility are lovely, btw. I'm sure I've sung their praises before, but I can't do it often enough.

Hope you're managing OK apart from every inanimate object in the universe conspiring against you.

Hah, hob, if you're still worried about indoors being tidy or shiny for strangers, you're way above me. These days I settle for not-actually-likely-to-give-visitor-plague...

So was the cross knocker (great description) actually another workman? Hope the improvements are forging ahead if so. And sounds like you got a lot done yourself, too, after a much needed morning snooze. 'Ave a Brew, you've been working hard!

shodatin, your description of the contempt of cats for their incompetent humans is perfect! Just so! Hope you had enough energy to get through the day, and have made it safely to bed.

Sleep well all...

Upwardandonward · 11/11/2011 08:29

Unfortunately the same thing happened with my last one. It's tilt in space, so a lot of the weight goes through one bar at the front - you feel a bit of a bounce when you come off a drop kerb onto the road, last night it just dropped rather than bounced. I've hopefully uploaded a photo onto my profile.

Thanks for the idea TIANC - unfortunately I need specific seating.

I hope everyone had a good night, and that today is productive.

Upwardandonward · 11/11/2011 10:15

PS I'm impressed - they've just taken the chair
