Morning all, and thanks to hob for birthday wishes, yes, am happily collecting them already due Bank Holiday etc.
Good wishes reciprocated for today's problem - am sure you'll manage it beautifully and there will be no disaster, but you know we'll be wishing you well.

Do you feel like telling us why the wedding upsets you? Is it a Marxist reason - understandable - or some non-political propaganda I'm missing at present?

Wonder what snowmash thinks about it? (please join in if poss.)

ThisIsANiceCage · 30/04/2011 18:49

Rather jealous of your overnight rain, hob, we could have done with it here. Sorry, I'm probably being a bit dense about the RW - please do say more, if you fancy. Hope your thing went OK today.

And that everyone else has been having a good day.

Not much happening here - but have discovered Tuesday's electrician somehow buggered the solar hot water panel electronics. So that's nice. Hmm

On the plus side, yesterday we finally potted the new bay tree! Hurray! Grin

Except, ahem, the bay "whip" was just a leeetle bit smaller than the webpic. As DP put it, no danger of another man-in-van theft, but it is at serious risk from a pigeon wanting nest material! Thirteen centimetres tall, my new bay tree!

Definitely time to share big pot of Brew and put feet up in the cybergarden!

kizzie · 30/04/2011 20:17

Sending Biscuit and Wine and lovely wishes for shodatin birthday.

i was very sorry too to read about your DH but very happy to hear that you have a (grown up) DS - and also think your personal gift idea is wonderful.

Aston Martin was my favourite bit of the wedding. x

kizzie · 30/04/2011 20:19

Sorry quick add Hope whatever it was went well today!

shodatin · 30/04/2011 21:26

Thank you, kind people, for birthday wishes. Have decided on this year's present to self, but not yet ready to get it, so will just have other people's cards and presents to open tomorrow.

Hope our thoughts were helpful for you today, hob, and it went well.

Glad your new bay has been potted TIANC, although it's a shame you're disappointed about the size. Mine's about the same but was from a shop in town for £2.50 so am not complaining. Such a shame about the solar electrics - would it be worthwhile getting the same electrician back or is there still a shortage of people who understand how they work? (Remembering a friend's comment 20 -odd years ago)

Will be in touch later about Twitter kizzie, if you don't mind.

shodatin · 30/04/2011 22:06

Have just seen the ISS go by! I love the idea that there are humans flying among the stars, or so it seems from our earth viewpoint, and can hardly wait to get a telescope and shed to keep it in. Anyone else seen it?

ThisIsANiceCage · 30/04/2011 22:35

Oh forgot to look for ISS again! How cool that you saw it!

Leccy was just supposed to be shortening a couple of cables, no solar-specific expertise required. I'll have to troubleshoot with system manufacturer by phone on Tuesday.

Interesting your bay is the same size - last year's seedlings, I guess. We'll have to compare notes as they grow!

Hope madmouse has caught up on sleep, and snowmash had good day. On my way up for early night, so to all. Sleep well, all you lovelies!

shodatin · 30/04/2011 23:23

Let's hope we can both hang onto our bays this time, but I'm tempted to take a cutting now if there's something long enough.

ISS could be viewed again Monday evening around 9.10 p.m. here.

Goodnight from me too, sleep well everyone.

madmouse · 30/04/2011 23:51

sorry all be back soon I hope

Hello again. Hope all is well with you and family madmouse, and that you had a successful shop for the important dress.

Also hope snowmash is recovering well and life's getting easier for you.

ThisIsANiceCage · 01/05/2011 14:30

Happy birthday to you,
Happy birthday to you,
Happy birthday dear shodatin
Happy birthday to you!

Hope it's a lovely one, and the sun's shining!

cityhobgoblin · 01/05/2011 14:38

Happy birthday *shodatin !!!! wish MN had those emoticons of dancing people

So sorry not to have wished you happy returns earlier, but internet was down for ages in local area . I trust you're treating yourself to lots of relaxation & chatting to friends & family.
Been racking my brains to think of a jolly site / link to send you , but they all turned out too tacky rather than bringing the party to you . Dh suggested instead a favourite site www.imagesofwales. which I hope you will enjoy as much as I do , when you have time.

Would be lovely if snowmash has had the chance to see the ISS , inspired by the thread.

Aargh many times over about the electrician's mistake , *TIANC . Hope your bay tree shoots up fast

Hi madmouse , take care of yourself , & hope mousling feels better

Thank you so much kizzie & and shodatin & TIANC for positive thoughts ...very attention seeking of me butwas a demo by the far right in a nearby town & local people gathered for a peaceful rally to counter their allegations about minorities & say this town welcomes all.. Fortunately local police were determined local businesses weren't going to suffer so there was no trouble that I saw, but we were all really nervous. ( would like to invite some of the less hardened wouldbe fascists to nice socialist & Quaker meetings -Grin )com
Hope pixie clan have a good day

Have a lovely afternoon, shodatin

ThisIsANiceCage · 01/05/2011 14:43

And hope everyone else is having a good day too.

madmouse, thinking of you whether you're posting or not. Same with snowmash and Pixie. That's the lovely thing about a garden - you're always thinking, "Oh, doesn't snowmash's lavender smell nice," or "Pixie's orangerie will be useful in this weather."

hob, have just seen your post, so will take few mins to take in, but looks like a huuuuuge Well Done & Thank You is due. 'Ere, have a Brew.

shodatin · 01/05/2011 14:47

Thank you so much TIANC and cityhobgoblin! What a lovely surprise, and at just the right time too, afternoon. Will certainly have a look at the site you mention, and am very touched that you've told me about it, thank you again and will certainly have a look later today. Grin Brew Cheers!

shodatin · 01/05/2011 21:01

Thank you kizzie, I did enjoy the day, and hope it was good for you too.
Hope snowmash is improving, and will soon feel well enough to post.

Thanks to hob for doing her bit for civilisation yesterday, I did think of you.

ThisIsANiceCage · 02/05/2011 00:18

So glad you enjoyed your day, shodatin.

snowmash hope yours has also been OK.

Just popping by to say goodnight, sleep well one and all.

cityhobgoblin · 02/05/2011 00:30

That was lovely kizzie . Hope you've been feeling an improvement in anxiety levels , inch by inch ..I found it a slow process , you have to be very kind to yourself & it's easy to" blame " yourself , whereas some anxiety has its root in physical causes , the little ailments & hormonal fluctuations we hardly notice.Iknow you know this , but don't forget it for one second!)

Glad you enjoyed the day , shodatin & thanks for your thanks ! Am regretting that I didn't also link you to a more celebratory site...was in the mood for some glam rock but thought better of it [cgrin] Hope there are one or 2 more birthday moments to come as I think a day or two isn't enough.

Thank you & TIANC so ,so much for your kind words , very touched . I know you feel similarly on these matters & I swear I could feel positive thoughts coming to me from thread. Sorry for being so attention seeking but we really did need the Force . Enjoyed nice time with amazingly nice newish friends after [csmile].
( btw , yes my horror at the R wedding was about our political system , plus sexism - you & TIANC were getting quite worried there Blush , sorry for my silliness) .

Hope TIANC had a good day followed by good quality sleep .

Peaceful night to all

Hope indeed that snowmash can drop in soon , as we miss her.

< Goes to find out more about the ISS >

shodatin · 02/05/2011 11:52

Morning all, and thanks to hob for giving info to nosy people re politics - I don't normally ask because I was taught that these opinions were private.

I can't tell you much about the ISS, it's just part of my stargazing really, which has been such a pleasure and comfort during previous nights of insomnia. There is a MNer, called I think Ohwhatabadbadkitten (should check this memory) who does know lots about subject, and weather etc, plus a male who'se name I've totally forgotten who gives really helpful posts and explains the more technical stuff that Nasa puts out. (Wish I could be more helpful but I do need to write stuff down to remember accurately)

And I forgot to say "goodnight", so belated thanks to TIANC.

cityhobgoblin · 02/05/2011 13:55

Late morning all! Hope all who needed a lie - in , had one . Are you sleeping OK, snowmash?
Probably a silly question - are the meds making you profoundly tired / sleepy in the daytime ? You know we're all sending positive thoughts / prayers

Yes indeed shodatin, keeping political views under wraps most of the time makes sense when you're trying to keep day-to-day life flowing smoothly drama in communities , but in my family (my Dad was from overseas) those views have never had the same taboo around them as income & religion - must try to be more discreet [cgrin]
(I bet you heard some heartfelt views at home as you grew up ? I notice you speak very fondly of your parents - really like it when one can sense people's enduring influence upon the world like that).

Many thanks for info on ISS related threads - I do recall v interesting threads by the Mners you mention -- will look them up. Glad stargazing was such a help .

Hope TIANC and kizzie are having a good weeekend, and that madmouse hasn't come down with mousling's cold . (extra miserable for a singer).
Thinking of you , pixie.

shodatin · 02/05/2011 23:13

Hope everyone's keeping well and had a good day, but I'm off for an early night.
Peaceful evening to all, special thought to snowmash.

madmouse · 02/05/2011 23:22

hi all

no Hob not come down with cold and mousling fine again - just finding it difficult to post at the moment due to own issues and don't want to bring them on here too much

hope everyone is well - see I missed a birthday - bestest wishes Shodatin x

Hey there. Thank you, lovely weekend here.

snowmash hope your day was as good as possible - there's a Brew for you in the summerhouse any time you fancy.

Sorry the bad stuff is still whirling round, madmouse. Sad Wishing you the strength and stamina to plug on through the horridness. So good to hear mouseling is over his snuffles.

Oh, and you know we want to hear about the confirmation dress, don't you? Grin

hob you're not at all attention seeking - at least not for yourself. Attention for important causes, that's different. You've prodded my conscience, too, cos I've been ducking political stuff for the last few months weeks, but really ought to revisit it.

Went out to find ISS this evening, shodatin, almost bang on 9:10, but the twilight sky was full of scattered bright shiny things - many of which turned out to be aircraft - so we failed dismally.Blush as I used to at least follow the moon phases and Mars, etc.

Warm thoughts to kizzie, butterpie and Pixie clan. And welcoming Biscuit and Brew for anyone I've missed or who lurks.

Night all.
