Thanks *TIANC for the tip about falling, you're right. Years ago I was told to think of yoga while on my way down, ie relax for less damage, and I'd forgotten. The worst bit is around my knee, and not yet an interesting colour, but am sure it will heal in time.
I used to take phone into bathroom with me when first living alone, and I did once have to call for help (unlike a friend who spent the night in the bath, unable to get out, luckily the over-head heater was on). I'm actually too worried about waking up in hospital these days, but it would be sensible to see what the council have on offer.
Isotonic slippers used to be favourite indoor footwear, ballerina style stretchy fabric with thin leather sole, but not available locally so I have one almost worn-through pair (repaired yesterday with remains of DH's suede coat).
Something soft and fastened firmly would be safest, but it's difficult to do the necessary bending. I once asked around about indoor footwear, as only one of my friends used traditional slippers, and those were usually a present.
Back soon, and sorry for delay hob, weekends sometimes difficult.
