hello Smile

Afternoon all, Hope it's better in the sunny south, as all grey and miserable here today, but at last am feeling back to normal and able to do a bit of bouncing again. Thanks to everyone for helping me through while I was hurting, and will try not to do it again plus will get info on call-buttons.
Hope everyone else is well, and that hob will soon be posting properly again - they're never too long, actually.

ThisIsANiceCage · 25/07/2011 16:01

Beautiful drying day here today! Have washed woollies and am now on quilts!

So very glad you've got your bounce back, shodatin. Smile Alas that your weather is not similarly sunny. Is this more of what you called sea fret?

Have a Brew in the sunny cybergarden, brushed by gentle warm breezes that smell like summer.

There are softly padded chairs by the tinkling fountain, where a blue tit is thinking about taking a dip. And the light is dappling through the flowing water.

cityhobgoblin · 25/07/2011 17:46

Afternoon , all - fabulous to see you , upwardandonward . Have you got your favourite reading / hobby materials around you now , after the disruption of moving , and do you feel up to enjoying them yet , in short sessions perhaps ?

Thank you for lovely Brew , TIANC. You are all so lovely , sniff sniff . ...
Well ,the "On" button is working for now , mended perhaps by dh's inadvisable wedging of it with a lolly stick Shock He assures me the wire is behind the button and nowhere near the sides , but says to not recommend the method ...

Yaaay for bouncing shodatin , & thank you for reassuring us when we cluck round you . Hmm , been very hot sun here till now - but was grey and miserable yesterday , if it's any consolation ! Very pleased with myself to have got washing out here too , but heavy woollies & entire quilts definitely trumps me ... time to settle by cyberfountain and watch delicate bluetit hopping about in such picturesque fashion .

( What am I thinking of to have forgotten to mention our precious cyber nightingale - I'd never heard one till now , shodatin ).So pleased phone and Skype back in working order , and sorry for being so insensitively enthusiastic for call button , I know it's not a cheery business .

Thank you & TIANC for kind interest in dear niece - and sorry , sorry , sorry , I should have said it's not me who lost a brother a few years ago , but poor dh ( who fortunately copes amazingly as has strong belief in an afterlife ) . DN chose her place of study purely so she could surf everyday Shock.

Your niece sounds more career - minded , *shodatin - is she finding the new workplace to her taste ? I'm so sorry you & DSis had to be at a distance from each other when she was widowed , and you as well I fear . You obviously know the fears for youngsters in that situation & I'm glad progress is promising - your niece sounds fabulous to have expanded her life outwards like that .

Good to see you kizzie & your telling - off of yourself made me laugh . Now , please don't be working too hard < wheedle >

Hope you've been sleeping well yourself , upwardandonward , and having some nice food delivered , if at all possible .

Upwardandonward · 25/07/2011 19:16

I hope you're feeling less shaken, shodatin The washing sounds industrious, TIANC
I'm trying to do a jigsaw at the moment hob - trying to do different things so I don't compare. Unfortunately my sleep is poor at the moment (wouldn't have thought I'd get used to the quetiapine),

madmouse and * , I hope you're both having ok days

cityhobgoblin · 25/07/2011 22:58

Sounds an excellent idea to do different things in order not to compare , upwardandonward . Never finished a jigsaw in my life , far too difficult ! dh loves them , though - I think shodatin also .

So the quetiapine causes severe enough side effects to interfere with your sleep , or is that caused by other health problems / stresses ? Obviously don't answer if prefer not to < puts large fans in everyone's bedrooms and passes round cooling lemon balm and mintBrewBrewBrewBrewBrew
Hope we've all managed to pace ourselves today . Her Graciousness waves her paw to you all ( cleverer than humans , sits inside cool bushes in hot weather ).

ThisIsANiceCage · 26/07/2011 00:11

Ah, the hi-tech solution, hob. Grin Matchsticks also traditional for this, I understand... Very glad it means we have you properly online with us again. And Her Feline Majesty, obviously.

Sorry you're not sleeping too well at the moment, Upward. It does make getting through the day that bit harder, doesn't it? Hope today has gone OK. Am inspired by your jigsawing! We should do them more often here.

Can I admit to getting ridiculous pleasure out of laundry? [easily pleased emoticon] Was contemplating this earlier, as I solved a problem (spill on quilt) by simply putting it in the machine and pressing On. And later there was the quilt, flapping idly in the breeze and quite clean - and making me feel, as Upward says, so industrious. The washing machine is very nearly my favourite gadget in the house. If only there were a Washing Machine of Life! Gentle wash, short spin, and everything as good as new. (Yes I do know I'm barking. Grin)

Hope madmouse, kizzie and shodatin have also had good days, grey weather not withstanding. Wishing you all decent rest, and to wake refreshed in the morning. Night night.

shodatin · 26/07/2011 00:12

Three cheers for hob's dh for fixing button with lolly-stick; worth knowing about! A friend's office had expert with PCs who knew exactly where to put a pencil and wiggle it - they were all stuck while he was out/at lunch etc.

I certainly did enjoy jigsaws, 500 piece size for small desk and available from our lovely mobile library, then I moved and never got space available again, sadly.

Elder niece newly settled in Melbourne alone, hoping to be joined by more family but postponements making life difficult and work not as good as hoped, so have fingers crossed for her at this difficult time, knowing she'd rather be in UK.

I don't know what quetiapine is, upwardandonward, but I do understand about side-effects, and hope you feel better soon. Have now given up on trying to increase dosage on one of mine, or I'd hardly be out of bed.

kizzie · 26/07/2011 20:04

Hi everyone - just a quick hello to day that I wont be logged on for a couple of days as going to be with my sister Smile.

Wishing you all peaceful and content few days x

cityhobgoblin · 26/07/2011 20:24

< hob's dh Blushes furiously and Her Majesty raises her tail tip in a feline smile >

Evening everyone - dear gods , today's rushing by and I wish my home decor could undergo a Washing Machine of Life laundry TM TIANC to save my spring summer cleaning it . Grin at easily pleased emoticon and matchstick whizz tech man - hilarious that the office ground to halt without him . btw TIANC , wish I could pop whole sets of people in for a launder and have them emerge with refreshed , slightly fluffy outlooks < puffed up pompous emoticon >

Hope we're all well today , and that upwardsandonwards has had a better night's sleep last night , though it's been so sultry I fear not likely .

Sorry your niece has had those setbacks , shodatin . She must be having to really grit her teeth - even more admirable of course . Is there some chance she might visit the UK for work eventually ? I guess she / you 'd like to know the answer Sad.

Oh shame about lack of jigsaw space . Is there any way of fitting one of those little overbed tray tables into an unlikely corner of your hallway ? Guess that could be hazardous . Oh yes , I remember I've seen ( in a freebie catalogue insert ) mats that hold the partially - done puzzle and roll up until you can place it back on your table etc . Wonder if someone still makes them ...

Hope kizzie and madmouse are OK today and we all have a good evening

cityhobgoblin · 26/07/2011 20:25

Aaah , you too kind kizzie and hope you have a good time with your sister

madmouse · 26/07/2011 21:19

Jut popping in to say hello - and to do some quiet recovering in the garden (like the evening/dark)

Had a massive reaction to a low dose of citalopram this weekend and was really rather unwell mentally as a result, ending with quetiapine to calm me down.

Now off all meds and slowly settling down - doctor has signed me off for the week.

Hi everyone - hi upward Smile

Hi everyone. :) thanks for the constant supply of Brew

I'm sorry for your med expeeience madmouse I hope everything settles soo

shodatin · 26/07/2011 22:40

Hope you enjoy time with sister, kizzie; you deserve a break after extra work.
Sorry about drug reaction madmouse, it's miserable when they make you feel worse, and I do hope coming off them makes you feel better. I had to stop trying for small increase with one of mine and recognise disappointment too.
Thanks for music TIANC- you really do think of everything! Will try listening later. Thanks for all the Brew too.
Hob, niece did part of latest degree here very happily, but rest of family are decided on Australia and it's just unfortunate this impressive job came up before they could join her, now a two-year delay for various reasons which is hard for her.

Hope you have a good sleep, upwardandonward, and everyone else. Will be off myself very soon and attempting an early night.

Upwardandonward · 26/07/2011 22:44

Sleep well everyone, wishing peaceful slumbers

ThisIsANiceCage · 26/07/2011 23:37

shodatin so sorry you've had to give up on the drug increase you were trying. Is there any chance you can try again, maybe when it's winter and you don't mind hibernating for a while as the stuff kicks in?

Congrats to your niece on her fantastic job - fingers crossed the "not as good as hoped" bit is just temporary. It does sound very hard on her to be in alone if she was expecting to be with family.

hob you are a genius wrt thinking of those overbed puzzle trays.

So nice to see madmouse. Hope we all got through the day safely. I'm off for an early night - wishing everyone sweet sleep or quiet restfulness.

ThisIsANiceCage · 26/07/2011 23:39

Sorry, should have waved to Upward, kizzie and butterpie.

ThisIsANiceCage · 27/07/2011 16:38

Hope everyone having an OK day, maybe even with some real sunshine. And that kizzie is enjoying her visit to her sister.

I've been up the loft again. I'm insulating the small loft section a little bit each day - which I can do because the end of the roof has now been reinforced! Hurray! Puh-leeze don't let there be anything else major wrong with the house...

cityhobgoblin · 27/07/2011 17:56

Thank you for Brew , TIANC . < cheeeeeeeers newlyreinforced roof end and TIANC's formidable toiling >
Oh my , you are wearing a good mask for that , aren't you , please say you 've found a decent one ? - not all that easy IME . I recall dh doing loft for his parents and I read up on it - iffy fibres etc , as you know . Sorry to be such a grump but I worry about lungs . So pleased the work on roof is complete , and we'll all have everything crossed that there'll be no more major work needed on house . Should be a warmer and more economical winter , obviously .

Oh noooo, lost a fairly long post an hour ago when Mn went offline ... why didn't I write in Notepad as usual < dunce emoticon >

Poor madmouse Shock- I'm sorry , only realised today that anxiety thread was yours . Hope you have a healing week after your horrible experience . I too love the cybergarden at night .

Sounds like your DN been doing extensive postgraduate study 's shodatin degree" - you must be so proud of her hard work in adversity . Two whole years to wait - poor girl . Perhaps fate has exciting experiences and wonderful people in store for her during this time , which she'd have missed out on if happily in the bosom of her family - hope so , anyway .

Hope none of us is suffering too much from the warmth , and we're all sleeping OK , especially upwardandonward, who wishes that for us all . < resists temptation to link to song from youth entitled Sleeping Dust as a touch pretentious even for me >

Wow wow wow , TIANC , thank you so much for that unearthly music < still in trance > I hadn't heard it before and will explore a lot further .

Hope upwardandonward has been able to do somethiing nice today and that we all have a pleasant evening

Here's one version of the roll I had in mind , shodatin

cityhobgoblin · 27/07/2011 17:58

sorry for typos - thought I'd checked properly < helps self to spare Brew >

shodatin · 27/07/2011 20:36

Hi hob, and thanks for the news of jigsaw roll, which is a brilliant idea, and might look into it when I'm doing less crafty stuff/have more time.
Yes, niece is finding it difficult, and thanks for your comment, which I'll pass on.

Been surprised at comments re warm weather, as it's only just average in these parts, although the garden's blooming and I only water the half-dozen pots these days. Some creature seems to have nibbled the limnanthes buds, also buds from the multi-coloured poppy plants - forget the name but I recently planted another four as I enjoy them; obviously something else shares my taste but it's disappointing. Will eat eggs tomorrow and scatter shells in that area - lupin and courgette have had them all so far.
How are your delicate plants doing kizzie?

shodatin · 27/07/2011 22:19

Was it hob who enquired about any cats in my life? (Just remembered that someone did). DH and I had a sweet white one - because we had mice and beagles were not interested and we knew someone looking for a home. She thought she was part of the dog section of the family and just joined in, but was not my favourite animal because unlike the hounds, she could and would jump onto tables, worksurfaces etc, not only for food but to sit in sugarbowls, enraging me as I just had to throw the sugar out every time. Father had been attacked on the face by a cat while walking past a high hedge; he loved every other species I think, but we didn't have cats at home for this reason.
Nowadays I think they're great characters, but prefer other people's.

Sorry it's so long - I shouldn't have remembered to answer after all.

shodatin · 27/07/2011 23:16

And now it's time I made my way to bed, wishing I could have done as well as TIANC in the loft, many congratulations, must have taken ages and not a nice job, but so worthwhile.
Hope everyone has a good night. BrewCheers

ThisIsANiceCage · 27/07/2011 23:56

Always love hearing about your menagerie, shodatin! I'm sure you'd mentioned your doggy cat - but sugarbowls? What on earth...?

Sorry your plants have been nibbled. Much empathy for your battles against the Slugs of Doom.

Thanks for all good thoughts about my house. hob, that's so lovely of you to think about masks. Yes, I have a really good one with removable filters - invaluable over the years. Finishing the messy jobs up there will bring us that bit closer to setting up the home office, which will be a such a positive change.

How annoying for you to lose a long post, too. I don't have your good habit of writing in notepad, but try to remember to copy my post each time - just in case.

Upward and madmouse, hope today has treated you both kindly, and maybe even had a bit of sunshine. Wonder if it's reached kizzie at her sister's, too.

Time for bed. Wishing everyone a peaceful night of sleep and refreshing rest.
