It was a lovely day here, shrubs at front are smart and tidy again and hope everyone else has had a good day. My blackbird was a bit of a nuisance, hopping along in front and slowing me down instead of flying away as is normal, which makes me think he's been a pet at some time. My Thai friend was talking to him later, and told me he has no fear (and I thought she was having a conversation with the musician next door, hearing the cadence but not the words).
Will say "goodnight" now, as I should be up and away early in the morning).

ThisIsANiceCage · 21/06/2011 00:35

Hey there. Sorry, unaccountably shattered this afternoon/evening after good morning, so still not giving you all the attention you deserve.

shodatin, sorry to hear you're struggling with a drug change right now. Hope it settles down quickly. madmouse hope things are improving for you too, no matter how slowly.

Will share bedtime Brew with you all, hob, butterpie, snowmash, kizzie, Pixie et al.

Sleep well all, here's to a bright, bushy-tailed day all round tomorrow!

shodatin · 21/06/2011 14:41

Hi TIANC and thanks for good wishes. You must actually need the rest if feeling shattered - doing too much? Bedtime too late?
My drug change is just an increase of one, but is unbearable even when limited to Sundays, when I don't have to drive. Am just having a moan really, so best ignored, particularly when remembering what snowmash puts up
with.
Viva bushy tails!

shodatin · 21/06/2011 16:56

Hello people - must make an announcement, as It's raining! Not much, but very glad to see it, and hope everyone's had as much as required. Ahhh.

cityhobgoblin · 21/06/2011 19:58

Evening good people , viva bushy tails indeed , and yaaaaaay at your midsummer rain , shodatin . Sorry to hear the dosage increase is so unpleasant , and I distinctlyremember snowmash telling one of us who felt she was being a wimp to complain when snowwmash had it so much worse , that she, snowwmash , firmly believes it's all relative . Besides , you only mentioned it to chat with APieOfButter, who I hope is OK today. Oh yes shodatin , how adorable about your blackbird hopping along to chat to you & your friend.

Ah TIANC, is it a case of the extra hours of rest not being therapeutic really , just tediously necessary ? Hope you've had plenty of good points today.

Am fine , with lots to get on with , and a remarkable feeling of emotional "protection" as it were from the RL stresses that would normally be taking their toll , so am enjoying that Grin

Hope kizzie, madmouse, pixie and aPieofButter are OK today

shodatin · 21/06/2011 20:54

Hello hob and good to hear from you, as usual. Pleased you're feeling emotionally protected, and long may it continue, particularly with lots to do.
Hope the others you're working with feel the same way.

ThisIsANiceCage · 21/06/2011 23:35

Just sharing quick Brew this evening, then early night.

Sorry, I'm fine but in non-talky mood at the mo. Really glad you're here keeping the kettle on, hob and shodatin, so there's a cuppa for anyone stopping by.

shodatin · 22/06/2011 01:10

Thanks for the Brew TIANC, it's lovely that you remember (and I so rarely do). I meant to have an early night too, and wish I'd remembered that.

Hope we all have a peaceful night and wake rested tomorrow.

shodatin · 22/06/2011 10:39

Another beautiful morning, and all looks good in the garden, so will put out a few chairs and plan to just sit around later.

snowmash · 22/06/2011 22:15

I still only have limited mobile phone net access, but I just wanted to say:

Everything is definitely relative!!!

I am thinking of you all - I'm hoping to get out of hospital soon so I will at least be able to go to the library and read this thread.

I also want to say thank you very much to everyone who encouraged me to talk to my GP, gave general encouragement etc. on the earlier thread & via pm. I understand I was very unwell/ill, with severe/psychotic depression.

shodatin · 22/06/2011 23:07

Dear snowmash, it's lovely to hear from you again, and such good news that you'll be out of hospital soon. You were indeed very unwell and not yourself, which is why we were all so very worried for you. Thanks so much for posting, and particularly for reminder about relativity - am so pleased that you're recovered. Hope rest of week is good for you.

ThisIsANiceCage · 23/06/2011 00:14

Oh how wonderful to hear from you snowmash! And what fabulous news that you may be out soon! Oh that's made my day! Hope you're keeping comfortably, although I'm sure things are still often tough.

shodatin hope you had a lovely day sitting out in your moist garden. I quietly cheered yesterday at your rain announcement. Smile Am also chuffed that you lured the wet stuff briefly from here, as I went into town and didn't get wet. Ha! (But got nabbed by a talkative person, yikes.)

hob, can I offer you a big Brew and a Thank You, without articulating exactly what for? You guys make me think a lot (in a good way), and I still have more to do...

Happy happy greetings to everyone in the garden. Grin

shodatin · 23/06/2011 00:29

Hi TIANC, yes, what a surprise to hear from snowmash and what good news.
I just had to share news of rain! Glad you got to town - was this the shopping trip? If so, I do hope it was successful and not too tiring for you. I had an unexpected visitor this p.m. so been stuck indoors, and now it's bedtime, so I'll wish you (and everyone else, particularly snowmash) a very good night.

cityhobgoblin · 23/06/2011 19:19

Hi everyone , what a fabulous post to see from you ,snowmash, and it's so good that you were able to confirm your opinion ! Your courage these past months has inspired me.

Very interesting posts and so sorry didn't post yesterday . I need a rest but will post properly later - good rain again there , shodatin , hope you're not too exhausted by unexpected visit.

< picks up TIANC's Brew of a day or two back very gratefully >
< finds a toad hopped in & glad didn't reheat it >

shodatin · 23/06/2011 21:58

Hello hob , welcome back and I hope you manage to have a decent rest after exertions and will have recovered by tomorrow. It was such a surprise to see snowmash's post, and such good news about leaving soon, but I can't imagine what I'll do without the cybergarden to natter in, once snowmash is recovered and at home.
Hope you liked toad-flavoured Brew, you don't get that in many places.

ThisIsANiceCage · 23/06/2011 23:50

Urk! Splurk!

shodatin, don't see why we can't continue to laze in tend the garden! Thank you, yep, that was my planned little outing. The whole of the internet has failed to inspire me wrt a prezzie for family anniversary, and town did little better - but it was good to get out. Hired a powerchair, too, which was fantastic: I see you, hill, and have no fear. Grin

Hope you had a good day with your visitor, and are not too tired now.

hob I've seen you being very busy these last few days, keeping butterpie company. And I suspect in RL too. Hope you're getting enough rest.

Wishing everyone good sleep tonight: butterpie, madmouse, snowmash, kizzie and anyone passing through.

shodatin · 24/06/2011 00:19

Hi TIANC, glad your shopping trip was a success, and good for you for using the powerchair - I'll look into these as I'm so limited now.
Am tired myself as new Firefox necessitated changes, I've messed up and had to stop CCleaner half-way through and something odd has happened to both homepage and Mumsnet, so tomorrow will do the reversion thing and start again (if I can remember how to do this, of course). So pleased we can keep the garden, and look forward to snowmash joining in again. Take care, and goodnight all, will close down now before gremlins really get going.

shodatin · 24/06/2011 12:44

Good morning people- I see it's now lunchtime, and apart from a quick shop in the village, I've spent the morning trying to reorganise Firefox. (This is Internet Explorer, so have not done very well). Left a message for the friend who got me started with the laptop, so hoping for some help soon.

Gardening update: I plan to plant out the precious Limnanthes this weekend, hoping they're now too large to attract blackbird couple, and yesterday evening I picked first lettuce leaves for today's salad; not a sign of a slug or snail, being grown on old breadtray about a meter above ground, not pretty but very effective indeed. Am sure we must have something similar in cybergarden, as it works in RL.

cityhobgoblin · 24/06/2011 16:45

Ooooh yes please to snowmash' s cybergarden getting one of your high-altitude slug fortresses, shodatin . I think we'd all vote for growing some flavoursome salad leaves .
I started to post hours ago but an unexpected caller & other distractions called me away .

Really hope you & your friend can work out the problems with Firefox shodatin , and you remind me again that improving my pitiful computer knowledge is high on my list. ( says hob unknowledgably )
Thank you for update on the Limnanthes & I hope bees will enjoy it , & your romancing blackbirds will hop daintily around it ..

Sorry you didn't find the anniversary gift / inspiration in town TIANC , but good that you enjoyed getting out & were impressed with the powerchair - hearing these experiences makes me feel more optimistic for the future . Sorry to hear you're more limited physically now , shodatin , & although I'm sure you approach this fact in your usual matter-of-fact way , I hope you'll be extra kind to yourself with distractions / a little socialising during days which are harder than others .

Hope you're not wiped out by warmer weather TIANC and thank you so much for thanking me for the thought process I'd unwittingly sparked off in you . Am sure it will bear interesting fruit . You can't imagine the inspiration & new ideas I've drawn from the impressive people on this thread . ( So very good of you to think I'm helpful but I 've been of little use to butterpie or anyone else this week - but your unearned praise revives my efforts no end Blush )

Hope madmouse, kizzie, pixie and butterpie are all OK today , and that it isn't unbearably hot on ward for snowmash & fellow occupants . Do you all think we could have a cybergarden party this weekend , to celebrate snowmash's lovely news ?

shodatin · 24/06/2011 17:42

Good to hear from you hob, and I vote for the garden party this weekend, but am still having laptop probs despite friend's visit, like needing to sign in here with password every time, plus four clicks before that. I had similar problems with the last update, but this is worse and Chrome doesn't want to work without being default setting - sorry about complaints people, just don't know enough.
Hope everyone has an enjoyable evening.

shodatin · 24/06/2011 23:07

Just popping in to say "goodnight", as I've spent hours more trying to re-establish homepage and need a rest from the screen.
Hope we all have a peaceful night and wake up ready for the weekend.Confused Need an "exhausted" emoticon.

cityhobgoblin · 25/06/2011 00:08

Peaceful night to you shodatin aafter your incredibly frustrating time trying to sort laptop . I wonder if you've tried the Mumsnet Site Stuff board ? People seem very knowlwdgeable on there . I read the bits you wrote about the problem to dh & he's puzzled ( helpful aren't we ) . Very annoyed that you've had to exp[end such a lot of your precious energy on it .

Hope TIANC and all lovely thread people had a good day .

I was very stressed earlier by a workman turning up annanounced & doing some outside drainage work when I didn't hear him at the door - the letting agency will give dh a hard time about (me) not answering door / phone at all hours , argh .

Had an amazing evening as went to a local gig by one of dh's favourite musicians and as the band / fans are retirement age , we were all seated < phew >. The man himself waved to us for clapping along so enthusiastically Grin

ThisIsANiceCage · 25/06/2011 01:01

Oh what a lovely idea, a cybergarden party! Will check in at a decent time tomorrow to see what's going on.

Brilliant you enjoyed the gig, hob. But I so know what you mean about the stressful, unexpected workman, and people who expect you to take calls at all hours. Many people wouldn't be in anyway, so they can hardly whinge if you're there and don't answer. Grrr.

Very impressed by the lettuce crop, shodatin. This raised horticulture sounds the way to go. Jolly impressed you're tackling your laptop troubles yourself (speaking as a technophobe in this particular field). Hope you get a good night's rest and recoup some energy.

Sorry to hear you're looking at a deterioration. Sad Mind you, my quality of life shot up when I started using wheelchairs/scooters, rather than struggling to "carry on as normal" and frequently failing. Will have to write a quick summary of wheelie options at some point, which I'm sure other knowledgeable cybergardeners can improve on.

Late night Brew for all you lovely people, snowmash, butterpie, madmouse, kizzie and anyone else drifting through. Hope we all get a refreshing and invigorating night's sleep.

madmouse · 25/06/2011 08:42

Hi everyone thought I'd come to say hello - after actually having had a decent night sleep

Actually put stuff in writing at work about the stress getting on top of me and there will be a meeting on Wednesday morning. Think the relief helped me sleep.

Was lovely to hear from Snowmash - had a PM from her as well. Hopefully this thread will still come in useful when she goes home so we can give her a bit of support settling back in (if she wants it).

Hope everyone is doing ok - happy weekend :)

Good morning all, and thanks to hob and DH for interest in laptop problem/s. Briefly, I needed to get expert in after last Firefox update, this time when I did System Restore not all of it seems to have worked and homepage, emails etc are still frozen, plus this site is completely different, so I might look at Site Stuff, but will probably get expert back to replace it with Chrome, which I can't seem to complete by myself. On "paper", everything's fine but reality suggests screw missing somewhere. That's all on subject, as I really don't know what I'm talking about, just that it's unreliable at present.
Sorry you had workman stress; it does get complicated if third party involved and I do hope it's now sorted and you can relax. It sounds like a good evening you had afterwards, and there's nothing like a live performance.
Must go and attempt to get into emails.
