Morning all.

shodatin · 25/06/2011 12:44

Hello TIANC, yes, I think a Brew would be an excellent idea! Time I sorted some food too, before first Skype message arrives.
Hope you're having a good day, back soon.

cityhobgoblin · 25/06/2011 12:52

Hi all - oh noooo, overslept masively and have no jollity set up yet - thanks for putting kettle on , TIANC - oh wait - I see a set of jolly stalls and dancers in our garden & hear children playing , & terrible music - please see below.

Great to see you madmouse , & hope your sleep continues to be better than recently . You've done well to request that the problems at work be addressed more formally - must have taken a lot for you to say ask for that when you've had such a hard few months . Sorry I had no advice for your thread in Chat , but strongly agreed with the poster/ s who said the manager has been transferring her stress onto you & it's emphticaally not you who's "failing".

Please come and join our long weekend garden party - I wonder what what type of stall / play area might mouseling be amused by . We ought to have a children's play area with organised games changing every half hour all weekend < off to find unlikely online compendium of tradditional games >

So sorry you're left with laptop problems shodatin , & thanks for your kind thanks but sorry we can't think what to suggest . I do think the changes to MN have caused difficulties & think posters on Site Stuff could suggest more specific ways to help . You sound very competent and I hope you're not having a tiring day catching up with the chores you've had piling up whilst trying to sort the problem.

Thank you & TIANC thought on workman /letting agent worry - this type of thing has happened before & both sets of people can be pretty abrupt & it's hard to know when you're being unintentionally obstructive or when they're hurrying you along to save time / costs etc .

That summary of wheelie options would be very good TIANC , with the bonus of helping those needing it to associate it with you & lovely thread people , instead of feeling a bit odd & lonely about it .

Very late to be suggesting this but I think we've had a small fete running at the bottom of the garden since 11 - lasting till at least 5 before our evening do - what do you think ? - tombola , big stall of baked goods , huge plant stall and some country dancing with belated maypole , morris dancers ,a Scottish troupe ...

Would like to suggest a band tent at far end of cybergarden with our choice of music .

I suggest a band doing songs like Ringo Starr's teenage song
Boys -
< off to check the rockabilly band booked for later has arrived >( small people & senior persons usually like 50s rock'n'roll too I think ?

What type of baand might snowmash like ? Maybe some folk rooted band like the mighty Pogues ? Or an innovartive community choir ?

( Can I sneak in a young local band , with silly dancers to make people laugh ) New Big Prinz - -
Sorry for world's longest post

cityhobgoblin · 25/06/2011 12:53

apologies for sp

New Big Prinz - sorry[blush}

madmouse · 25/06/2011 13:47

hmm what would mousling like?

food :)
company, wild physical games
traditional games can be tricky if you can't walk unaided and only use one hand

he loves exploring the garden though, with a particular love of bark chippings. Are there bark chippings?

OP posts:
cityhobgoblin · 25/06/2011 14:23

< pours iced BrewBrewBrewBrew after putting down 10 bags of bark chippings >

< goes through pictorial Children's Menu with mouseling at the food tent ( the largest one in the garden >

< To fill in couple of minute's wait for food ,takes him to meet lots of new friends and roll on the chippings and see whether he'd feel shy to have a try at skittles with a helping arm from Mum ...or he could organise a nature trail aroung the very lovely Church grounds , for them all to play > I've found this site for the old - fashioned games , must explore to see if there's something suitable www.mastersgames.com/cat/giant/cannonball-drop.htm not a very original one , sorry - would this be one be very awkward for mouseling - www.mastersgames.com/cat/outdoor/roll-a-ball.htm ( all games are hired & appear instantly on demand in our cybergarden )

< mouseling enjoys double portion >

cityhobgoblin · 25/06/2011 14:25

( sorry , forgot to explain our cybergarden borders a picturesque church , which is hosting its fete today , so extra games & grounds to eexplore for DC )

cityhobgoblin · 25/06/2011 14:54

< checks with madmouse to see if mouseling and friends can come to icecream stall to choose which flavour fancy syrup and topping to have - or should that wait till later ? > lots of dairy free , gluten free varieties , suitable for all

< grabs poor TIANC for a Scots reel as the bagpipes play >

hears young pixies giggling in band tent and sees butterpie backing out in horror

shodatin · 25/06/2011 15:22

Hello TIANC, lovely to hear from you, and would certainly be interested in wheelchair info - mine's difficult to use alone.
Have managed to fix laptop I think, which is wonderful, and should teach me to check dates then check that I've scrolled right to the bottom of the page...and then sent "sent". Sorry to go boring on about it, but it has taken hours (and still need to complete Chrome installation etc.)

cityhobgoblin · 25/06/2011 16:01

That's brilliant news , shodatin , most impressed . Hope you can have a good skype etc tomorrow now .

Would you be kind enough to help me remove the signs of a DIY stampede at the facepainting stall ?

< hands shodatin cottonwool balls , hypoallergenic makeup remover and several small children >

madmouse · 25/06/2011 16:26

city lol you are getting quite into the spirit of things aren't you Grin

ds likes cakes and jaffa cakes and squash

he can manage skittles in his walking frame

and says thank you for the fresh bark chippings

OP posts:
cityhobgoblin · 25/06/2011 17:40

Thank you so much madmouse & mouseling ! < paper plate of jaffa cakes and mouseling's favourite orange lemon & pineapple squash , if he can fit them in after his lunch >

Have mousling & his friends been to visit the foal in the field next to the churchyard ? The "wild" cats who live in the horses' feed barn like to sun themselves out there , too .

nice band for all ages to round off uour fete and perhaps help us start snowmash's evening party later ?

< still icing cake >
< saves small cakes for mouseling >

cityhobgoblin · 25/06/2011 17:41

PS have we all remembered to get our take- home tubs of candyfloss ?

ThisIsANiceCage · 25/06/2011 18:35

Oh no! Sat down to do the crossword and... slept right through!

But it looks like I've been dancing in my sleep! Hurray! I've always suspected it, you know - explains the mystery bruises and unaccountable tiredness. Grin

I shall wander the stalls as they pack up, and help de-paint some small children! And finish up any ice cream that just won't keep!

Did someone say candyfloss?

cityhobgoblin · 25/06/2011 20:41

Poor TIANC , there there < arnica for bruises > < energy boosting smoothie stirred into exotic flavoured melty icecream >

Now , do we want to start the evening party with this sort of ambience :- :>>http://www.backtoclassics.com/gallery/jansteen/gardenparty/

shodatin · 25/06/2011 20:50

What a wonderful garden party hob, absolutely marvellous, and I do wish I could have got here earlier - how do you know I can do face-painting? (St ill amazed that children like it so much) Really marvellous organisation too, and everything one could possibly want, including 50s rock - wonderful!
I've not yet had chance to check stuff on you-tube, but am very impressed to be part of the local church fete next door and I'm sure everyone would appreciate all the games and amusements we have, to say nothing of food available in our garden, and all the icecreams.
TIANC, it's funny to think you've been dancing in your sleep (I used to think I must have dozed off in a tumble-drier). Sorry it's taken such an age to post, laptop still not A1, but what a marvellous evening's been organised.

cityhobgoblin · 25/06/2011 21:48

Thank you for enjoying it shodatin , & I knew everyone was unlikely to see this afternoon's silliness, so hope to do more frolicking tomorrow - afternoon & evening , at least . < taking this very seriously >

Now , why didn't that link work - shall I try again ...:- This is maybe how our

party looks currently

the:>>http://www.backtoclassics.com/gallery/jansteen/gardenparty/

shortly to become this , I fear < picture that I can't link to atm as having browser trouble >

I've just seen a good choir in the music tent , and hope the baroque choir arrives soon for snowmash's ears - sorry if you prefer other types of choral music snowmash , am an ignoramus & like showy baroque stuff)

I remembered you said you used to do the facepainting , shodatin Grin and glad you like 50s rock'n'roll , big fave of mine

cityhobgoblin · 25/06/2011 21:52

Sorry , forgot to say sorry your laptop's still a bit groggy shodatin , & thank you and TIANC and madmouse & ds so much for making today such fun.

extra tubs of candyfloss all round - mouseling & friends helped stall holder pour in the syrup

The lanterns and fairy lights are looking very pretty , and the posh choir is here

ThisIsANiceCage · 25/06/2011 21:53

Oh that link is marvellous! Yes, just like that!

DP's wandering round the party too, and says I have some very high-class friends! Wink

ThisIsANiceCage · 25/06/2011 21:56

DP rather likes baroque too.

cityhobgoblin · 25/06/2011 21:58

ThisIsANiceCage · 25/06/2011 22:05

DP's dead impressed with your booking The Sixteen! Has quite a bit of their stuff (I didn't know Blush).

ThisIsANiceCage · 25/06/2011 22:06

We're now sitting here, blissed out, listening!
