Had a few wines last night plus a steak. But I just had half a jacket potato and salad with it. Then had 2 chocolates.🤦🏼‍♀️ Is anyone else feeling like the cold is making you want to eat more?
I’m not drinking today, about to go on a long doh walk and will do another kettlebell workout later now that my muscles have stopped aching from the last one. 😂 I will weigh again after a couple of normal weekdays.

I weighed this morning and am still bang on 9st 6. I have been at this weight, fluctuating up and down by 1lb, for almost 3 weeks now so feel like I’m due another drop soon. Having said that I am below my target weight now so don’t really need to lose anymore. But won’t be disappointed if I do.

I haven’t done OMAD for a few weeks so I’m considering doing a 24 hour fast after my evening meal tonight. That will mean not eating anything at work tomorrow though and I’ve never done that before. Will be embarrassing in my lessons after lunch if my tummy is rumbling! 🤭

Welcome @Slippersandrum! I don't calorie count in my eating window but try to not have a much as I usually would (I'm terrible for eating junk food!) and I'm trying to mainly have healthy foods. Good luck on your journey, I am finding fasting to be great as I still get to enjoy the things I like so it doesn't feel so tricky.

I had a 16.5 hour fast today, broke it with a homemade smoothie (banana, strawberries, grapes, blueberries, orange juice) and I've just had beans and toast for lunch and a biscuit. Aiming to go for a longish walk later today

Yes I find it fits in well, no need to cook different things etc. I have dinner with the family and then just don't eat the rest of the evening or have breakfast the next morning

SeekingTreasures · 13/01/2025 09:22

Hi there,
I'd like to join please. I'm doing 16/8 and largely going without breakfast. Then aiming to have a keto - low carb way of eating.
This morning I'm finding it difficult to not grab some cereal. I'm hungry and I'm grumpy.
I've come on here to motivate myself to keep drinking tea or water until lunchtime.
I'm falling behind on my work schedule because I'm finding it difficult to concentrate. The situation is really annoying me and I'm going round and round with it.
So, I'm going for another cuppa coffee. And then, I'm going to set myself 3 work goals.
All the best to everyone here. And, especially to anyone who's finding it hard, like me, today.

Ilikeyoursleeves · 13/01/2025 10:46

Welcome @SeekingTreasures! I'm with you on the being starving front this morning, I'm at work too and trying to hold out for another half hour which will take me to a 17 hour fast. I've just made myself a cup of tea too so will hope that distracts me til my late breakfast!

After my weight loss at the weekend I'm back up a 1lb for some weird reason?? I'm hoping it's just normal weight fluctuations though as I didn't go too overboard with junk at the weekend and still managed to fast each day.

lechatnoir · 13/01/2025 10:47

Morning,

@SeekingTreasures it does take a few days to get out of the breakfast habit so stick with it and keeping drinking lots. Can you nip out for some fresh air? I find that a good distraction and sometimes stick headphones in and make a few calls whilst walking.

@Slippersandrum no I don't calorie count but on fast days I do try and have a carb free lunch (usually salad, omelette or soup), minimise snacking & then evening meal is same as the family. I do find from a routine POV it easier to just keep up during the week and it means I can eat what I want and not put on weight then relax a bit at the weekend so enjoy a lazy breakfast, eat out etc.

Big Birthday weekend for me with ridiculous over-indulgence meals out, waaay too much alcohol & of course cake. I didn't even manage the planned fast Sunday as my kids made me breakfast in bed and I couldn't not eat it! I'm out again for lunch today so have managed to squeeze in a 15 hour fast then will be a full week of 16 : 8 to try & undo the damage done this weekend. I'm weighing in at 11.6 & want to be 10stone again - 6 lbs are from the past 3 weeks alone and then that final stubborn stone I gained this past year when I hit a peri slump - stopped fasting & exercise and now trying to get both back on track.

jumpintheline · 13/01/2025 10:49

Welcome new joiners!

I find you get more used to it the more you do it @SeekingTreasures . I also find I am sharper at work in the morning while fasting. It’s after lunch I feel sleepy and sluggish.

Have finally faced up to a weigh up and I’m up quite a bit. Not too much of a surprise as December I really did relax the whole month, not just Christmas. So I’m now 64.6kg 😩 my last weigh in back in November I was 60.7!!

I feel heavier so I do trust it, although there may be a little post period water retention. But I’ve definitely gained weight and it needs to go!

So I’m back onto stricter fasting and will be watching what I eat and drink.

jumpintheline · 13/01/2025 10:57

Looking at it I’ve gone from 9.5 stone to 10. So annoyed!! It’s so easy to gain isn’t it

greengreyblue · 13/01/2025 13:06

What a pain @jumpintheline !
19 hr fast today
lunch: a boiled egg, rocket salad with some crumbled feta, an apple and a small banana.
dinner: tbc

Thank you very much for your welcome and your wise words @Ilikeyoursleeves, @lechatnoir and @jumpintheline . It's lovely to be on the receiving end of that. Sometimes, when I've joined a mums net group, my posts have not been referred to or acknowledged and, after writing, I've still felt quite alone with my struggle and not found that feeling helpful. So, I just want to say that I've really appreciated your kind words. It's lovely to feel supported.

I get that it can take a few days to get out of the breakfast habit. Last week, when I started doing without breakfast, I was at work and today I'm working from home. It's not easy to just nip out for a bit of of fresh air but I get that I need to keep drinking lots. In fact, when I was at work last week, I physically felt a bit weird before such. But, this morning, I'd forgotten about that. I didn't feel weird physically. I felt more obsessed !

I hop you managed to navigate your morning @Ilikeyoursleeves and that you came safely out the other side ! I did in the end. But, it definitely wasn't easy. I did a repetitive task that didn't take up a lot of thinking and drank tea whilst doing it. It wasn't fantastic. But, it was better than going backwards.

Riding the wave ups and downs of this journey, I wish you a successful day today. 😊☕😊

If you nip the increase in the bud, I think that'll be great progress in itself. All the best with getting back on track.

greengreyblue · 13/01/2025 16:54

@SeekingTreasures You’ll find us a friendly bunch. Sometimes it’s quiet on here but someone usually pops on at some point.
Dinner being made is a beany stew with peppers and tomato and smoked paprika served with chicken sausages and optional garlic bread. I’m opting out of that as I’ve been picking since I got home. Glad the temperatures are on the way up . So fed up of the cold and car scraping!

Also @SeekingTreasures just wanted to say I am in my 50s and a lifelong breakfast eater! This has been such a revelation to me. I just don’t even think about it now. I have had breakfast 3 times since June- 2 of those were Christmas Day and Boxing Day . I have more time before work to get ready and I really enjoy my lunch now . You’ll get there. I find if I’m busy it’s easier. Plus hot drinks are your friend.

OP posts:
SeekingTreasures · 13/01/2025 17:34

Thanks so much for the benefit of your experience about breakfast @greengreyblue . I'm hoping that tomorrow will be easier. I'll get myself mentally and physically prepared with the hot drinks.
Wishing you a warm evening.

Ilikeyoursleeves · 13/01/2025 18:05

@SeekingTreasures aw glad you feel welcome here and hope you find it to be helpful and supportive! ☺️

So after being starving mid morning I ended up doing an 18.5 hour fast! Something came up at work so I was distracted and then the hunger pangs went away so I held on til lunchtime and managed it fine!

Lunch was oatcakes and hummus, grapes & strawberries and a low fat yoghurt.

Packet of crisps on drive home and a few chocs when home😳

Dinner was scotch broth soup and tomato pasta (and a few more Xmas chocs!). Fasting timer is now on!

jumpintheline · 13/01/2025 18:45

19 hour fast.

Had a small portion of wholemeal cheesy mushroom pasta for lunch. Which was my 2 year olds lunch and eating their food is my downfall so because I ate some of that, I didn’t then have my own lunch. It’s now one or the other!!

Grapes for a snack. The kids had Jaffa cakes after their dinner and I didn’t. It’s the first day I haven’t had chocolate in a while! 🥳

Bean, lentil chickpea chilli for dinner with half an avocado. Full disclosure - small glass of white wine! Kitchen closed at 1800.

May attempt OMAD tomorrow.

Ilikeyoursleeves · 13/01/2025 21:52

Evening fasters! Instead of eating the big bag of cheese balls left over from Xmas I am sitting with a raspberry and pomegranate herbal tea that was in a variety pack, it's actually really nice!

jumpintheline · 14/01/2025 07:42

63.5kg this morning - have lost 1 kilo overnight 🧐🧐

I did have such a bloated belly yesterday so there must have been some water retention going on.

SeekingTreasures · 14/01/2025 08:55

Morning All,

I do feel welcome here. Thanks for your kindness @Ilikeyoursleeves . Hope your evening fast went well and that you slept peacefully.

I've been looking forward to coming back on the thread this morning, to catch up on how you're all getting on and to feel connected to people on a similar journey to myself.

Congratulations @jumpintheline ! What a lovely discovery for you this morning ! It's funny about water retention isn't it. I don't really understand why we can sometimes hold onto water and then just release it, seemingly all at once. Someone once told me that it's a bit like reaching some sort of tipping point and then having a watershed. But, I don't know if that's actually true and if there's science behind it. What I do know is that it's nice to see the scales shift downwards ! 😀

And, in the meantime, here I am, topping up my inner tea levels. Following the advice on having lots of warm drinks for breakfast instead of sugary cereal. On my third cup right now.Treading in your footsteps @greengreyblue and @lechatnoir. I hope it'll get easier soon.

I'm still finding it hard to concentrate and even though I'm sitting right next to the heating, I'm cold. But, I'm really going to do my best to get into my work once I've finished my 3rd cuppa. I think I'm going to set myself some little goals to motivate myself. I'll try doing tasks for 15 minutes and then have a 5 minute break. I'll see if that makes a difference.

All the best to you all. Read you soon !

Ilikeyoursleeves · 14/01/2025 09:10

Morning folks! I resisted the urge to weigh in this morning, planning on doing it tomo as that will be two weeks since the New Year and will be interesting to see how much I've lost. I can def feel a difference clothes wise though which is great, I have a few things that have always been really tight and now they feel quite comfortable 🥳

I've had a cup of tea with a splash of milk and I'm now at work, aiming to see if I can get to 18 hours again but my stomach may not like that!

Well done on the kg loss @jumpintheline!

Welcome! This is a lovely supportive group.

Week off fasting for me due to period and listening to my body and hunger. Couple of pounds up but expected due to period so not getting too disheartened.

30,000 steps yesterday so feeling proud of myself for that!

lechatnoir · 14/01/2025 12:01

Morning all,

My day of clean whole foods didn't quite go to plan with chocolate & popcorn at the cinema 😆. I wasn't going to fast today but decided I needed it so 15 hours into the first of 3 days fasting 16:8. I'm hoping I can eek to 18:6 but will need to eat bit earlier tonight. Does anyone else struggle with a really late lunch if breaking a fast? I can do 18 hours no problem if it's 7pm - 1pm, but eat later and push my lunch back much past 1:30pm and I really struggle.
