That pie looks incredible OP

Sunshineandflipflops · 02/01/2022 10:59

@CrystalDeCanter I am a newbie to the 16:8 but from what I gather, you are only supposed to drink black coffee/tea/water in your fasting periods. I would find the mornings a lot easier if I could have a proper cup of tea but I quite like green tea with mint so have been having those instead.

Sunshineandflipflops · 02/01/2022 11:00

I wouldn’t have thought a coffee would completely sabotage any weight loss though? I don’t own any scales after a lifetime of bad relationships with them but I’ll know in myself when I start to feel better and my clothes (hopefully) get looser. It doesn’t always reflect how you’d like on the scales.

Thanks @sunshineandflipflops, I think I'll try and get through til midday and see if I can change my bad habits 😁

A link to helpful beginners’ guide, if you can get over the ridiculous reference to “people with ovaries” (women, in old money).

Hi all, I've been thinking about 16:8 recently (I generally did this without thinking when calorie counting before!) and I think I'm going to 'officially' do it.

I've gained 2st since the end of 2019 and I'm gutted about it. I've always been up and down with my weight, and managed to get down to 11st 2 in 2019, which is the lightest I've ever been as an adult. I've never been slim, even as a teenager, so that weight suits me just fine. I was a size 12 and looking back at photos, I didn't look 'fat.'

I'd love to get back down to around 11st 7 so have around 28lbs to lose. I'm going on holiday to Greece in May so if I could lose a good chunk before then I'd be happy! I also have a wardrobe full of lovely size 12 clothes which I'd like to fit in to again.

EmoIsntDead · 02/01/2022 20:01

I've been struggling with my weight since catching Covid 14 months ago. It was a very slow recovery and I still struggle with low energy and exercise. My weight has absolutely ballooned so I'm hoping 16:8 can get me back on track 🤞

Piglet89 · 02/01/2022 20:53

Hi all just checking in. Welcome @MustardLoseIt and @EmoIsntDead !

My husband, son and I went out this morning and went on the Emirates Air Line. Even with the distraction of some pretty amazing views of Canary Wharf, I was still ready to chew my arm off by the time we got back at 1130. When my son had a tantrum, I almost joined him!

My husband pronounced us both hangry, which is probably true! Just had a bit more of that pie of which I posted a pic upthread, which was as delicious as leftovers as it was first time round.

It’s 20:52, so kitchen no obviously shut but I am full from the pie and don’t want anything more in any event.

Hi please can I join?
I tried it before my wedding and lost half a stone but have put that back on now... Probably more too! Blush
I'm starting tomorrow, but gonna have to weight myself first! I'm guessing I'm now about 10 stone, but praying I'm still under, my target is 8 stone 12. We still have Christmas chocolates at home, and I find it hard to resist!

I am Going to try 16:8 again.
I have a stone to lose, which realistically means half a stone...

Last time I tried 16:8 I started on 14:10 and worked up to 16:8 and lots weight surprisingly easily... and then drank too much wine. Which leads to evening cheese and snacks.

Starting tomorrow. Using the Fastic app to track progress.

Current stats- 5 foot 6, 10.5 stone.

Wish me luck!

Auntycorruption · 02/01/2022 22:25

Can I join please?

69.5kg today. 60kg target.

I am going to go for a 12 - 8 eating window. I would actually prefer 11-7 but I've done that before and know I end up squeezing 3 meals into the window which kind of defeats the object I think! So 12-8 is firmly lunch & dinner territory.

Sunshineandflipflops · 03/01/2022 08:37

@Auntycorruption I am doing 10-6 window as I know I won’t be snake to sustain not eating until 12 as I start work so early. It means I have a small breakfast, small lunch and normal dinner, rather than 2 big meals.
As all of this works on calories at the end of the day, I think it will still work.
I have to go with what’s sustainable for me.

Nousernameforme · 03/01/2022 09:12

Hi, jumping in here. I am going to do 11-7 while listening to hunger cues dry January and eating reasonably healthy. 1st day today and I'm bloody starving having an egg wrap at 11.

Sunshineandflipflops · 03/01/2022 09:19

@Nousernameforme I’m also doing dry Jan-I donut every year and last year actually managed 3 months in the end. It always helps me make healthier food choices and run more when I don’t drink.

EmoIsntDead · 03/01/2022 17:44

There are so many fasting apps availible (android) are any of them actually useful?

Piglet89 · 03/01/2022 18:55

@EmoIsntDead I don’t tend to use an app for it; just remember my fasting window and try to stick to it.

How about if you need to slightly alter your fasting window on the odd day? So have been doing 10-6, which mostly works for me but there is the odd day I have to eat my dinner a little later so can I do 10-6 most days and then 11-7 on the occasional day?

Vickster79 · 04/01/2022 09:13

Hi just wondering if there is any new threads with the Fast 800 keto diet? I started yesterday and I'd like to join a group to keep me sane Smile

Nousernameforme · 04/01/2022 11:43

I can't see why altering the window would hurt. How is everyone doing today? Second day here for me and I am appreciating my cup of tea. I found the fasting part easier when I realised that tomorrow I can eat whatever I wanted whilst listening to hunger cues obvs.

Sunshineandflipflops · 04/01/2022 12:09

Thanks @Nousernameforme. I am on day 4 today and doing ok. The food part I don't find too difficult but I do miss my cups of tea in the morning and evening. Cutting out that AND alcohol at the same time was a brave move I think but the fasting wouldn't allow for alcohol anyway (unless I wanted to start drinking before i finish work)!

I went for another run this morning and it didn't feel quite as hard as on monday so maybe I am getting used to running on empty!

twinkydink · 04/01/2022 15:42

Day 4 here too! Stil going OK, back on the school run so managed to do 13k steps so far plus a 40 min workout. I'm comfortable sticking within my calories and not finding Im having too many cravings. I'm still have a small pack of crisps each day which is definitely helping keeping the cravings at bay!

Good work on the run @Sunshineandflipflops

@Nousernameforme I don't drink tea but I love diet coke so that's helping me with the lower calories.

Just doing 4 days of tracking has made me realise how much I was eating without even thinking!

swampytiggaa · 04/01/2022 15:53

Hello! I’m doing 16:8 😊 tbh it’s often more.

My rules for myself are that I don’t eat before 12 or after 8pm. I generally start my fast after my evening meal so by 6ish.

I’ve done it before and it’s worked ended up stopping for various reasons but I’ve got the headspace to do it again now to lose my last stubborn half stone.

FolornLawn · 04/01/2022 20:00

Any tips for not eating like a maniac once the eating window is open? When I did 16:8 last time I ate really badly when I was allowed to eat.
