Thank you, LotsofTrees. I'm feeling great too and definitely slimmer.
That's a relief, no damage on the scales for you.
Social occasions are definitely a challenge for keeping to the plan.

vestastilly · 12/06/2021 09:24

Week one completed and my bmi has gone down 2 points which is amazing! I am choosing not to share the amount of weight in lbs as I know when you are dieting long term as I have done many times others first week losses can be very disheartening. Already I have more energy and am less tired. Instead of downing a takeaway and a bottle of Prosecco last night I spent some time listening to music and meditating which was wonderful. This morning I sat in front of my little tomato omelette and thought I am nit hungry but I will eat this to fuel my body. 27 years of dieting with slimming world and I have never felt the way I do today. I realise that this is the first week high but regardless of weight loss it is truly life changing.

Tinselandlights · 12/06/2021 09:48

That is absolutely amazing @vestastilly! Really inspirational that you've made that switch to fuelling rather than comforting.

I'm away with my parents and will probably take my foot off the gas a bit at some points.

Yesterday wasn't great as we were travelling but today I had a slice of brown sourdough (made by my DH!), marmite, live yoghurt and raspberries for breakfast. Lunch will be a Tupperware of humous and salad, and dinner my mum's chickpea curry. Mum gave me a pair of size 10 trousers and they fit! ❤️

@Tinselandlights that is fantastic and sounds like you have planned really well. We will be away at the end of July so I am already planning as I know that one small slip up will send me down the slope !

Balloondog · 12/06/2021 19:26

@Tinselandlights I'm seriously impressed by your will power and organisation. I'm away next weekend and already know I'm going to struggle in hotels with no cooking facilities. I'm afraid it's all going to go to pot as I'll have so little control.
In the meantime, I'm doing my best so I have a decent foundation at least. Today was goat cheese, pea, mint and asparagus frittata for lunch and the spicy bean chilli for supper. I wasn't expecting to like the chilli, it's not normally my cup of tea but I knew DH would like it, but it turned out amazingly and I'd make it again in a flash!

Size 10 trousers, way to go Tinselandlights!

That looks really tasty, Balloondog.

I made a veg and paneer curry last night, and had the remains tonight with a cod fillet in peri peri rub.

Well the no carb bbq did not go as planned but instead of thinking I’ve blown it , back on the plan today ,
From last sun to yesterday I had lost 4lb , so was pretty pleased with that .
Will re read the books and make some of the recipes this week , to keep me motivated

vestastilly · 13/06/2021 08:45

Blue berry pancakes from the red top recipe book were delicious this morning. A real Sunday morning treat - feeling stuffed now.
@MercedesBenz well done for getting back on plan today. Having just read the books and started the plan last week I can only imagine that the bbq must have been like a recovering addict walking in to a drug factory - so many temptations. Be proud of yourself xxx

IsFuzzyBeagMise · 13/06/2021 09:26

There are pancakes in the red book!! How did I miss that?! Grin

JaquelineBean · 13/06/2021 13:16

Urgh, i seem to have spent all morning cooking with not very satisfactory results:

Breakfast was smashed avo and poached egg on sourdough. The eggs weren’t fresh enough and went all stringy and overcooked, the avo was only partly ripe, my hot sauce came out in a splodge rather than a Cheffy drizzle. Toast was nice!

I was trialling a paneer salad for a friend who is writing a cookbook, and I hated the end result, with raw onion in a sort of curdled yoghurt sauce. And my fry pan was a mess. Plus my bag of spinach was full of slimy bits and I had to throw most out.

And I had no tomatoes ( what’s red and invisible)

Made flapjacks for dh which look a bit too squidgy, but they might firm up.

Did successfully use up some of that spinach in a batch of fritatta muffins for weekday lunches.

MercedesBenz · 13/06/2021 16:27

@JaquelineBean
It’s so disappointing isn’t it
I once made courgette fritters with feta , burnt on outside and wet and undercooked on the inside , and I was really looking forward to them
Still , fingers crossed for the flapjacks 😃

Tinselandlights · 13/06/2021 18:13

Thank you so much @Balloondog and @JaquelineBean!

I have been having a few extras while I'm away but apart from the jackfruit burger and chips and onion rings in the pub on Friday it is more a few extra nuts or a couple of crisps etc rather than the usual on holiday which for me would be ice cream, loads of chocolate and eating until uncomfortably full.

Movealongmovealong · 14/06/2021 06:36

So disappointed. I have followed the recipe book to the letter. Have been on the second week of the meal plan. First week I lost 6..75lbs. I have keto sticks and they have remained light-dark pink all week. I have drunk nothing but water. Yesterday we had a family bbq . I had 2 drumsticks and some salad. None of the puddings my mum and sisters bought.. none of the crisps/dips or other carb heavy treats. Not a single drop of booze ... and today I stood on the scales for my weekly weigh and I have lost NOTHING !! Not a pound. The scales stay at 201.25 EXACTLY the same as last week.
How can this be ? I am definitely in ketosis. I don't even need the sticks - the metallic taste in my mouth is also a give away. (Obsessed with teeth cleaning as ketosis can make breath smell) ..

I will NOT throw my toys out of the pram and give up. I will redouble my will power . But for me the logic isn't there. I need over 2000 calories a day to maintain my weight. I have had a calorie deficit of at least 1100 calories a day for 7 days .. and not lost a LB ! Any ideas what I can be doing wrong ?

LotsOfTrees · 14/06/2021 07:00

I’m sorry @Movealongmovealong, that does sound frustrating and disappointing. Not sure what to advise but some of the usual questions - are you counting everything you eat and drink? Perhaps wait and see what the next few days bring?

LotsOfTrees · 14/06/2021 07:04

Monday is my weigh in day and I have lost 3.5lbs this week. My total loss over 9 weeks is now 36.5lbs taking me from a BMI of 34.2 to 28.6. I can definitely see and feel a difference. On to week 10!

Movealongmovealong · 14/06/2021 07:13

Did you ever have a static or disappointing week lotsoftrees ? . I keep a food diary. I write every little thing down. In fact a bit obsessive with the weighing of ingredients.. I am now looking at my medication. I have an under active thyroid but take thyroxine. I also take amitriptyline for insomnia, so need to look at that... but still doesn't explain why week 1 was nearly 7lb and week to not an ounce.

IsFuzzyBeagMise · 14/06/2021 07:36

I don't count calories or weigh my food. I'm stalled too at the moment after a big drop during week one. I'm still going though...I hope you're doing okay Movealongmovealong. It's worth giving it more time, in my opinion.

LotsOfTrees · 14/06/2021 08:34

I have had some slower weeks @Movealongmovealong. Worth waiting a week would be my advice - oh and also to take measurements as that could provide encouragement. Even outside of the losses, my eating is healthier now than it has been and that’s got to be a big positive - and I feel I can sustain this general way of eating longer term.

Movealongmovealong · 14/06/2021 09:01

Yes for sure. I will stick with it . If nothing else I don't find it difficult - and am healthier for eating more veg and cutting out alcohol , so if nothing else those are positives to keep me going.
I am a very logical /evidence based person and am frustrated when things don't happen as they should when looking at it scientifically. If I had a 7000 cal deficit last week and not lost anything , I need to find an answer. .. just for my own sanity ..

Tinselandlights · 14/06/2021 09:46

@Movealongmovealong it is definitely disappointing to have a maintain on the scale, particularly after a good first week.

But to do this long term you have to develop a long-range view and look at the total weight lost. Losing weight isn't a linear process and it isn't cause for despair if you have a week with no loss - the Fast800 classes a maintain as anything more than three weeks with no loss. You've done a fantastic job with your weight loss so far and the results will show. Take your measurements too which may further encourage you. Some weeks bolster the loss of others.

For me, the weeks where there hasn't been a loss has been because of:
Hormones (particularly around period)
Exercise recovery
Not enough water
Constipation

Could any of those be the root for you this week?

DaisyWaldron · 14/06/2021 11:43

I've got a couple of very busy weeks coming up at work. Do any of you have any good freezable batch cooking recipes/ideas to get me through the too tired to cook evenings? I've already got chilli and Bolognese sauce in the freezer, but I would quite like something else, too.

vestastilly · 14/06/2021 19:16

@DaisyWaldron I have found the vegannrogan Josh in the main book is freezable and delicious. Another super quick and delicious tea is toasted rye topped with buttered spinach and 2 eggs is filling and yummy. Could you also do a veg stir fry with prawns - super quick and tasty.

Tinselandlights · 14/06/2021 20:22

@DaisyWaldron I make the bacon and egg muffins, they are really easy and keep well. I think they are in the red book. The same too with smoked salmon and chive omelette.

The dhal cooks ahead well.

The chocolate granola is my favourite at the moment, too!

Dinner wise, the chicken satay skewers are lovely and would be really easy to make ahead.

OP posts:
MaudesMum · 14/06/2021 20:27

@DaisyWaldron I was also going to say the dahl, but I've also done the chorizo and aubergine stew - not sure what book that's in - but it also freezes well. Just add a pile of veg!

ToffeeNotCoffee · 14/06/2021 21:46

Day one of Fast800 for me.

Sort of went ok. I clocked up 922 calories. I knew it would take me a couple of days to, 'get in the groove.'

Good luck everyone, everywhere.
