Lovely to hear some progress! Definitely need inspiration. Had an awful day yesterday - on top of the headaches & Keto flu I was passed over for a career changing opportunity. It literally could have changed my life and I'm just devasted (I had been told I was on the short list). I honestly picked the worst week to give up drinking & cut out rubbish.

PhoenixMama · 11/05/2022 12:26

Sorry - sent too soon! Anyway down 1.2lbs today so the scale is moving (slowly). I didn't crack and have sweets or cake yesterday (like I normally would) although I did buy myself this juice I like which is coconut water & pineapple juice and is like 20cals a large glass. Tastes a bit like pina colada (minus the run!)

MistySkiesAreGone · 11/05/2022 20:55

Yes absolutely starving post period. Actually feel quite depressed. However I had a late night out last night.

Just about to total my calories and see what I can stretch to today. I wouldn't be so strict but for the upcoming holiday and my being stubborn. It's like someone has given me the opportunity to reach my goal weight, when all else has been failing (as I lose interest and focus when it is such slow progress on top of a stressful job, but this is something where I can see a difference every few days which I need). And I want to take that opportunity and use it. Then I tick being overweight / yo yo'ing off my list of life problems.

After my night out I was starving and I managed to buy a packet of almonds and ate 8 of them on the train home. Absolute gold star for me.

Sorry to hear about the role, that must feel awful now. Do some nice things for yourself. Well done for your Fast 800 progress.

...back to feeling hungry and what can I snack on!

MistySkiesAreGone · 12/05/2022 07:03

820 cals yesterday. I'm seeing loss again, woop. 10 st 8lbs today.

SW on Fast 800 11 st 3.8 (23 April)
CW 10 st 8 (9 May)
Loss so far 9.8lbs on F800 (and total loss since starting dieting in Feb 21lbs)
Days on F800 19 days
TW 9.10

PhoenixMama · 12/05/2022 18:02

@MistySkiesAreGone Well done on your almond success!

I'm now down 3lbs (total) which is better but def not the 7lbs I lost first time round lol)

Been starving today, I ran this morning - maybe about 4km, and I had to go into London for meetings so lots of running around (although app says I haven't hit 10k steps yet which is weird!)

Making the Cauliflower Cheese from the BSD book today (firm family favourite!) and going to try not to work too late tonight (I keep going back to my desk after dinner!)

Colette · 12/05/2022 18:13

Hi can I ask for some advice please ?I’ve had a few attempts at 5:2
Ive found it really difficult and given up as I could manage being hungry but my stomach is really acidic so I’ve caved in , milk on its own didn’t work . Anyone else had this ?
very inspiring posts btw

MistySkiesAreGone · 12/05/2022 20:11

Well done @PhoenixMama. That dish sounds amazing!

I had a bunless venison burger and about 35g of rice. Dinner will be some sort of salad.

Cozytoesandtoast00 · 13/05/2022 06:21

phoenix mama well done on your run!
I'm so envious of people that can continue running with calories this low. I can only manage daily fast walks (about 45 mins)
Will continue with my running when the weight is off. I want to start weight training too.
I'm down to 11:3.5 now from 12.3 from when I started this wow (one month) So I've lost nearly a stone.
I was 12:10 in January ( started SW) so have lost a lot.
I'm hungry today which isn't normal for me My husband made dinner yesterday which was too small!
Trying to decide whether to have a takeaway curry on Saturday. Feel like I need a bit of a treat!

PhoenixMama · 13/05/2022 08:54

@Cozytoesandtoast00 I can only run if I slightly up my calories, yesterday I didn't need to up them that much as it was a small run but on days where I run more than 5km I definitely need at least 200 cals more. I generally just add a Grenade protein bar so I don't need to think about how I add it.

Well done on the losses I'm really hoping for a stone in a month.

Up 0.4 today but that's probably water weight - really hoping for 1 more lb before the week is out but weekends are ALWAYS the hardest and I'll be eating out on Saturday AND Sunday so will have to be careful. I hate it when the weekend ruins all my progress from the week at the beginning!

MistySkiesAreGone · 13/05/2022 08:56

Well done @cosytoes! Stock up on some fats to help the hunger today! Could you do a fakeaway? Or have cauliflower rice?

I read on the Fast 800 Facebook group that having fruit before running is the best option as the body makes it available to burn and it burns fast, and taking some boiled sweets. I couldn't do it!

No loss today but only hit 750 calories yesterday. Going to buy some chia seeds as they are high fibre apparently.

@colette Were you eating enough vegetables? How about plain natural yoghurt with the good bacteria? I have this every day, not sure if that makes a difference. I have almond milk as it digests better with me.

MistySkiesAreGone · 13/05/2022 09:07

Breakfast was half an apple, yoghurt and pomegranate seeds, not counted that up yet.

Today is going to be a large feta salad, with some homemade slaw, and then I think I will have the venison burger again with a huge side of green beans and vegetables.

Cozytoesandtoast00 · 13/05/2022 15:09

I agree Phoenixmama I'm trying not to let the way I'm eating change my life too much but the weekends are so hard!
Thank you Mistyskies Cauliflower rice is a good shout and really nice if you let it crisp up!
I wish you all good luck this weekend.

Colette · 13/05/2022 17:02

@MistySkiesAreGone thanks for the tips , possibly I’m not eating enough vegetables, It seems worse in the morning so it makes it hard to go longer then

MistySkiesAreGone · 14/05/2022 08:25

10st 7.4 today. Filled up on a tonne of veggies. Slept great. Feeling good.

SW on Fast 800 11 st 3.8 (23 April)
CW 10 st 7.4 (9 May)
Loss so far 10.4lbs on F800 (and total loss since starting dieting in Feb 21.6lbs)
Days on F800 21 days
TW 9.10

PhoenixMama · 14/05/2022 09:27

Oh gang I messed up yesterday & I'm scared to step on the scale this morning.

I am such an emotional eater & I had a really hard therapy session yesterday & totally ended up eating loads of sweets. And then had my first ice cream van ice cream of the season (trying to show dd that we can have years when we eat healthy 🙄)

I literally feel down a sugar hole. Rest of the day was pretty low cal so it's probably not what I would have eaten before but still really gutted & afraid that I've messed up & ruined my progress. 🤦🏼‍♀️

Cozytoesandtoast00 · 14/05/2022 20:18

Phoenixmama try not to worry.
I've had a few of these days and the most important thing is to get back on it the next day. I've managed to lose a stone in a month doing this.

MistySkiesAreGone · 15/05/2022 00:08

We all have those days. I had two quite early on where I got through about 3000 calories a day. Then did a mental reboot and carried on.

MistySkiesAreGone · 15/05/2022 07:25

10 st 6.8 today. Not sure what I am doing but it is working.

I think what is different is
-switched from porride to half an apple, full fat yoghurt and nuts for breakfast. Bit of a game changer as have had porridge for about 15 years!

  • most of my carbs are coming from veggies
  • not going under 800 cals, if I go under once make sure I hit it the next day

SW on Fast 800 11 st 3.8 (23 April)
CW 10 st 6.8 (9 May)
Loss so far 11.2lbs on F800 (and total loss since starting dieting in Feb 22.12lbs)
Days on F800 22 days
TW 9.10

MistySkiesAreGone · 15/05/2022 07:29

I think I lose better in the first half of my monthly cycle.

Cozytoesandtoast00 · 15/05/2022 14:39

That's brilliant! Porridge is very carby so maybe that's why. Great progress.
I put on a 1lb over the weekend but I'm happy with that as I had an event with Pimms!
I've decided to go with weekly weigh ins now as I get too pre-occupied with the daily changes.
Breakfast: nothing, Lunch, tuna, sour cream, roasted veg and saurkraut. Snack Parma ham.
Dinner is gammon and veg.

Cozytoesandtoast00 · 15/05/2022 19:03

Ok. I'm having a hard evening.
Not sure if it was the pimms from yesterday but it's taking all of my willpower not to dive into chocolate.
I'm not, which is great. But feeling pretty low in mood.
Bath and early night for me.

MistySkiesAreGone · 16/05/2022 10:30

I have days like that, hope you feel better when its a new day.

Today- porridge breakfast
Think I will go salmon salads for lunch
Dinner - I fancy some mackaral and lentils and veg. It will be an early dinner.

10st 6.2 this AM.

xraydelta · 16/05/2022 12:28

Hi again!

Sorry I disappeared. I completely fell off the wagon and have put SIX POUNDS back on 🙈🙈🙈🙈🙈

I am so cross with myself.

The problem I found, and I don't know if this resonates with anyone else, is that this time around doing Fast 800, I have found it much slower and much, much more boring. The food this time has been uninspiring to me, and then the lack of progress has been dispiriting. And both things led to me completely going off plan for the last couple of weeks.

I am not sure what the answer is 😔🤷🏻‍♀️. But I am back on today and drinking a cup of boulion at work feeling depressed. I pulled some lovely looking salmon out the freezer for later. But that and no potatoes and no wine is a rather sad prospect really 😔

LosingAtHumanBopIt · 16/05/2022 14:49

Just finished my first week and lost 6lb.

I did it a couple years ago but then got pregnant which totally ruined any weight loss goals😂. So here I am back at square one and a stone heavier than then.

Nervous of the second week, obviously the loss slows and I get disillusioned. Hopefully more determined this time though 💪

MistySkiesAreGone · 16/05/2022 17:40

@xraydelta can you build it up slowly? Kind of stealth diet so the brain doesn't notice. Maybe less potato and a small amount of wine.

The only way I could start my diet was by making the first easy change and doing that for two weeks. In my head I always think the first two weeks of dieting don't equal any loss, as you are clearing out the last big meals you ate. In reality they do equal a loss, but I simply have to set the goal really low to start, so that I win anyway. Then the momentum builds.

I once tried cold turkey i.e. giving up chocolate and caffeine together and I nearly died so hence why I take a gentler approach!
