@xraydelta so envious of you going to HP world. My eldest turned 11 over lockdown which foiled my plans of a Hogwarts letter etc.. but would love to go with kids soon. Nice to think of the world opening up a bit. I have decreed that it is too sunny for stew tonight so instead we have roast chicken and salads. Before the Big Freeze returns tomorrow and weather reverts to grotty.
I am in awe of your 48 hour fasting, I hope that it pays dividends.

Chunkymonkey123 · 29/03/2022 18:48

That’s exciting @xraydelta, I’ve not been to HP in years, I can’t wait until my boys start reading the books.
Cold today! I made lamb meatballs with roasted veg for dinner. Slightly over today at 950. I weighed yesterday and I lost 5 pounds in my first week which is great. I’m really aware that I’ve got a two weeks worth of trips starting this Saturday which I’m concerned about, don’t want to undo all my progress.

MayaWasSackedForGCBeliefs · 29/03/2022 22:17
@MayaWasSackedForGCBeliefs (I like your username), I love the idea of losing hunger. I remember last time I was at that point and it just made it so much easier. Not so true here yet but I had a long walk yesterday and realised I had missed lunch and it wasn’t a big deal which is nice. About to get up and weigh myself. Hoping for a loss- also generous of arse atm and bored of it.
Don't want to freak you out but I had a "hungry day" today 😁. I think it was because I didn't have enough protein- protein is the key. Along with drinking plenty of water or in my case herbal teas.

I do my weekly weigh on Mondays - 7.2 kilos in 4 weeks. 6cm off my waist.

KOKO!

MayaWasSackedForGCBeliefs · 29/03/2022 22:24
@MayaWasSackedForGCBeliefs that’s good about the hunger. I’m day 5 and I’m starving!! My stomach was so loud today. I’ve also eaten 1000 cals which is disappointing but I had a busy day at work so needed breakfast.
I did the cheats sausage casserole tonight from the 800 cookbook, it was lovely!
Thank you!

How's the hunger levels now?

It might help to accept hunger - it's not something we are usually used to. I've been an over eater most of my life. Usually im never hungry. We think of it as negative- for good reason survival wise. But we are surrounded by food. We are not starving or in danger of going without. I reassure myself there is plenty of food & no need to panic & just accept the feeling, rather than see it as a cue to eat toast & butter & cheese etc. It's been really useful.

This probably wouldn't work for everyone but I have plenty of fat to burn for fuel & it's effective for me.

xraydelta · 30/03/2022 06:29

Unfortunately my little bit of ice cream escalated when the lovely looking pub I had carefully chosen that evening (and pre analysed the menu for online) failed utterly in its low carb offering and so I ended up eating sour dough bread... And half a packet of galaxy minstrels 🙈 Still, I resisted the alcohol which was good. Frankly that was a magical miracle.

But HP was wonderful. It had changed since we last had visited a few years ago and it was even better. My teens adored it.

I've not added exercise into this way of life yet. All I've done is walk more every day. I want to do a class but there is so very little in my rural area 😔 And what little there is mostly isn't at all doable in timings.

I have found one class on a Sunday morning, but it's a super high intensity one and might kill me 😆 But I am going to investigate that gym between now and then.

I wish I'd paid for the 12 week Fast 800 online now, but I didn't as I'd done it before and didn't feel I needed it as I have the book and the recipe book, plus there's so many recipes online for free. But the exercise part would have been helpful I feel.

ChillinwiththeVillains · 30/03/2022 07:20

Honestly @xraydeltaI would take the no alcohol win and feel proud. Shows that you are really focused. It’s not fair when restaurants let you down. We have quite a social Easter planned and I am already trying to work out how to channel a skinny person who only really enjoys steamed fish and vegetables. I mean, I do like meals like that but also roast and sticky toffee pudding. But I am determined. Although also legit grumpy as I am due on and am bloated and annoyed and scales not shifting.
But back to gym next week and I am quite excited. Also quite scared and think it will be quite a lot of work to regain fitness feom what I have seen of other covid returnees. Hopefully it means more of The Burn and torching all those fat reserves.

xraydelta · 30/03/2022 16:48

@MayaWasSackedForGCBeliefs that's exactly how I tell myself to feel (or not feel) when I do feel hungry. It's a false feeling almost.

After having carbs the other day, I did feel hungry. But i stuck to just protein, and it's passed.

I am also feeling bloated and frustrated at stuck scales though 😔

I shall fast and then I need your lamb meatballs @Chunkymonkey123 You've had a fabulous first week 🙌🏻

Chunkymonkey123 · 30/03/2022 21:13

912 cals today. I’m feeling cold and tired a lot, I don’t know if that’s the diet or something else. Leftover meatballs for lunch and mushroom omelette for dinner.

@MayaWasSackedForGCBeliefs that’s a great loss, you must be able to feel that! Well done!

I’d say the hunger is the same but I just ignore it a lot of the time now. Going meal by meal trying not to ruin it! 2 more days on the diet and then I’m on a city break for 4 days, I’m going to try and stick to low carbs but there will be wine!

@xraydelta sorry if I’ve missed it but how long have you been doing this diet for now? I think the weight loss always slows down. When I got to my lowest before my wedding it took me 3 months of properly dieting to lose 5 pounds.

ChillinwiththeVillains · 31/03/2022 16:59

Cold tired and grumpy (autocorrect went for dumpy which is also accurate) here but the sun is finally shining and I am skipping supper (after eating two medjool dates mid afternoon). My vegetable soup wouldn’t defrost for lunch between meetings so I just had egg and a yogurt. Which wasn’t ideal. But I am really impressed that I am still writing everything down and being aware of what I eat. So taking it all as a win.
@xraydelta I hope that the scales are kind
@Chunkymonkey123 trips will be fab and probably help to motivate you more if you are anything like me. I’ve been so bored locked away
@MayaWasSackedForGCBeliefs I forgot to say how inspiring your weight loss is. Renewed vigour inspired by you.

LotsOfTrees · 01/04/2022 09:15

I am back after many months off and a fair amount gained back Hmm I started earlier this week and have had a background headache yesterday/today but feels good to get going again.

xraydelta · 01/04/2022 09:46

Sorry @Chunkymonkey123 I typed a reply the other evening and then managed to somehow not send it 🙄

This time around, I've been on Fast 800 for three, three and a half weeks. I lost a lot on it though back in early 2020 before lockdown kicked in. Then, I had a massive weight loss in the first few weeks. It's been nothing like that this time and every single lb lost has been hard fought for 😆 It's too soon for a plateau... it is just tougher this time.

Never again though. I will never get to that size and weight again. I will be using this as a way of life from now on.

It's been a rubbish few days. I have a terrible cold (not covid, I keep checking!), and it's the wrong time of the month. I just feel pants today. But I will crack on, have a dog walk in the sunshine in a bit and make some nice dinner later on.

ChillinwiththeVillains · 01/04/2022 10:17

Yes, @xraydelta I am definitely with you on the hard fight side of it. I’ve actually cracked and bought a whey protein powder to make shakes today. The Fast800 one is too vile to drink. Sainsburys have also brought me ALOT of vegetables so I can just have something green alongside every meal.
Welcome back @LotsOfTrees I hope you enjoy being back on it. I do feel positive about the plan even if nothing much is happening. Hopefully nice long sunny dog walk at lunchtime with DH and DDog will help to shift mood and fat!

xraydelta · 01/04/2022 16:20

I threw away the 800 shake powder 🙈

And yes, welcome back @LotsOfTrees 🎉
Lockdown(s) has not been kind to so many of us.

I hope the headache goes really quickly and you start on the amazing bit 🙌🏻

LotsOfTrees · 01/04/2022 23:23

Thank you for the warm welcome! I’ve drunk a lot more water today and the headache has gone now. Not sure if it was time or the water that helped - or a lie in this morning. Probably all three.
I had dinner with friends tonight and managed to stick to plan so that’s a big win for me because I’d normally find that super tough.

Sorry things are more difficult this time @xraydelta and hope you see a drop on the scales soon.

fasttime · 03/04/2022 13:59

Please can I join you all. I did the bsd a few years ago and lost 4 stone fairly easily. I then got pregnant. My little one is nearly 2 and I have just seen a photo of me in the background of another shot. I seriously didn't recognise the fat lady in the photo. Totally horrified when I realised it was me as I just hadn't realised I had got so big.

I can't bring myself to weigh myself but I must be over 16 stone.

xraydelta · 03/04/2022 20:41

Hello @fasttime 👋🏻

I know the feeling with seeing a photo of yourself 🙈

Have you started or are you starting this week?

EverydayImPuzzling · 04/04/2022 09:13

Hello everyone, might I join you? I read The Blood Sugar Diet book yesterday and am starting today. I don’t have diabetes but really need to lose some weight, about 3 stone at least. I’ve been trying slow and steady for years but my sugar addiction keeps putting me back to square one!

Hoping to pick up some tips and solidarity from you all if I may Smile

ChillinwiththeVillains · 04/04/2022 09:35

Welcome @fasttime and @EverydayImPuzzling. I have been doing this for three weeks now. First week was great (2kg down) and then I think I confused my body by snacking on fruit. Snacking bad and fruit sugar bad so restarting with renewed determination. I have been off the gym with Covid but made it back!! I am still having to watch how exhausted I get but I talked to the instructor and she said lower oxygen will do that. So I am being patient with myself whilst still wishing the weight would fall off. Anyway, it has worked before and I know it works if I do what it says and don’t try to freestyle. As that is what got me into this oversized situation in the first place.
My inspiration is a friend who was diagnosed diabetic. I told her about my previous success with BSD and she went for it and lost 3 stone and no longer has type 2 and looks even younger and better than she did when I first met her years ago. So I am channeling her determination (she ate blueberries instead of her own birthday cake!).

EverydayImPuzzling · 04/04/2022 12:34

Thanks @ChillinwiththeVillains and well done on your loss. You have great motivation there too!

My motivation is that I am in my early thirties and think if I don’t do something about my weight now then it’s only going to get harder. Plus I have a young daughter and want to be healthy for her.

Today I fasted until 11:30am then I had a pea and spinach omelette for 210 calories. I’m drinking iced sparkling water with lemon - two pints down so far today. Makes a big change to my usual breakfast of cookies and Diet Coke Blush

ChillinwiththeVillains · 04/04/2022 13:12

@EverydayImPuzzling you sound like you are super motivated and on it. Pea and spinach omelette sounds really good. I am cutting corners a bit today as I am busy and made my lunch a whey protein drink plus some courgetti for the green fibre. Works out as 225kcal. Breakfast was 200 (2 eggs and some steamed spring greens). I keep doubling or trembling the amount of green vegetables I make for our supper so that I have lots in the fridge ready to eat.
Tonight will likely be ginger and spring onion lamb stir fry. Kids and husband will have larger portions and with rice. Dog will look wistful (we ran out of her usual raw food so she is on nasty packaged food until delivery on Wednesday).
I am going to start writing out all my meals in MFP for the day in advance as I have found this is really useful previously. When I know that I have worked out a prefect day and if I stick to it I’ll be really happy, then that helps with my motivation. I hope that your day carries on going well and that you are near a loo (2 pints already?!).

Helpmplease · 04/04/2022 13:59

Hi can I join too please. I started today, never done it before. I'm a sugar addict and binge eater, also pre diabetic, not surprisingly!

EverydayImPuzzling · 04/04/2022 16:25

Welcome @Helpmplease I’ve just started today too. How are you getting on?

Your dinner sounds lovely @ChillinwiththeVillains I’m not 100% sure what I’m having yet as online shop is being delivered shortly so will see what needs eating first. Likely to be fish or chicken.

Today is going well I think. I’ve had waves of hunger but it’s not lasted long. Have a slight headache which has eased with paracetamol. Been drinking plenty of water.

Feeling remarkably in control - long may it last!

Helpmplease · 04/04/2022 17:39

Gone well but I'm hungry! Just finishing off tea.
Had the keto pancakes for breakfast and then the asparagus wrapped in ham and cheese for lunch with loads of spinach.
Got cod with red pepper sauce and olive for tea. All so delicious but need to adjust to the small portions!

Fjea · 04/04/2022 18:00

Hello, I started yesterday. Chose exactly the wrong moment, a hectic day today with 3 extra children in the house, and we go on holiday to visit family on Saturday, not sure how to handle that. Slept really badly last night, could be a premenstrual thing but also generally felt uncomfortable, sort of like hunger, but not exactly.

ChillinwiththeVillains · 04/04/2022 19:18

@Fjea, I find I sleep better than normal once I adjust. Figure body less occupied digesting so can get on with resting? @Helpmplease- yes! The small portions are a shock! And l, like you, I bulk out with vegetables but somehow it still feels like not much. I figure it will be worth it though.
