Speedy name change from ARG just after I posted as thought I wouldn’t want to be sharing stats if identifiable.
Menu wise: I have made a massive vat of green veg soup with stock and a little crème fraîche (maybe 100g across 8 servings). So that plus boiled egg for breakfast. Lunch is baked celeriac plus chicken. Supper little of the family lamb stuffy. Week is pretty much variations on a theme. Also some oxtail I stewed in beef stock with lots of onions . I did buy the FAST800 shakes but they are quite disgusting so think they will be a last resort.
I do have cauliflower rice and ALOT of kale and spring greens in fridge in case of need. And I am off the drink too. Figure alcohol is only going to make willpower weaker and add calories too.
Sorry to hear about your long covid and, yes I think I will be taking it very easy. I find I have a few good days and then an exhausted can’t do anything kind of day. It’s very frustrating.
How is your week going?

ChillinwiththeVillains · 16/03/2022 10:49

I am pleased as I am already down 1kg after two days which is a good motivation booster. Cannot believe quite how out of hand I have let my weight become.

xraydelta · 16/03/2022 15:28

@ChillinwiththeVillains that's an amazing weight loss already! Well done 🙌🏻

I also struggle with the shakes, but I've found that having them wizzed up in a blender with almond milk and ice cubes helps a bit! I haven't had one yet this time around but I probably will next week as I have some vanilla left.

I am mostly cooking just for me which is a pain. I don't want to waste food but it's hard just doing one portion and I don't fancy eating the same thing again the following day.

But onwards!

ChillinwiththeVillains · 16/03/2022 15:44

Oh that’s an idea with the shakes. I bought vanilla and was wondering about whizzing up with chilled coffee and almond milk. Anything to mask the stevia flavour!
Can you freeze your meals? So e.g. batch cook 4 or 6 portions but rotate which you pull from the freezer? I am trying to have the same protein and veg as the rest of the family and just give myself a smaller portion and no carbs. But I think it will tip us all towards healthier eating I hope as I am really trying not to let junk into the house now.

ChillinwiththeVillains · 16/03/2022 15:45

Although if you also have caring commitments then there isn’t much time left for you at all I imagine.

xraydelta · 17/03/2022 13:14

@ChillinwiththeVillains your set up is ideal. I just need more family members at home (without specific Long Covid taste and texture issues!) so I can do the same and cook family meals but then add carbs for them.

I also need to empty the freezer a bit so I can pop extra portions in there.

I am wavering whether to go for a One Meal A Day today or completely fast until tomorrow, just to kick start things a bit.

So far, I have just had a cup of bouillon for lunch which MM counts as complete fasting. I think it's about 5 calories or something.

If I'm not ridiculously hungry later, I'll skip dinner and do an extended fast.

My steps are low as it rained yesterday and I'm on my bum at work today...

How's your exercise going?

xraydelta · 17/03/2022 13:58

@EverybodysALebowski
@WhatWillSantaBring
@Needaholidayplease

Are you about still?

If so, how's it going?

ChillinwiththeVillains · 17/03/2022 13:59

Wow! Extended fast is tough but good for a reset. I didn’t realise that Long Covid could affect texture perception too. That does make planning healthy eating more of a mental challenge. And if your brain is as foggy as mine that’s not what you need!
I am hoping to manage a stroll later and have had some garden pottering but everything leaves me breathless which is very annoying.
I have booked two walks for next three days - I find I can do 4-6km every other day but not every day or I am back in bed whixh is annoying. Very weird after being such an active person. I am trying to enjoy yoga and stretching on YouTube as a first step.
No weight change today but I am enjoying feeling like I have taken positive steps to sort myself out.
I hope that you are having a good day.

Needaholidayplease · 17/03/2022 14:10

Still going! On maybe day 9 I think. Struggling a bit but want to lose a stone!

ChillinwiththeVillains · 17/03/2022 14:47

Oh well done holiday , at day 9 you are nearly half way through (if you assume the 21 days to lose a stone is accurate, please let it be accurate). And hopefully you are over the carb hangover/fury?
I have 12kg (well 11kg now) to lose and am assuming this might take me two months. Which is dispiriting but will feel so brilliant to get back into my pre lockdown clothes. I feel like at the moment leisure wear is my default for all occasions. But I am hoping to have a rather more exciting summer than the past two.

JackieWeaversZoomAc · 17/03/2022 20:44

I'm in the middle of week 3 of the Very Fast 800. 800-900 Cals a day for 12 weeks.

I have lost 6 kilos so far and very pleased.

Diets where you have to follow their meal plan have never held much appeal. But this is really different- the food is quick easy & super tasty. So it's easy to stick to.

I was super hungry the first week but I've been fine ever since. I'm finding upping my water intake is crucial.

I've got 30+ to lose - just focusing on the first 12 weeks for now.

ChillinwiththeVillains · 18/03/2022 08:25

6 kilos in three weeks is brilliant Jackie. Day 4 and I am down 1.5kg total. I definitely felt hungry yesterday but am focusing on positive stories like yours and just keeping track of everything I am eating on MFP. I’m meeting a pal for coffee this morning and will try to ignore her coupling a hot chocolate and cake addiction with being 6ft and size 10. We all have our own roads and mine has a lot less cake in it in the future.

ChillinwiththeVillains · 18/03/2022 13:09

Resisted any food with my coffee and menu today is:
Runner beans, boursin and eggs for breakfast - I like savoury breakfast and am trying to keep lots of boiled eggs ready in the fridge so I can grab before I start looking around for other things to eat.
Cappuccino
Prawns and spring greens with garlic for lunch.
Kefir with linseeds, ginger, a couple of pecans and cacao nibs
Supper will be smoked salmon, seaweed and lettuce- rest of family having DIY sushi.
Works out at about 850kcal which I am happy enough with.
First weekend might prove more of a challenge!

ChillinwiththeVillains · 18/03/2022 14:17

I forgot that MFP will show nutrients: 56g protein , 42kg carbohydrates and 36g fat. I am pleased with that breakdown.

xraydelta · 18/03/2022 20:38

That sounds fab @Needaholidayplease
I am also 10 ish days in. I haven't lost nearly that though!

Brilliant @JackieWeaversZoomAc 🙌🏻

And I wish I was at your house @ChillinwiththeVillains Your menu sounds lovely.

I ended up water fasting yesterday and today until mid afternoon. I then had some home made soup and a handful of almonds. Then another handful.

My name is XrayDelta and I am addicted to almonds 🙈

I already have had to stop buying Cheshire cheese as I'll eat too much. After these almonds have gone, I can't replace them!

Tomorrow, I am making a Greek salad for lunch and then two boiled eggs with asparagus wrapped in Parma ham as dippers for supper.

Sunday is online delivery day and I have stuff coming to make the fish stew on the Fast 800 page. Plus they had fresh sardines so I'll have those on Monday I think. Cheesy meatballs for dinner on Tuesday. Salmon Wednesday. Then maybe I'll water fast again Thursday and Friday. Lunches can be salads/omelettes.

ChillinwiththeVillains · 19/03/2022 06:49

xraydelta I am a big nut fan: walnuts, pecans, almonds, pistachios, peanut butter… having to really watch what I grab.
I am down another .3kg this morning so total is 1.7kg down. I’m very happy with that in five days. I do feel very focused and on it. I’ve planned out today’s menu and have a delivery coming later but wish I had thought of your Parma ham and asparagus. I’ll definitely order both next time.

I have a nice walk planned this morning and then gardening if I still have energy. I hope that you have a good weekend.

ChillinwiththeVillains · 19/03/2022 14:47

Just found out my dad- 3” taller than me, weighs 1.5kg less than me. Tho’ I guess 6 days ago that would have been 3kg less. Not massively feel good moment but definitely clear that this is necessary.

ChillinwiththeVillains · 19/03/2022 21:02

Closed kitchen this evening at 65g protein, 39g carbs and 49kg fat. 872kcal and over 10,000 steps which is good by my current invalid standards. I made a chicken and a tofu curry for family supper and bulked tofu out with lots of frozen spinach. Lunch was salads and lamb meatballs.
I’ve made another vat of freezer veg soup so will have th hah tomorrow mid morning after dog walk and maybe beef rib and lots of veg for early supper. No roasties for me but this exercise has been quite instructive in realising just how much I eat because it is there. I definitely need to be more mindful. Especially to make sure that I continue to stay off alcohol even with nice roast.

Chunkymonkey123 · 20/03/2022 14:29

Hello all, I did fast 800 in summer 2020 to lose my lockdown weight and unfortunately I’m back up there again!! 🤦‍♀️
Starting tomorrow, I have planned out my week of eating. Going for eggs and salmon/bacon each brunch and then something from the fast 800 cookbook each night with added veg for me and carbs for the rest of the family. Got 10 pounds to lose to fit into my clothes properly, 14 to get to target.
Is the keto 800 cookbook worth getting? I do like the original one.

EverybodysALebowski · 20/03/2022 15:46

Hi @xraydelta thanks for the earburn. Have been meaning to get back here but have really had a dreadful two months at work. Have made some progress in undoing the effects of those two months, so am at least back where I was. (Which isn't much, but is better than having gained more I guess)

Hope everyone is doing well and making progress. Am not quite ready to dive in again yet, but hoping to after next week.

ChillinwiththeVillains · 20/03/2022 17:16

Hi @Chunkymonkey123 and @EverybodysALebowski nice to meet you. I am heaviest I have ever been without pregnancy to blame (75kg starting weight, down 1.5kg so far and I’ll keep at it until I am 63kg which suits my 170cm frame much better).
I have made more soup (one bag of frozen onion, two bags frozen veg mix, bag of frozen spinach sweated in butter and then blitzed with stock and little crème fraîche) so that should be my default breakfast with boiled eggs this week.
Also roasted a chicken and some celeriac so useful leftovers. Think I will do baked white fish in homemade tomato sauce with more of the frozen spinach as that is quite bulky for the calories. I have a bag of cauliflower rice making me feel guilty so may make egg fried rice tomorrow if I don’t have boiled ones. I made two really nice cakes whilst the oven was on with chicken and celeriac earlier and have boxed up to avoid temptation. I have found that Sainsburys sells montezumas’ 100% cacao chocolate so am allowing myself a square or so a day.
Beef ribs will now be later this week. I had a protein yogurt with some pecans for breakfast post dog walk, roast chicken, kale and celeriac for lunch and aiming for soup and eggs for supper. It is going to be quite repetitive for me I think but I am trying to be more focused o eating as fuel rather than as a hobby.

ChillinwiththeVillains · 21/03/2022 07:20

Down 2kg in my first week so I am happy. Ten more to go. Found that I was absent mindedly spooning peanut butter yesterday so have put it out of reach today.
Hope you are all had a good weekend- sunshine definitely makes the salad thing easier.

Chunkymonkey123 · 21/03/2022 18:29

840 calories and I’m done for the day. I did the chicken with lemon tonight but used skinless chicken thighs and they weren’t as nice as the first time I did them. Feeling hungry but going to have an early night.
Hope everyone else is doing well!

ChillinwiththeVillains · 21/03/2022 20:30

It’s a nice feeling knowing that you have had a good day and finished where you want to be. I had a brilliant pottering day- gardening, lunch with DH, coffee and walk with my friend, in-laws popped over whilst I was prepping supper and I offered them the two cakes that I had baked yesterday which felt nice and hospitable. I ended up at 1,000kcal, 90g protein but 70g carb so not great but fine. We’ve got this.

xraydelta · 21/03/2022 20:33

@EverybodysALebowski your health comes first, and if there are things you need to work through, no way of eating is going to make you feel good right now.

I hope you're okay. Or will be okay if it doesn't feel like that now x
