I've got lots to lose, I'm feeling lousy, so heavy, achy and sluggish and I can't bear to see myself in the mirror so I'm making a dramatic change. Losing a pound a week is not going to cut it.

I eat far too many carbs so I think this Mediterranean style of eating and the the drastic cut in calories will do me good. I've read the book, I've stocked up on the right foods and cleared out the crap. I haven't eaten yet but I'll have my first meal soon.

I know that it will be hard going at times but the promise of rapid weight loss is worth a bit of pain.

Wish me luck. I'll update on my progress as I go.

Have to share my lunch today - it's from Tesco, so delicious and satisfying. Whole tub is 220 cal and 2.4g net carb - yum!!

Sounds like everyone is doing brilliantly. I'm ticking along. I haven't weighed in since Monday but I will tomorrow.

I made the mistake of watching a Mary Berry programme yesterday, she was in Rome and it was all pasta and pizza. Ugh I miss carbs! No way will I be able to give them up forever and to be honest you shouldn't have to if calories and portion sizes are in check. I'm not giving up though Smile

Can anyone help? I started doing 18:6 in February by skipping breakfast , eating about 300 cals at lunch and a normalise dinner of about 400 cals. I don;t have a lot to lose as was 10st 3 and want to get to 9st 7. I lost 7lbs in a week, then put 2 back on and have stayed that weight , 9st 12 , for 2 weeks now. I eat healthily anyway and don'y eat much bread and if I do it's seedy, past and rice is wholegrain, don't have a sweet tooth. Has anyone plateaued this long?

greenpop21 · 13/03/2019 17:35

That should dread 500ish cals for dinner, maybe more at weekend.

greenpop21 · 13/03/2019 17:39

Really don't want to do 5:2 as this work around me and the family as I get more time in the morning, been early for work and can eat with the family normally in the evening.

yumyumpoppycat · 13/03/2019 19:15

Yes it is normal to plateau for a couple of weeks, quite a lot of people on the blood sugar diet thread would lose a big chunk in the first week or 2 then plateau for a couple of weeks and then weight loss usually picks up to a slower but more consistent level. your calories are already pretty low so you probably wouldn't want to add in 5:2 unless you are going to increase your cals on the other non fast days.

DareDevil223 · 14/03/2019 08:55

Popped on the scales this morning and I'm 1.8lbs down since Monday. It is tough to be having a long day in a pretty demanding job on 800 cals but I'm determined to do the 8 weeks. Working at home today so no windy motorway drive Smile.
Hope you all have a good day.

Well done daredevil.
Im not doing so well. I've lost focus a bit but determined to get it back. I'm going away in 3 weeks and I'd love to lose 10lb before then at least. It's doable if I stick to it.

greenpop21 · 14/03/2019 18:20

Thanks yum , I didn't mean do 5:2 in addition, I meant instead. I'm not that much of a masochist!
It's so strange, I'm a dedicated breakfast eater but I don't even feel hungry now so long as I have my morning cuppa, I'm fine until 12 or even later, then have last meal by 6. I think my cals have probably crept up tbh. Must be stricter.

Aberforthsgoat · 14/03/2019 20:41

I've fallen off the wagon in spectacular fashion today (lets just say two medium sized easter eggs fell into my mouth. In my defence they were gifted at work and I don't know what happened).

I am LIVID with myself.

However, I feel terrible. Like totally terrible. I can feel a second chin wobbling already and it's actually shown me I'm not actually missing out because it totally hasn't been worth it.

I'm actually craving simple, healthy foods now and will be back to it tomorrow. So I'm not going to see it as a failure undoing everything I've done, I'm going to take it as part of the process. Even though my blood sugar is probably through the roof right now!

Tomorrow's meal plan:
Late brunch: Scrambled eggs with asparagus and a heck chicken sausage
Dinner: Salmon with salad or veg
Snack: unsalted nuts or greek yogurt and a few berries

I am not weighing myself again until I've stuck to it for a good few days as I imagine the scales will not appreciate my little blowout today.

Sigh.

Aberforthsgoat · 14/03/2019 20:42

As an aside, if you only have a bit to lose - say half a stone to a stone - do you think the big surge of weight loss will still happen?

greenpop21 · 14/03/2019 20:45

Ahh Aber it happens. Great that you plan to get back on it immediately as that's when so many give up but that's life isn't it, always a temptation somewhere. Try to balance my food over a week normally when not doing a diet. That way I can indulge one night out then the next day eat very little to compensate.

greenpop21 · 14/03/2019 20:46

I don't now expect to lose big amounts after my initial 7lbs in a week but expected a pound over a week maybe.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 14/03/2019 20:54

Abers it's more to do with the visceral fat- if you are 'apple shape' with lots of visceral fat you will probably get more of an initial weightloss than if you are more generally overweight all over, even if that's half a stone or 5 stone. You could be slim all over but have weight round your organs etc- that first few weeks weightloss is mostly visceral fat, and water retention.

Did you do measurements before you started, particularly waist measurement? That's the best indicator of visceral fat loss.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 14/03/2019 20:58

Green you might not lose huge amounts, but hopefully what you will find is that you lose consistently, and also that it is easier to stick to once you lose the carb cravings. You won't 'fall off' plan so much. You lose your taste for sweet foods, and don't binge or eat more than you really want, particularly sweets and chocolate.
A pound a week is 52lb year, nearly 4 stone! That's a huge amount.

greenpop21 · 14/03/2019 21:00

Yes I need to keep that in mind. I just found it so motivating to stick to when the scales were lower every day but then 2lb back on , constipated and no loss for 2 weeks. The constipation has eased now but still no loss. I still haven't eaten breakfast and am still eating at 12 and 6 but I probably am eating 1000 cals per day.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 14/03/2019 21:04

We've just started a new thread btw for BSD/fast 800 here , feel free to placemark on there.

Aberforthsgoat · 14/03/2019 21:04

That’s interesting thank you. I think I will start with measurements tomorrow.
I’m a pear shape so I’m pretty slim on top but carry all my weight around my thighs/bum/ saddlebags etc and a bit around the tummy.

Thanks @greenpop21 I’m pleased I haven’t used it as an excuse to just give up completely and instead it’s actually made me more determined

thenewaveragebear1983 · 14/03/2019 21:08

Abers maybe you just don't have so much visceral fat to begin with. Thigh fat is not nearly as metabolically damaging as organ/belly fat. If you're a long term dieter, or you exercise or just have the right genes you might not lay down fat round your organs in the same way as others. Definitely do your measurements tomorrow though- I was much more overweight all over, and it was amazing to see inches dropping all over, even my wrists and neck where I never thought I was 'fat' anyway!

Aberforthsgoat · 14/03/2019 21:10

I will thank you! I do tend to see results more via measurements than the scales actually or in my clothes and how they feel

greenpop21 · 14/03/2019 21:24

I'm a pear too!

Aberforthsgoat · 14/03/2019 21:43

Hello fellow pears 🍐:)

Right I’m having an early night to sleep off this sugar crash then it’s BACK ON IT tomorrow. No excuses. Thanks for keeping me going ladies - even when I don’t post I lurk for inspiration.

Butteredghost · 14/03/2019 23:08

This thread has been really inspiring. I haven't bought the book but just looked the principles of it online and been following it for three weeks. I admit I've had a few days off for social events or days I just failed to stick to it. I've lost 6kg so far which I'm happy with.

Its been a bit tough on my relationship honestly. We used to sit together in the evening having a lovely meal and a glass of wine together, and have a biscuit afterwards. Now i don't drink, so it's not the same relaxed fun, and I leave the table after a few minutes as I can't bear to sit watching DH eating all these things I can't have, like bread.

It doesn't help that DH, who isn't even overweight, has somehow lost the same amount as me even though he isn't following the diet! Just from skipping the biscuits (which are now banned in the house as I can't resist them) and eating slightly healthier but basically normally. Argh!

NewFitMe · 15/03/2019 05:00

Day 5 for me. I’ve been full on plan and I feel great. I’m surprised I’ve managed this long on 800 cals. I thought it would be hell but it’s actually quite easy. I hope that my relationship with food chances during the diet and that I don’t need to be on a diet for the rest of my life. Obviously need to be sensible but hopefully it comes naturally then. Hopefully I don’t want to eat like I used to and don’t crave sugar/junk food etc constantly.

Jacksback · 15/03/2019 07:03

Still no loss ahhh !
Have had a relaxed few days as a bit fed up with the 800 restrictions and no result but nowhere near what I used to eat ( no gain either ) but of toast, glass wine not a massive blow out
Still thinking if my trip in 9 weeks so will pick it up again on a strict 800
Well done to all of you , happy Friday ! X
