I've got lots to lose, I'm feeling lousy, so heavy, achy and sluggish and I can't bear to see myself in the mirror so I'm making a dramatic change. Losing a pound a week is not going to cut it.

I eat far too many carbs so I think this Mediterranean style of eating and the the drastic cut in calories will do me good. I've read the book, I've stocked up on the right foods and cleared out the crap. I haven't eaten yet but I'll have my first meal soon.

I know that it will be hard going at times but the promise of rapid weight loss is worth a bit of pain.

Wish me luck. I'll update on my progress as I go.

I posted on the other thread but thought I'd add it here too. Here are my loss details for my first 4 weeks:

Week 1: 12lbs
Week 2: 4lbs
Week 3: 3lbs
Week 4: 2lbs
TOTAL LOSS: 21

I've also lost 16 inches and 5.4% body fat! Still not gone down a dress size but figure it's on the way... Hoping to now maintain a loss of at least 3lbs a week but also, now I'm not sick any more, I'm going to add in some gentle running and yoga.

Really thrilled!

Balloondog · 15/04/2019 12:09

Back on the wagon today after an absolutely shocking weekend that involved cupcakes, chocolate, crisps and copious amounts of fresh bread and butter! Confused I've gained 1.2 kgs thanks to that so this week will be about getting back down to where I was on Friday...
Starting today with lentil and chicken soup for lunch and will be having minute steak and greens for dinner tonight

froufroufoxes · 15/04/2019 15:25

Hi @PhoenixMama what's the other thread?

I also fell off the wagon yesterday after a BBQ - resisted the buns but not the brownies! Went for a walk today and did 10,000 steps to try and redress the balance. Will be weighing and writing everything down from tomorrow. Have taken measurements which hopefully will motivate me.

whitehalleve · 17/04/2019 07:51

Thanks for all the motivation on here. I've done my first two weeks now and I'm 9lb down. I'm surprised by how easy it has been so I'm going to stick to 800-900 for the next couple of weeks and see where I am.

PhoenixMama · 17/04/2019 18:01

Can't quite believe what eating like this has done to me. Took the kids to the movies, didn't even want anything. Went to 5 Guys for dinner, had a burger in a lettuce wrap and a few of the kids chips - with lunch whole day coming in at 798cals. In my previous life just the 5 Guys would have come in at 800cals!

Balloondog · 17/04/2019 19:05

I'm back on it again - feeling good and hoping to drop the 2kgs I gained over a three day weekend splurge. I've also joined the local leisure centre and went to my first class last night.
Had miso soup with bok choi, 30g turkey and 2 boiled eggs for lunch. Dinner was firecracker chicken with mangetout, red and green peppers, onions and a side of garlic soy aubergine. I've also had blackberries, raspberries and a few strawberries plus a spoon of Greek yoghurt. Feeling full and satisfied and closing the kitchen on 853 kcals.

rosieposey · 18/04/2019 07:43

Morning, could I join you?

I've been dipping in and out of your thread and I'm throughly amazed ( and inspired ) by your losses.

I have tried 16.8 before and managed it a few days. I've got quite a lot to lose. Well I say quite a lot but the last week I've had gastric flu and that's taken care of about 10lbs but it's given me the head start that I need and trained my stomach to do without less. I'll admit I wish I'd done it the conventional way as it's been a rough few days!

It'd be nice to have some people on the journey with me, it's been a long one. 4 years ago I was 18.4 now thanks to this recent illness I'm 13.9. Sounds a lot to some I'm sure but for me I'm starting to think that I might actually get the last 3 stone off now and get to a healthy weight range. My type 2 diabetes will definitely thank me for it.

LadyGagasMeatDress · 18/04/2019 13:42

Day 3. Lethargic and have a headache. Any tips.

DareDevil223 · 18/04/2019 18:57

Popping back in to say that I'm doing 5:2 now with the odd extra fast day if I think I need it. Weight is still coming down, I'm back at the gym and feeling really good.

The new job is amazing! I love it, the work is fascinating and the people are lovely, I'm so engaged and happy that food doesn't feel that important. I haven't eaten crisps or any carby snacky food since I started and that is unprecedented for me.

You are all doing so well [hugs]

@ladygaga How much water are you drinking? I found I need to drink at least 3L and really up my salt intake. I also use a magnesium oil spray which made a difference.

Had quite a bit of sugar today prepping icing, etc and now have an awful headache. Almost don't even want to eat it tomorrow 🤦🏼‍♀️

Justtrying · 19/04/2019 07:48

Hi, I started fast 800 on Monday, having read the books and meal planned whilst on holiday last week. Combining it with IF, I've done 5/2 before but found 500 cals too few especially when on an early shift.

Have done 3 strict days at 800 cals, and the rest of the week followed it until evening meal where I've added a small portion or carbs, plus a glass of wine. I've lost 3.5 lbs, and look less flabby.

Really pleased. Found it easy when busy, not so easy on earlies when up at 4am.
Meal planning seems to be the key, I am restricted what i can take to work as work airside, with no fridge or heating facilities so it has to be packed in a lunch bag, with no liquids.

Going to relax over the weekend and restart on Tuesday. If I can lose a pound or 2 a week I'll be happy as only want to lose 10lbs or so.

teta · 19/04/2019 08:11

I started on Tuesday. I’m finding following the diet relatively ok. I have been trying to cook filling foods like Bare Naked high protein noodles, soups and lots of eggs/ advocado. I really like courgetti with sauces made with olive oil. Its a bit watery otherwise. I’ve also discovered ricotta with raspberries. I much prefer it to yoghurt and it’s delicious.
Trawling Sainsbury’s last night whilst looking for no carb snacks I found anchovy stuffed olives and cockles in vinegar. Sometimes I really crave salty strong tastes and these seem to fill the spot.

Suffolkelfie · 22/04/2019 10:00

Week 3 completed and have lost 1lb, 10lb in total.

Have had lots of visitors staying over the holiday weekend, so have eaten more and had more alcohol. Also had a magnum type ice cream and a few tiny chocolate eggs yesterday, so pleased to have a loss.

Going to get back on plan. I also haven't been drinking enough water so I am going to increase water consumption.

PhoenixMama · 22/04/2019 12:42

Apparently gained 5lbs over the weekend but figure a lot of that is bloat & dehydration. Feeling rotten! Just had a lovely 114 calorie soup for lunch. My body was desparate for something that wasn't sweet!

Babyroobs · 25/04/2019 19:42

Hi everyone , hope you don't mind me joining. Just wanted to say I'm finding the thread really inspirational. I am loosely following this diet although not strictly calorie counting and not weighing myself although that may sound odd. I have a lot to lose maybe around eight stone and am doing this for health reasons. I have followed it for almost a week and have been surprisingly not too hungry and can already feel that I have lost weight and my bloating has gone down significantly. I have felt really tearful today though and wondered if anyone else has experienced this? Had a meltdown to my ( new ) boss today and feel mortified and embarrassed. maybe starting a stressful new job and a very different way of eating wasn't a great combination. Just interested to see if anyone else has felt the same.

Praiseyou · 30/04/2019 16:51

I am starting this tomorrow but I have such a sweet tooth (chocolate addiction really) that I don't know how I will resist it.

Any tips on willpower?

ChippingInLowCarbing · 26/07/2019 14:46

Hi all

Long back story, but just a Quick question...

I’m reading the book, I low carb, I do IF & TRE but weight still shifts glacially sonim
Looking st the F800 I’m vegetarian, I don’t eat eggs & try to avoid too much soy. So I was hugely interested in the recipes & the fact they were already calorie counted

But I’m puzzled (potentially very disappointed)

Now it’s not a ’ recipie’ as such but the avocado on Rye p182 states 290 cal & I just can’t see how?! That’s pretty much the count for the rye bread without avocado so it’s making me question the count for other recipes.

How accurate have you found the calorie counts for the recipes?!

Plus in the recipe book are there many egg free strict vegetarian recipes?

TIA

Carb flu is a bitch, but it’ll pass- promise

Drink lots and lots of water and make sure you get good fat in your food.

ChippingInLowCarbing · 26/07/2019 15:15

@Babyroobs

I’ve just cried my way through an episode of Desugnated Survivor, not sure if I can blame the lack of carbs/calories! I think I’m just an emotional person, which became even worse after my Dad died (several years ago now)

I think that by removing the carbs/calories a lot of people remove a ‘crutch’ (nice cuppa & a biscuit) when they’re upset so feel the emotion more?!

As you’re new to this it probably is making you low on ‘reserves’ for dealing with stress/upset, but in the long run I’m sure it’ll help. Hang in there🌷

I have about the same to lose as you (more if anything) but I’m shake obsessed it helps me stay in track and because I weigh daily it doesn’t phase me when it goes up or STS. Obviously when it goes down it motivates me 😊🥑💕

PhoenixMama · 26/07/2019 16:59

@ChippingInLowCarbing I think you'll really struggle to get enough protein I it you don't do eggs or soy. I know they don't recommend fast 800 for vegans for that very reason. The are very few recipes in the book that don't have meat, fish or eggs.

Also there are errors in the book which is why most of us use MFP or similar to track.

ChippingInLowCarbing · 26/07/2019 17:41

phoenixmama

Thanks for your reply😊. I know Diet Doctor doesn’t recommend Keto for Vegans or ‘oddballs’ like me but I was recommended MM F800 by a friend who knows my ‘oddities’ & as he ‘allows’ lentils/beans etc I thought it would be fine I’ve read the book & didn’t see anything warning against it, but I’m reading it again & will watch out specifically for that

Protein has been an issue since I started LC several years ago (when diagnosed with T2 Diabetes & was rescued from my state of abject panic by BIWI who saved my sanity& quite possibly my life 🌷 )

I was getting protein from Taifun basil infused tofu (way nicer than it sounds!!) and Cauldron sausages (tofu) but in a recent blood test it showed my Oestrogen levels are ‘high’ and my GP would like me to cut out soy, so I’m trying to eat less of those things (I’d already stopped using any other soy) but other than cheese & the small amount in veg protein is hard to get! As I said I’ve started using the PHD Protein shake powder but with yogurt, cream & a small amount of milk (definitely not a calorie light option) but until now I’ve been keeping my carbs under 30 per day but not counting calories. But now I’ll have to change a lot of things if I’m going to F800 😖 which is why I was wondering about the F800 shakes & if they were nice or not. I can ‘shake’ 1-2 times a day and have one meal if I can find a good high protein low carb shake that’s nice I can keep using the PHD powder with lower calorie mixes, but the F800 shake powder has a lot more nutrients & minerals in it so it seems like a better option (but it needs to taste good or I won’t use it).

I haven’t used protein powders before, but after several years of doing LC with ‘real food’ I’m a bit past caring about it and have reached a point where if there’s a easier option I’m minded to take it - which is why I was hoping there were some good eggless vegetarian recipes in the book 🙇🏻‍♀️

I think I’ll just have to re blood test lentils, bean etc & see what I can eat that doesn’t ‘spike me’ & then cook with those, minding the calories

I’m off to France soon - good news lots of sun, walking, olives , fresh veg - not good news - home to my favourite latte in the whole world and fruit & cocktails, not to mention bread/croissants etc

ChippingInLowCarbing · 26/07/2019 17:44

@Praiseyou

Not so much ‘will power’ but bring duagnised with T2 diabetes is good at focussing your mind, especially if you REALLY don’t ‘do’ medication!!

Obviously not wishing that on you, but maybe thinking about doing this to AVOID that might help keep you focussed on the ‘diet’?
