I've got lots to lose, I'm feeling lousy, so heavy, achy and sluggish and I can't bear to see myself in the mirror so I'm making a dramatic change. Losing a pound a week is not going to cut it.

I eat far too many carbs so I think this Mediterranean style of eating and the the drastic cut in calories will do me good. I've read the book, I've stocked up on the right foods and cleared out the crap. I haven't eaten yet but I'll have my first meal soon.

I know that it will be hard going at times but the promise of rapid weight loss is worth a bit of pain.

Wish me luck. I'll update on my progress as I go.

@OhMrTumnus

Actually I feel really well. Not even that hungry. I had an enormous salad for dinner with chicken, feta, olives, red onion, cucumber and cherry tomatoes. It was so satisfying I didn't even miss the carbs.

I am peeing a lot though, I must be getting rid of a lot of water Smile my face looks less puffy already. It's not been as hard as I thought so far.

I'm 5.2lbs down after 3 days. A very small dent in a very large amount of weight to lose but not bad Smile

How are others getting on?

@DareDevil223 Wowwww!!! Well done you Star. I have myself have also lost just over 5lb ... How strange! I'm absolutely thrilled to bits. DP was huffin this morning due to a 0.2lb loss overnight. Pep talk administered. Put into context that is still amazing! The biggest thing I've noticed is that niggling back ache I've had for months has finally gone! Whoop!

MrsDeanWinchester75 · 21/02/2019 22:50

Hi,
I started on Monday too, I lost 2 stone on Cambridge before Christmas with the intention of losing another 2 before Easter but wasn't in the mood for doing meal replacement and this sounded great.

So far so good, I'm finding it really easy and hope the scales show a half decent loss after 7 days, it's nice to read you guys are losing well.

My stomach is noticeably flatter already without the carb bloat.

DareDevil223 · 22/02/2019 00:04

Day 4 nearly over. I'm amazed that I'm not ridiculously hungry. And why isn't the queen of beige carbs missing them? It's peculiar but I'm not complaining. I'm sure there will be some tricky moments to negotiate.

@GhostBustersFavouriteMum
Well done lovely. How nice to be doing it with your DP. Mine is one of those naturally slim bastards but he's away for the next few weeks so I'm hoping to stun him with my weight loss when he next sees me (not that he ever thinks I'm anything but lovely bless him)

@MrsDeanWinchester75
Welcome to the gang Smile well done on your weightloss before Christmas I'm sure you'll do brilliantly on this if you can stick meal replacements.

@DareDevil223 that is amazing for your first few days- well done. And it's great that you're feeling so well with it.

I'm doing ok, weight loss definitely slowed down for me, but that's ok as it's still coming off. We have friends over this weekend, so I think I'll just eat sensibly but not worry too much.

I've been a bit more relaxed at the weekends and find going out for dinner, it's better for me to just enjoy, have a few glasses of wine and get back into it the next day (I try and fast for longer if I'm out the night before). I was worried I'd fall off the wagon, but all ok.

viccat · 22/02/2019 11:58

I'm going to join you from tomorrow!
Did 5:2 a few years back very successfully but a lifestyle change (mainly working from home) combined with depression has me at my heaviest weight ever. Shock I would like to lose about 22 pounds to get back to my happy weight, but 10 would put me back in the normal weigh category so that's my first goal.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 22/02/2019 17:28

We have a long running thread for the Blood sugar diet and have extended it to include the fast 800 as so many of the principles are the same (in fact, many of us who do the 8 weeks BSD end up doing a sort of 5:2 version as maintenance)

Please feel free to join us!

@viccat @MrsDeanWinchester75 Helloooo!
@DareDevil223 awww thanks chick xxx at day five I have a loss of 7.2lb overall. I am absolutely stunned and sooooo motivated. I had fresh strawberries and a spoon of clotted cream for lunch ... I was watched with envious eyes over the sad boxes of baked crisps and limp brown butties. I savoured every mouthful. I picked up some nut flour from Grape Tree on my way home so tomorrow morning Brunch is pancakes, berries, cream, cocoa nibs, toasted coconut and an espresso. Already excited!

DareDevil223 · 23/02/2019 10:55

Lost nothing yesterday and was a bit 'meh' but weighed this morning and nearly 2lbs dropped off overnight! 7lbs down in 5 days and I feel really good.

My grown-up DS is staying this weekend and we're going out for lunch. So going to have to be really good. I refuse to blow it Smile

Have a great day all.

Hope you've all had a good Saturday, I went for a picnic with my 2 girls and a friend today and took a small chicken salad, I didn't miss the usual sandwiches and crisps at all.

It all seems too good to be true at the moment, I haven't struggled a bit and am waiting for a huge crash in motivation.

Jacksback · 24/02/2019 08:49

I couldn’t have put it better myself
've got lots to lose, I'm feeling lousy, so heavy, achy and sluggish and I can't bear to see myself in the mirror so I'm making a dramatic change

After reading the posts here last
Night I got the book on my kindle , and hope to start ASAP ( prob tomorrow , don’t al diets start tomorrow ? 😕)

Hope to be inspired by you all and lose this hated 3 stone extra to get back to size 12’s

DareDevil223 · 24/02/2019 12:22

Morning all.

Despite lunch out I've lost another pound, so that's 8lbs in 6 days. I have a lot to lose but even so that's amazing.

It's been really easy so far and I feel really well. It can't be this easy surely? Maybe it's because I've cut out all the processed food that I ate too much of?

Starting my kettlebells workouts again tomorrow Smile

Jacksback give it a go, it's amazing how much better you'll feel in just a few days once you've got passed the sugar and carb withdrawals, it really brings it home how much junk food affects us.

It's a great time of year to do it too, March and April ahead to get a good chunk off ready for the summer months.

Zazu44 · 24/02/2019 20:48

I've started today! All gone ok so far, nice to see some positive posts from everyone. I'm out for dinner Tuesday but will be good . Have at least 2st to lose

Jacksback · 24/02/2019 20:49

Thanks MrsDeanWinchester75
Plan is 300 cal lunch
Small chicken Breast , tomato’s cucumber and salad leaves , drizzle oil /balsamic

Evening meal under 500 cal ?( From the book )
Steak with mushroom sauce
Can I add some veg to this or is that not allowed ?

Oh and if I made a dip (feta and olive ) what would I have it with for a lunch , have both i fridge already so a possible for tue

thenewaveragebear1983 · 24/02/2019 20:58

Jacks you can add green veg, I buy lots of frozen as it reduces the waste so I would have frozen green beans or peas (mashed peas are yummy and -almost- as nice as mashed potato!), or asparagus. I buy little pots of garlic butter from Asda and have a little bit on frozen veg to liven it up a bit. Be mindful of the calories though, peas and carrots etc can soon add up.

Jacksback · 24/02/2019 21:05

Thanks thenewaveragebear1983 I Love
spinach so will try that tomorrow 🙂
Will look out for the little butter pots
I am hoping to also do 14:10 ( as I pretty much do 12:12 now so it wouldn’t be too much of a leap I hope

Calzone · 24/02/2019 21:11

Can I just check some rules with you for this as I’m starting tomorrow and haven’t read the book 🙄🙄 which I will obviously buy.

800 calories a day tracked on mfp
12-8pm eating window
Water
Focus

Is that about it?

spatchcock · 24/02/2019 21:18

I’m curious about this diet - how will you manage to go back to “normal” eating afterwards and not put it all back on and more?

That’s what has happened to me after everything I’ve tried anyway Sad

DareDevil223 · 24/02/2019 21:20

@Calzone

Sounds good. The book doesn't place quite so much emphasis on the eating window for the initial very fast bit but I find it easier to stick to two slightly larger meals.

Good luck!

Calzone · 24/02/2019 22:51

Thanks daredevil
I’m just scared that if I eat too early then I might eat all day.

Skipping breakfast can work for me I think.

Oorwulliesbucket · 24/02/2019 22:57

Can I ask what book to buy for this diet??

DareDevil223 · 24/02/2019 23:01

Calzone I agree, I don't eat until at least 12/1pm as I find it easier not to eat in the morning.

Oorwulliesbucket It's The Fast 800 by Michael Mosley.
