16:8 any success?

iddybiddymum · 15/11/2018 22:17

I've been doing 16:8 Monday - Friday for 2.5 weeks now . I pretty much eat what I like between 12-8 ( not in excess and mostly healthy).

I didn't weigh myself but do feel clothes fit slightly better and feel
A little less tired.

Does anyone have any success stories at all? Would love to hear!

Day 1 for me. Anyone else still going?

I’ve read conflicting information about drinking tea/coffee with milk, some places say no calories at all. Others say a small about of milk is fine.

DianaT1969 · 21/04/2020 21:15

I started today. 17 hour fast last night. Today was easy, but I didn't do much exercise. Will definitely get out for a long walk tomorrow. I strangely felt better all day, even though it's only day 1. More energy and less bloated. This is my first time fasting, but I have had success with keto. I plan to get progressively more low-carb as I go along. For now just eating any nutritious food available.

Postmanbear · 22/04/2020 11:25

Day 1 went well and now nearly finished my second fast! Feeling less bloated today. My plan is to eat like normal but by missing out the calories from my breakfast, morning snack and nighttime snacking I should lose weight (fingers crossed!).

DianaT1969 · 23/04/2020 15:56

I'm enjoying this! Feeling better and lighter on day 3. I won't weigh myself for a week though and I'll carry on regardless. I'm eating less calories, more nutritious food and it feels sustainable. Eating 11am to 6pm.

Postmanbear · 23/04/2020 16:56

Glad it’s going well!
I’m hungry in the mornings but that’s better than being hungry all day long!
I weigh on Monday so would love to hear how you are getting on if you want to share?

DianaT1969 · 23/04/2020 17:30

I'm hungry too in the mornings but then really enjoy my brunch at 11am.
Will definitely share weight loss next week 🤞

Hello there! I've been doing this since lockdown and have lost a bit of weight (no idea how much but clothes a bit looser). I have 2 stone to lose. I'm finding it pretty easy and it fits with my schedule. But it has rendered me really constipated. I'm eating loads of fibre as usual, coffee, water, all the things that keep me going. I have a very balanced diet. I wonder if anyone else has experienced this has any tips? Or if it is just a coincidence?

DianaT1969 · 24/04/2020 18:19

Could it be lack of exercise? Have you tried two long walks or runs a day? I know that people will suggest water, but you're already doing that. More than 2 litres?

Postmanbear · 24/04/2020 21:11

Pleased it’s going well for you @Odoreida.
The only thing I can think is if you previously had a high fibre cereal lit bran flakes? If not it’s probably just the change in routine. If I’m having issues I use fibrogel to get things moving again naturally

I'm on day 8 doing the 16/8. I'm loving it!! I'm against dieting as restrictions always lead me to binges and feeling rubbish. I haven't weighed myself in 5 years as I got rid of my scales due to a very unhealthy obsession with weighing muselfy. I am very interested in intuitive eating and have been trying to get in tune with my body but it's been hard and the lockdown has thrown me off guard and I was overeating, feeling bloated and fed up. I'm loving 16/8. My eating window is 11-7 and I find this fits well with my lifestyle. I'm surprised at how much energy I have in the morning. Even managing an hour long walk with the dog ...getting up at 7 as well with lots of energy. Feeling less bloated and just happier overall! I think this is really helping me be more intuitively about what I actually want! Having good, hearty food. Butter and cheese and full fat yoghurt! These foods were always a no no for me but I much prefer theses to fat free/low fat options. I feel satisfied after my meals too . Glad to have found this thread Smile

Klaudia14 · 25/04/2020 20:38

Oh and definitely a yes to milk in coffee! No way could I do this without a large cup of freshly brewed filter coffee with blue top milk ...and I still have a glass of wine but they to keep this within my eating window Wine

Postmanbear · 27/04/2020 09:41

3 pounds lost this morning which is good considering I drank a lot of wine over the weekend.
Struggling this morning though, I have a headache and feel weak. Only a couple more hours to go though.
It’s hard to feel motivated in lock down when I’m wearing joggers all the time anyway. Our holiday has just been cancelled too 😔
How’s everyone else doing?

JoSpo · 28/04/2020 15:45

I started last week. Have lost 1lb so far. Fasting is fine but when I'm not fasting I want to eat everything.

Parkandride · 08/05/2020 11:02

Hi all, I've been realising that in lockdown I've been moving toward this eating pattern, I just love a 5pm dinner! And have breakfast later and later after my morning walk, so I'm going to give this a go.

I downloaded an app that talked about skipping a meal, is that necessary? I'd like to have my 3 meals within the window but then not need to stack

JoSpo · 08/05/2020 13:56

I think you can have your 3 meals in the 8 hours. I have been doing it 4 weeks but havent lost any weight. I have probably been over eating in the window though. I need to quite the chocolate and crisps after dinner.

Mary1935 · 09/05/2020 10:23

Oderida yes to constipation. I have had it badly and I can’t understand it either.
Do not take ducolax whatever you do. I bought glycerine suppositories
which helped and are side effect free.
I’m still not right thought.
I have been doing it for 4 weeks but disappointed with only a 2ib loss.
I feel better and am enjoying my food more so will carry on.
I eating 3 meals a day and around 1200 to 1500 calories.
I probably need to walk daily at least 10,000 steps which I haven’t been doing.
Anyone got any ideas.
I’m 55 5 ft 2 and weight 12 stone 9.
Thanks

Jazzmin · 09/05/2020 19:34

I have been doing this for about 6 months now. I lost half a stone in the first month but have maintained ever since. I’m still 2 stone overweight. I had never skipped breakfast in my life before and now quite happily go to 12 and don’t feel hungry at all. I drink hot water and lemon or tea with a splash of milk.
I have lunch at 12 and my main meal at 5. I am disappointed I haven’t lost more, however I may have put on more weight if I hadn’t been following it. My only downfall is wine, I start with dinner at 5 to fit it in my window but tend to neck it back too quickly. I try to have one meal just salad with no carbs, the other a normal home cooked meal.
Like the poster above, I am aiming for 10000 steps without fail to see if that helps too.

wejammin · 28/05/2020 08:07

Hi!
I've decided I need to do something about this lockdown weight so I'm trying intermittent fasting, as traditional diets are awful for me and make me crave all the food all the time.
I've got a really full on work week plus 3 young kids so I'm starting small with 14/10 to try and get rid of the evening binge without getting headaches, then will work up to 15/9, then 16/8. I like to do things incrementally, I'm very easily flawed by overwhelming changes.
So this week my window will be 9:00am to 7:00pm.

EndoratheWitch · 21/06/2020 21:18

I've been doing for 11months now. In the first six months, I lost two stone but since then, I've been stuck. I still need to lose half a stone. The good thing is that I haven't gained any of the weight I lost but I wish I could lose that half stone to be on "the right side" of the BMI scale. And, oh, the constipation!!!

Lockdownlumpy · 22/06/2020 08:01

Constipation sufferers, try chia pudding. Loads of recipes if you google. Also loads of water every day.

Sally99 · 22/06/2020 08:39

I did the 16:8 diet two years ago and lost a steady 2 lb a week up to my target weight loss of a stone. This time it isn't working at all and my weight is stuck.

Catty15 · 23/06/2020 23:21

Hi,
Can I join in too please?
I've done my first day, had lunch at 12 and tea around 6.30, then had an apple just before 8pm.
I might get on the scales tomorrow for a base line weight but am not keen as I know I'm probably about 13 .5 stone which is not good at all Blush

HighlandPeach · 24/06/2020 20:28

Hi @Catty15 - I started yesterday too! I weighed myself and was shocked to find that I’m 13st 4lbs. I had no idea I was so big. I need to lose 3st to get back to my pre-baby weight, but this plan feels manageable.

How are you feeling today? I’ve had bad headaches, but have managed to stick to times and recipes

Catty15 · 24/06/2020 21:07

Hi Highland!
I braved the scales for the first time in months and found that I actually weigh 12stone 11, so not as bad as I imagined but I'm only 5 foot 3 so I'm officially obeseBlush
I actually find not eating anything until 12 quite doable and I resisted eating biscuits yesterday evening! I do have a coffee with milk & 1 sugar in the morning but not sure if this will sabotage things as probably not fasting properly?
I'll be interested if this works without calorie counting but I am such a pig that I'm rather dubious.
Good luck to you, how old is your baby? Mine is 15 years old and I still haven't lost the baby weightGrin

HighlandPeach · 24/06/2020 21:16

@Catty15 lol, my baby is 2 years old and I still look 5 months pregnant whoops. I’m fairly tall, but the fat is literally all around my middle and none of my nice clothes fit.

I’m following the Fast800 menus, so sticking to 800 calories a day within 16:8. The recipes are actually really nice. I’m used to snacking constantly and I miss milk in tea, but I’ve managed 2 days, so fingers crossed I can continue 😊
