16:8 any success?

iddybiddymum · 15/11/2018 22:17

I've been doing 16:8 Monday - Friday for 2.5 weeks now . I pretty much eat what I like between 12-8 ( not in excess and mostly healthy).

I didn't weigh myself but do feel clothes fit slightly better and feel
A little less tired.

Does anyone have any success stories at all? Would love to hear!

Thanks very much giantnannyknickers! I'm determined to keep this up. I have realised recently how fond I am of snacking. I need to not give into every hunger pang!

Hi Coco I missed your post earlier. It sounds like we are all down on salads Grin some days are better than others Smile

I can't believe how hot it is over there giantnannyknickers. I couldn't handle it at all. It snowed in Cork last Wednesday. It rarely snows here so it was a major occasion. Roads were icy and many schools closed or opened late. At the moment it is bitterly cold but the temperatures are above freezing. I heard it was -15 degrees in Manchester but -5 is very very cold too Shock

FlamingGoat · 01/02/2019 19:10

@giantnannyknickers Its been -6 here today and the snow has started!!! I'm jealous Envy

giantnannyknickers · 01/02/2019 22:29

@FlamingGoat @IsFuzzyBeagMise in theory it sounds great but the fire risk and UV strength don't make it all that enjoyable! Saying that, I am off to the beach today to keep cool Grin

Also to everyone else struggling, I've found this website really really helpful for recipes- https://www.dietdoctor.com

I use it as a guide, I don't necessarily stick to keto.

Hello all, newbie question. I've sortof followed 16:8 last year and lost a stone. I have half a stone, maybe a bit more to lose now. I seem stuck at this weight. Is it worth moving to 5 2 to get it moving again?

giantnannyknickers · 03/02/2019 07:57

@Eesha I haven't tried the 5:2 yet as I'm breastfeeding, but I've heard doing a 3 day fast is a great way to shed extra pounds quickly. It's only done as a one off though.

Well done on the weight loss! I weighted myself today and I've only lost .5kg since I last weighted myself 4 weeks ago. But I'm defo a lot thinner. I've gone from 29% fat to 23% fat.

Sometimes I think it's better not to focus on the scale so much and more on your diet and then complimentary work outs.

IsFuzzyBeagMise · 03/02/2019 08:28

Hi Eesha, well done on losing the stone, that's brilliant. The 5:2 is effective in shifting the pounds if you can do it. It is challenging in my opinion. There is a good active thread on it in this section. Otherwise, as giantnannyknickers says, do the best you can with diet and exercise.

Thanks giantnannyknickers for the recipe tips.
How was the trip to the beach? Smile

HereIGoAgainAndAgain · 04/02/2019 19:47

Only half a pound off this week, but I had quite a few meals out over the weekend, so I was lucky I didn't put on!!

Hope everyone is having a good week.

IsFuzzyBeagMise · 04/02/2019 22:32

Hi HereIGo! That was good, all things considered! I had a quiet weekend and lost another pound (yay). I have been using My Fitness Pal the past two days to log meals and I'm staying on track within my allowance. I did have a very small bowl of apple crumble today but counted it into the food plan and I have finished eating since 6.45pm so fasting until tomorrow. Have a good week, everyone!

Eesha · 04/02/2019 23:11

I feel a bit crap peeps. My weight hasn't moved and my friend has lost 11lbs in a week on a soup diet.

IsFuzzyBeagMise · 05/02/2019 09:33

Yes, but you lost a whole stone and kept it off, Eesha. That's really positive. It's very unlikely that your friend will lose so much every week. That diet would put me off soup for life Grin

giantnannyknickers · 05/02/2019 09:54

@Eesha I weighted myself this week and only lost .5kg which is disheartening but I can feel it in my clothes! So don't be disheartened, some weeks will be better than others.

Also the soup diet sounds depressing! Is it just soup for breakfast, lunch and dinner?

Eesha · 05/02/2019 10:03

@giantnannyknickers exactly, also dahl plus veggies. She has always been a yo yo dieter but she lost 5lbs in the first three days alone. Unbelievable. I want to try but I just seem to be playing catchup with foods, ie must finish the rice in fridge, then I start diet etc etc....I'm feeling rubbish. And does anyone else feel bloated pre period.

giantnannyknickers · 05/02/2019 22:19

@Eesha oh that actually sounds delicious 😋 man I'm starving now hahaha

FaceLikeAPairOfTits · 12/02/2019 09:33

The last time I did 16:8 I had problems with eating huge amounts really fast at lunchtime, which I think meant I didn’t lose as much weight as I could have. How do you avoid that?

giantnannyknickers · 12/02/2019 10:21

I've completely fallen off the bandwagon!

I had smarties and a time out for lunch today

Someone PLEASE SEND HELP

IsFuzzyBeagMise · 14/02/2019 09:32

Hi Gang, I'm afraid I've slipped as well. I'm managing 7pm-8am but not much more than that. I started to eat breakfast with my small DD to encourage her to eat before she goes to school. She would skip it otherwise. Food wise, I'm not doing too badly, mostly healthy foods and the weight I've lost is staying off. I've started to exercise more too using workouts with weights on YouTube.
Giantnannyknickers, it is hard to sustain healthy living all the time. If I you, I would look at your photos and use that as motivation. You have done so brilliantly. If you can introduce the occasional treat into your diet, that would be the way to go.

giantnannyknickers · 15/02/2019 00:35

@IsFuzzyBeagMise I just had an aero bar for breakfast 😂 I really need to get back on this! Going through a bit of a struggle emotionally at the moment and I'm comfort eating.

It's no excuse and tomorrow is a new day 💪🏼

IsFuzzyBeagMise · 16/02/2019 12:07

How are you today, giantnannyknickers? I'm sorry to hear you're going through a rough patch. There is no harm in taking a break from the healthy eating plan, but make a resolution to get back on track soon; you will feel better physically and mentally when you eat well X

FlamingGoat · 20/02/2019 16:42

Totally fallen off the 16-8. Had the flu and recovery consisted of eating everything I shouldn't!! So pissed off with myself.

I also got my endoscopy results back. I have diverticulitis and now have to research a whole new diet and lifestyle. Add my broken elbow that refuses to heal and I feel ready for the knackers yard!!!

overtheirishsea · 21/02/2019 19:21

I'd totally fallen off the wagon for 4 days but I'm currently 10 hour in to a 20 fast to get back on track

IsFuzzyBeagMise · 21/02/2019 21:10

Ah, FlamingGoat, it sounds like you have been through the wars! Be kind to yourself; you have a lot going on especially with the diverticulitis. Best of luck with the new food plan.

Good luck with your fast, overtheirishsea. You're a braver (and more disciplined) person than me :)

FaceLikeAPairOfTits · 22/02/2019 09:31

I'm coping fine with the 16 hours of not eating, but as predicted I eat like a maniac the moment the 16 hours are up. How do you avoid doing that?

overtheirishsea · 22/02/2019 17:36

@FaceLikeAPairOfTits Maybe OMAD (one meal a day) would work for you? I fast for about 20 hours and then feast first thing and then have a small snack and then start fasting again👌🏻

FaceLikeAPairOfTits · 22/02/2019 22:01

Wow irishsea, that’s pretty hardcore. Shock What time do you eat?

overtheirishsea · 23/02/2019 07:42

I eat from about 7-10 or 11 in the morning and fast all day
