Has anyone got any bsd recipe books they would recommend?
Many recipes seem fine within permitted ingredients but a specific calories/nutrient counted one would be great
This is in anticipation of maintenance phase - I seem to have been doing bsd losing some weight recently and this seems most sensible plan I've seen

thenewaveragebear1983 · 29/05/2018 16:37

Primal my Dh laughs at me but seriously, raw cake mix is my kryptonite. I can not control myself around it, I’d much rather eat it than the actual cake.

Abit I use recipes off Pinterest, or there’s some good paleo, keto, HFLC ones too. I tend to use normal recipes though as the cals counts are never accurate enough in recipe books. Jamie’s 15 and 30 min are my favourite, plus his health food one (superfoods I think?) is all calorie counted too.

I tend to calorie count and then save the meals on MFP.

Calledyoulastnightfromglasgow · 29/05/2018 17:12

Well done shrinking!!

What do you put in them?

I def need to find some recipes

TheAmazingShrinkingWoman · 29/05/2018 17:18

I just had bolognese with grated mature cheddar on. Very nice. And I had steak and salad for lunch. Yesterday I had chicken breast with leeks and mushrooms. Last week's highlight was chicken and vegetables roasted in a bit of red pesto.

TheAmazingShrinkingWoman · 29/05/2018 17:19

Even if I don't do it exactly the same I can use the meal as a recipe if you see what I mean.

abitoflight · 29/05/2018 17:31

Thank you all
I'm so looking forwards to having olive oil and beans/pulses which I've not had much in 800-1000 cal phase
Hope to drop the last few pounds in a fortnight or so
But off to festival this weekend - drinking gin all the time will be costly and I need some sustenance so planning on felafel or bean based veggie options as meat comes in bread

Heismyopendoor · 29/05/2018 17:50

Hope everyone had a good Bank holiday :) just finished up my dinner, had a huge taco salad and had some nuts earlier. Still some calories left for a little something before bed.

ChocEggNoThanks · 29/05/2018 18:10

Coming in at 1150 today which is crap but still a huge improvement on last few days.

Feeling a bit fed up at the minute. Between work and lots of travelling it is hard planning. This diet only works for me when I have time to be organised. It's not helping that I'm trying to run the freezer down so using up lots of bits. Is this week 6 or 7? I can't even remember any more but I was only really good for the first few weeks! I need to think about doing 5:2 or 4:3 but actually allocating my calories across the week.

TheAmazingShrinkingWoman · 29/05/2018 19:06

I'm away tomorrow night at my cousin's house. 3+ hrs drive each way. Trying to plan it without fucking it all up. She's an extremely healthy person and a great cook. I've told her that I am not eating sugar or wheat as I figured that was the easiest way to explain it!

Realistic but still low cal - am going to take overnight oats and have at about 10ish on the way. No idea what lunch will be but usually bread, cold cuts, cheese, salad, olives etc so will just pick the sensible bits. We're having curry for dinner but don't know if it's homemade or takeaway. Breakfast on Thursday will be oats/yoghurt/fruit as her daughter eats piles of berries etc every morning and then picnic lunch on Thursday so will just ask for what I need!

Bit scared that going off plan at all will fuck it up for ever

ChocEggNoThanks · 29/05/2018 19:07

Feeling really hungry tonight. I am paying now for all the carbs yesterday. Might have some cheese. It's filling.

TheAmazingShrinkingWoman · 29/05/2018 19:15

I have a question - when you've gone off plan in the middle of the day on 800 how do you handle it?

Do you:
a) go as low as you can for the rest of the day even though you've already gone way over 800
b) eat but keep the carbs down
c) eat what you originally planned
d) something else I haven't thought of?

TheAmazingShrinkingWoman · 29/05/2018 19:18

Choc - I'm about to have hot blackcurrant. It seems to hit the spot and get me through to bedtime!

Snowglobes · 29/05/2018 22:40

Thanks bear for your picnic ideas. I’m addicted to cottage cheese lunches which is hardly picnic friendly! Oh primal you made me roar with your cake mixture! How did that work out on MFP?
chocegg I too wonder if 5:2 would be more achievable BUT doing this I probably end up 5:2 whereas if I tried 5:2 I’d probably end up totally caloried our! My kids made raspberry soufflés today.... Nutella milkshakes.... and blooming pancakes! They need to get back to school ASAP! My willpower won’t keep up!
amazing If I’ve realised I’ve gone over 800 I try to go as low cal & low carb as possible after that. But I don’t worry too much (although I probably should) as it’s moving generally in the right direction.

ChocEggNoThanks · 29/05/2018 23:37

Managed to resist the cheese had a cup of tea instead and the hunger disappeared. I got over my sulk and prepped some food for tomorrow instead!

PrimalLass · 30/05/2018 05:37

Snowglobes I've definitely been neglecting MFP! I am a rubbish baker so tried four batches of cakes before there was an ok one. In the end I didn't eat anything except a chicken salad and damn cake all day. And had a decent walk. Try again today.

Calledyoulastnightfromglasgow · 30/05/2018 06:03

Could cake mix ever be BSD friendly?! I’m thinking you need cake mix made from coconut flakes 😀

Snowglobes · 30/05/2018 07:04

Ah well done chocegg having a cup of tea instead. No cake baking today I think primal. I’ll probably have a cottage cheese lunch (skip b’fast as per usual). DH birthday today so said I’d make sushi with the kids. I’ve bought cauli so I can make some for me using cauli rice. No idea how many cals they’ll be but shouldn’t be too bad. I’ll try popping ingredients on MFP and see. Down half a pound this am! Yeah!

PrimalLass · 30/05/2018 07:18

Definitely no cake baking today. It was for a bake stall.

frumpety · 30/05/2018 07:27

Not the best first day for me , didn't eat anything until 8pm, made a sort of caponata and had a couple of chicken mini fillets with it. Had a gin and slimline tonic in which I chucked a handful of frozen raspberries as the tonic was room temp , didn't eat the berries though. Had gallons of coffee though so probably way over on the carbs with my milk intake.

Need to do some menu planning , taking salad for lunch today and will eat rest of caponata tonight for tea.

Think Bear mentioned an alternative to MFP for finding and logging calories , cant remember what it was called though.

Have got my 'fat' pictures saved, it was good to see what I actually look like in the flesh so to speak ( no full length mirrors in this house) , going to take new ones each month. My initial goal is a 4 stone loss , probably need to lose approx. 7 in total.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 30/05/2018 07:46

Morning! I have a headache- all alcohol induced! Went for a meal last night and had an Italian platter starter (cold meat, olives, small piece of bread) and for main had a beautiful lamb fillet on a pea purée thing, with a v small potato thing. 2 glasses of wine and 3 Long Island cocktails (made with Diet Coke, but clearly they have sugar syrup in too....!) but oh well. I had told myself during the day that I was having a cheat day but then actually didn’t have icecream with the dc, or pudding at the restaurant. I just didn’t fancy it.

Today- coffee, ibuprofen, go for a run! Then more of the same- salad lunch. We’re going for fish and chips at the harbour tonight which provided I don’t mindlessly scoff I should be ok as I don’t particularly like chips, I’ll be fine having just fish.

I use ‘fat secret’ app rather than mfp

Have a good one!

One last question before work , where do we stand on pickles ? like beetroot and onions and gherkins ?

Thanks bear hope the weather is being kind in Wales

thenewaveragebear1983 · 30/05/2018 09:36

I eat them (well, beetroot anyway) but check the vinegar isn’t sweetened.

Good luck meal planning frumpety. I stuck to my plans religiously for the first 5 or 6 weeks and am only just starting to trust myself to go out for food and not ruin everything.

Finally woken up to a loss of 1.4lb (overnight!) so nice to see the numbers going down again.
