Mean't to add that since I lost the 37lbs I very annoyingly have put back on 14 of those......Sad

Loubilou09 · 23/01/2018 13:39

Also need to add that I should finish the day on 44g of carbs

APlaceAtTheBSDTable · 23/01/2018 16:24

Welcome Loubilou !
Well done on your initial 37lbs - that's a great achievement and even though you've put 14lbs back on, you're still 23lbs lighter than when you started which is fabulous.
You'll see a real difference in time for your holiday. Remember to take your measurements when you start too as some weeks you'll lose inches rather than weight.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 23/01/2018 20:51

Welcome loubilou, that’s a really impressive loss and your menu looks good too!

I’m finishing the day on 1100 cals, 37g carbs (13 g fibre). 14k steps, and I did a 4.2k run too. Pushed the calories a bit today as I had my shake, then had lunch as well! Delicious bolognese with edamame pasta for dinner, I can see that becoming a staple in our house!

OP posts:
Loubilou09 · 24/01/2018 08:41

Morning all - I ended up on 914 cals in the end yesterday as had a quick menu change for dinner. Husband had made a low carb shepherds pie so that upped the cals a bit!

I also had one small square of dark chocolate - not sure if that's allowed??

Does anyone know what recommended water intake is on this diet please? On a low carb you are expected to drink 2-3 litres a day at least but I can't find anything about this in the BSD book. (Admittedly only skim read though!!)

Thx

Loubilou09 · 24/01/2018 08:47

think that's 805 cals

Loubilou09 · 24/01/2018 08:49

Gah lost my message! Food today is

Omelette with smidge of smoked salmon - 195

Chicken and veg soup or tuna salad - 220

Shepherds pie and broccoli - 350

Almond milk - 40

2-3 litres of water

veryveryquietly · 24/01/2018 10:27

Did my weigh-in for the end of Week 3 this morning, and after much scale dancing up and down all week I seem to have lost a net of 4 lbs this week. At least according to the scales this morning. They may change by this afternoon!

(Again, it's easier for me to lose these larger amounts because I'm quite large and this is a pretty radical change.)

I'm going to try really earnestly not to weigh myself until next week, though. Things often don't move day-by-day or even move upwards, because scales are deceiving and weight loss is weird. My brain knows this (and you lovely people in this thread reminded me, thank you) but I need to remind myself.

Am definitely going to look for that edamame pasta.

veryveryquietly · 24/01/2018 10:27

Lou, yes a bit of dark chocolate is fine I think. Doesn't MM say in the book he has it as a treat? As long as you're logging the calories and carbs and it works for your day, why not.

I had a small bit of Sea Salt Green and Black's the other day and the 3 squares (55 cals, 5 gr carbs, 4 gr fat) were much more enjoyable than a whole bar used to be. I think proper dark chocolate is even more doable for this.

veryveryquietly · 24/01/2018 10:32

Bear I hope your knee is better. It must be hard to get outside and exercise in this miserable weather. Kudos to you!

thenewaveragebear1983 · 24/01/2018 10:35

Thanks very, although slightly less kudos deserved as I don’t go out to run, I have a treadmill!! Dh and I treated ourselves last year and it’s been a really good purchase.

thenewaveragebear what a FAB FAB weight loss! I would absolutely love to lose 4lbs a week!! When I lost my 37lbs it took me about 10 months and was a really hard slog to be honest. I am so upset I put 14lbs back on and now just want the buggars off, plus also want the remaining 5-12lbs that I wanted to get off in the first round of weight loss. I know low carb definitely works so hoping I can follow your lead Smile

very not read the book as well as I should so thanks for confirming on the chocolate.

Re: Matcha tea - I read something on here I think about that - anyone know what that is and where I can get it?

veryveryquietly · 24/01/2018 13:49

Lou, I'm quite large right so it's a bit easier for me for the initial weight loss. I think my goal weight may be higher than your starting weights! :) But we're all slogging on as best we can so onwards.

Treadmill sounds like a great idea and like you're making very good use of it, very. Hoping to move to a larger place this summer which would allow for one myself.

veryveryquietly · 24/01/2018 13:56

Had the book handy so double-checked, and in the 'kitchen hygiene' section about prepping for the diet MM says he sometimes has a little dark chocolate after a meal, but has his partner hide the whole bar or else he'd eat the whole thing.

It's comforting to know even telly docs have their downfalls.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 24/01/2018 14:50

Loubilou I would love to say I had lost 4lb.....sadly not me!
Kudos => very!!! Although I have managed to almost lose what I regained at the weekend!

I’ve never managed the ‘one square of dark chocolate’ thing, I have no willpower once I get the taste, so for me it’s no chocolate unfortunately. But I know many have managed to discipline themselves to one or two squares.

I’m having a rest day today so no run for me, although I cut a page of toning exercises out of a magazine that I might try later.

Annoyingly, I have just been for lunch with my SIL and they had nothing BSD friendly, so I ended up having bread (this happened last week also!) but I’m determined not to use that as an excuse to graze all afternoon. I could still come in under 800 if I focus for the afternoon.

bridgetreilly · 24/01/2018 16:51

I've just got back from a 3 day conference and feeling very proud that I stuck to no bread/potatoes/puddings etc. I suspect I've eaten more calories than I should have, but at least I've avoided the carbs.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 24/01/2018 18:10

So not quite under 800, but closing the kitchen on 970 cals, 78g carbs (13g fibre). So not wholly awful, considering the bread incident. I must ensure that next week we go somewhere they do salads fgs.
I’ve done 13k steps today, but no running.

My water alarm is definitely paying off- I’m definitely drinking more at regular intervals during the day. Even if I miss one or two, I’m still getting 4-5 pints of water in. Considering I’m due on I am surprisingly not bloated and that’s a big help towards my mood as that bloated feeling always drags me down.

bridgetreilly · 24/01/2018 20:06

I cracked. Cold, tired, miserable and starting a cold. So I ate the two chocolate chip cookies that were in the freezer. Man, they tasted good.

Starting again tomorrow.

ICJump · 24/01/2018 20:59

Had a good day yesterday calorie wise. Even took a BSD friendly snack to the movies.

But disappointing I’m still only 200gs down since Monday. I know weightloss would slow down after the intial loss but I didn’t think it would slow quite so quickly.

Loubilou09 · 25/01/2018 08:06

Sorry got my names mixed up 😞 very well done in the 4lb lost - that's brilliant!!

I finished the day a little over yesterday at 1075 as typically I let a few "snacks" creep into the menu - I do this all the time...I work from home and my office is just outside the fridge so I constantly graze - it's hugely annoying and very hard to stop!

Plan today is a bit fluent as I am going out tonight. I have checked the menu at the restaurant and the choices are not particularly BSD friendly - I could eat before going out but it's not very social. I am thinking if I can push my breakfast to as late as possible and try and only have 400 cals today then I could fit in a chicken Caesar salad tonight and pick out the croutons...

NEED TO UP MY WATER!!!

Oblomov18 · 25/01/2018 08:06

Hello everyone.
I've put in 11 lbs !!! In about a month. I couldn't stop eating. My peri menopausal hot flushes were mad, then I just started eating: crisps and chocolate. All the time.
So sad. SadSo angry with myself. Angry

Will go back and read through end of last thread now.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 25/01/2018 08:27

Hi oblomov, I was wondering how you were getting on. Sorry to hear you’ve been struggling. We’re all here to support you, and we’ve all been where you are. Do you have a plan of action?

ICJump I’m like you at the moment, except I haven’t even had the big loss to start with. Optimistically I stepped on the scales today and I’m still 12.0.2, which to be fair is a very small loss this week overall, but we’re talking ounces not pounds! I’m really trying not to get disheartened but it’s quite hard not to. I am expecting one hell of a ‘whoosh’ once my body accepts my new exercise regime! I’m being told by everyone that it’s water retention and it will all show eventually, but it is hard to do this plan without weight loss to keep us going!

Plan for the day: walk to school and then to park. Shake for brunch. Run this afternoon. Pork steaks and roasted celeriac (my new favourite vegetable!) for dinner, with enough cals left for a few raspberries and a blob of yoghurt this evening.

APlaceAtTheBSDTable · 25/01/2018 10:04

Oblomov it's so easy to do. Don't be too hard on yourself. I feel like I'm now losing and gaining the same 7lbs over and over again.I always struggle with BSD in winter. For example, yesterday I was excellent until evening when I ate lasagna.

Oblomov18 · 25/01/2018 10:14

Thanks for the welcome back Bear.
No, no plan as such. Its my birthday tomorrow and I'm due to go out and have Carbonara. My favourite pasta, ever.
After that, THAT's IT. I'm going to be 'On it'.

Have read end of last thread, and this one, now. Loved the meme's at the end, especially the homicide one! Grin

Like VeryVery, I never tell anyone about the 800, as Bear says, they look at you like you are anorexic. I never talk to anyone about 800. I only say Low carb, to help my diabetes.

Talking Of which - I have to go to diabetic clinic next week. I'm bound to be told off for not doing enough testing. Plus the added stone doesn't help!!

Well done Bridget on the huge initial loss.

And Very. the stone in a week, is MAJOR.

cant believe all of you doing 4k's, marathons etc. I do no exercise at all. ever. Blush

I will try and find the Aldi Edamame pasta.

Starts planning "plan"......

Oblomov18 · 25/01/2018 10:16

Thanks Place. Yes I know its so easy, to slip. But this was more than just a slip. Practically a stone put on. Oh well. Back on it.......
