Ok, I know we technically haven't finished 2022 yet as there is still the Christmas Concert for some (my ds is not taking part due to his conservatoire concert) but NYMT have released details of their 2023 season & auditions here

Have the Tonbridge concert people been told when the Sitzprobe is going to be yet?

Had this in email with all the course details..... "We shall also confirm ASAP a one-off weekend rehearsal date for cast and band in June. This will be in London, probably on Sunday 4 June."

Thank you, that’s really helpful. We thought it might be the previous Sunday but Ds has a performance that day (last year the band did Sunday & Monday & the singers just did the Monday but they tied it in with the Sondheim society performance date.

Collected ours an hour and a half ago. Since then we have done an average of 12mph- this proving there’s a reason I’m a northerner not a southerner 🫣

That bit between Sevenoaks and the Dartford tunnel is always a nightmare for those of us heading North. Today, after 7 years, I finally discovered the sneaky route across winding 'country'/suburban lanes. Still took ages, but at least we moved! Hope all the DC have had a great week. Mine is shattered, but pretending he's not.

Still all happy (easter) bunnies at this end - though finds this 'week at easter' lark weird after the baptism of fire that was 3 straight weeks in summer 2021 😂
After the journey home, I have happily concluded that said child is old enough to get the train alone next time - thank goodness!!

Sounds like a great week was had by all at NYMT. Just checking in on BYMT fellow reserves -out of curiosity, I know that @yodaforpresident your DD was offered a show, did anyone else hear anything? Still dithering for one of my DC who is torn whether to wait or book onto something else. I know in previous years there has been movement but I would have thought would have been by now?

@wonderfullife123 Is it worth emailing/giving them a ring? I'm sure they will understand that you just need to know either way.

Thanks @Biscuitsneeded - I did email them but they advised that the reserve list would be open until the very last minute. I suppose there's a difference between the technical possibility and the likelihood in practice that they probably won't and can't share iyswim. Feel torn for DD as she still has a teeny hope she might get lucky.

It is tough how BYMT keep them waiting.

Ds is still hoping he can play for the showcase concert. If sitz is the weekend of 4th June as indicated above, he can, if it is the week before or the week after, he can't.

I see they are still looking for another keyboard player specifically one who has Mainstage experience if anyone knows anyone.

@wonderfullife123 we're still technically on the reserve list, but have given up and booked something else (DD very excited and happy about that, also did an exam and did really well so a bit of external validation there for her). I think there's another couple of weeks before they either send final offers, or let you know they've closed it for this year? It really does drag on, I couldn't do that to DH, never mind DD!

Of course! Not even slightly local, so she needed a residential option and one with resident chaperones, given her age. West End Stage summer school, based at Guildhall. She likes the idea of classes, with a showing at the end, rather than the "put on a musical in a week" format that she's done before. She's hoping for a crash course of intensive improvement with this, which may well be asking too much from a summer holiday entertainment but it seems to be the closest we can get.

Oh thank you for mentioning the Samsung issue with tagging someone. It's been driving me mad but I didn't know where the problem was! Now I know it's samsung thing and not me being stupid I am relieved!

I see NYMT have teamed up with Arts Ed for their summer course! That feels like a great move for them - and I'm hoping it gives them another venue for auditions and callbacks too 😂

It’s great if another venue for auditions and callbacks can be used. May be a bit of a unique perspective here but I was a bit disheartened to read that and just wondered if it would be a bit less accessible for some and it put me off it a bit- am considering a course for dd if she doesn’t get cast next year…

Why do you think it makes it less accessible?

@Comefromaway i don’t know really so it sounds a bit like I’ve jumped to conclusions but it just has made me think a bit more about it’s suitability for dd. I may well be wrong and probably should just ask questions about it if we are going down that route..

From what Chris C tweeted it sounds as if he will be the NYMT part of it, so from that perspective it should be just as accessible as it ever would have been.
