Ok, I know we technically haven't finished 2022 yet as there is still the Christmas Concert for some (my ds is not taking part due to his conservatoire concert) but NYMT have released details of their 2023 season & auditions here

Good luck everyone whose dc are applying this year

Had a call with mine from SevenOaks - having a good time, food (which was always liked anyway) has apparently had an upgrade! There are now electronic boards so you can see what the meals will be - and Jeremy has arranged for both beans AND hash browns to be available every morning 😂

Comefromaway · 01/04/2023 23:36

I was told about the hash browns and beans.

Ds didn’t like the food today but he had a premier in. breakfast. He said it was some potato and meat thing.

I think he was very tired as I’ve not heard from him tonight.

Yes, I’ve had 2 food pictures and I’d be more than happy to eat it. Other than that, nothing!

Alakazam8 · 02/04/2023 21:55

Nothing apart from food, from anyone- glad they are all having a great time then…

allhailthebrain · 02/04/2023 23:33

I can tell you today was an epic toad in the hole followed by crumble - which they all regretted when they realised it was followed by a dance session 😆

The food photos I've seen so far look fabulous! Definitely way above his own (similar) school's fare.

sleepisoverrated1 · 02/04/2023 23:39

I've had one text to say he's too busy to call, otherwise nothing. I suspect we're missing him a great deal more than he's missing us!

Alakazam8 · 03/04/2023 07:04

@Onedaymore123 how are you and your dc getting on? Hope you are finding plenty of things to do and dc having the best time.

Comefromaway · 03/04/2023 07:54

I’m afraid my Ds is poorly. Dreadful timing. Waiting to see how he is today before a decision is made.

Oh @Comefromaway so sorry to hear that. I hope he’s better soon.

Triflefan · 03/04/2023 08:41

Oh no @Comefromaway fingers crossed he’ll be on the mend this morning

Comefromaway · 03/04/2023 09:05

He sent me a voice message. He is still feeling very rough but managed to eat a very little this morning. If he feels better this afternoon he is going to try and sit in on the rehearsal even if he doesn't actively take part so he can start to get more familiar with the show.

Oh no- we are sorry to hear this. Hope he is starting to recover now. Hope he’s got plenty of drinks and they are looking after him! What rubbish timing.

Comefromaway · 03/04/2023 09:29

He says he has a big jug of water & is trying to drink as much as possible. (He doesn’t normally like plain water).

Sorry to hear that. Poor lad. Hope he will start to feel better soon.

Comefromaway · 03/04/2023 09:41

At first we thought it might just be tiredness after a very busy week last week at conservatoire (plus usual end of term exhaustion) but he says this doesn't feel like that, it feels like he is properly ill.

Must happen a fair bit cos if kids have a really busy term it’s often when they stop for a bit that they get ill, plus new people new germs!

How is DS @Comefromaway? Hope he's turned a corner and has been able to stay.

Comefromaway · 03/04/2023 19:36

A bit better. He sat in on the second morning rehearsal and managed to eat a little bit of lunch. I’ve just had a photo of the score sent with some comical music directions so I assume he’s been in the rest of the sessions.

@Comefromaway good to hear!

Comefromaway · 04/04/2023 13:55

He's back on form today. Disappointed because the yorkshire puddings (which are his favourite and the only thing he would have eaten) ran out just before he got to the front of the queue so he had to run out to Spoons to get some chips but apart from that and the fact they only have juice available at breakfast and only water at other meals everything is "mint".

Onedaymore123 · 04/04/2023 17:25

Alakazam8 thank you so much for thinking of me..yes kept myself so busy I've worn myself out 🤣
It's not as bad as I thought as.she is loving it (so i have relaxed) but says it's exhausting...got quickie phonecalls fri and sat and the odd text but says too shattered to chat! Got photos of the food, which she loves!

Mumofteens20 · 05/04/2023 07:00

Hello. Sorry late to the party, I forgot there was this lovely forum! My DD (16) auditioned in 2021 via zoom and didn't get a call back, and last year couldn't audition as had too many other things going on that clashed with the dates. She auditioned this year and was cast in the concert, she is at Tonbridge now and is having an absolute blast, loving every single minute. Said everything is amazing and everyone is lovely. My question is, will she ever want to come home? 😂

Montimom · 05/04/2023 11:51

@Mumofteens20 most likely not 😂 my Dd13 is also in Tonbridge and absolutely living the dream. She said there’s a great atmosphere and everyone really lovely

Alakazam8 · 05/04/2023 11:53

@Comefromaway great news about ds
@Onedaymore123 that’s brilliant, so glad you are both enjoying it
@Mumofteens20 no she won’t - probably have last day tears and post rehearsal blues, sorry, but worth it for the experience!!!

Biscuitsneeded · 05/04/2023 17:18

Wow, so pleased to hear the happy updates from Tonbridge. They won't want to come home, but with the speed this year is going it will be July, and performance time, before they know it!
