Ok, I know we technically haven't finished 2022 yet as there is still the Christmas Concert for some (my ds is not taking part due to his conservatoire concert) but NYMT have released details of their 2023 season & auditions here

I don't think they have had rules in the past. If they are under 18 they usually ask who they will arrive and depart with, but if you answered ' independently by train' I don't think there's a problem. My son has gone independently to auditions and some rehearsals for a couple of years now and they are fine with that as long as they have the form completed in advance (it will probably come through soon). It is a bit of a walk from the station though, so if your DS is on the KMK chat group, perhaps they could arrange to all get to Sevenoaks for a certain time and share a taxi.

Thanks @Mcmumager ! I think we’re probably going to bring him down but he’ll get the train home. Hopefully that’ll avoid any strikes!

Hello does anyone know what time the BYMT projects usually ask them to arrive on day 1? Trying to plan ahead some travel for the summer - DD in a production that is an extremely long way away from us...

@wonderfullife123 bymt normally ask them to arrive between 12-1 and having already eaten. They would put their things in their rooms and be ready to start after that. They are good at telling when their first and last meals are 😂

He didn’t say. I just got a text to say it went well and they asked why he wanted to do it (again) & what his show preferences were and why

He does, partly for his own development and partly for logistical reasons/dates

I'm trying to put the BYMT reserve list to the back of my mind but its just there - niggling 😂

@MxPickles i totally get that! I never expected the change for ours to come through but it did - you just never know.

The boy we know has been offered a BYMT project - I’m told (third hand via teenagers so apologies for the rubbish description!) that it’s a dance project to do with teaming up with people with disabilities.

It doesn’t sound like he’s keen, I suspect he wanted a musical - think he’s likely to turn it down.

@Shesings2023 you asked about doing two projects in a summer… No but kind of!

last summer mine was doing the NYMT workshop for a week and was offered a BYMT show which clashed. A few weeks later they offered a different one, and we really had to think! In the end, because it would have clashed with a project at home, we decided to do that and then a week’s course at a college.

So it was one week on a local musical theatre show. One week on a MT course at ArtsEd. One week at NYMT - and we turned BYMT down.

it wasn’t too much here 😂but it was a nice variety - and we were able to make a family holiday out of the ArtsEd course, the rest of us doing things during the day then all of us going to the theatre at night. It worked well!

Agree with PP usually 1pm start . My DS is in same boat, miles away from us, he says he absolutely doesn't want to miss first session as last couple of years it really sets the ground work . I mean they'd be fine if couldn't arrive until tea time but it really helps them settle in. MyDH is planning on taking him night before or get within a couple of hours drive

If he turns it down he might still get offered a different one, once acceptances are done there can still be movement

Yes that happened to us last year, we turned down one, then a few weeks later they offered another. I guess what I was trying to say was, there will be movement on the reserve list so there is still a possibility for those in that position as people turn things down.

Following his interview Ds has been asked to do a video of him playing something from one of the shows. No indication of when they will let creatives/musicians know
