Ok, I know we technically haven't finished 2022 yet as there is still the Christmas Concert for some (my ds is not taking part due to his conservatoire concert) but NYMT have released details of their 2023 season & auditions here

Good luck everyone whose dc are applying this year

Thanks for the messages guys, think the Snap group is sorted! Lovely to hear from other KMK mums!

Also I forgot earlier, @nearlyhomealone was it you that was waiting till May for NYT results? Sending virtual biscuits, that was me last year - hell of a wait when first tape was January! It was positive here, so hope it is for you!

Cherylf123 · 07/03/2023 23:46

They have said all the offers have gone out and they may be in touch with those on the reserve list soon. We had until 17th to acceot/decline places x if you havnt heard either way it might be worth getting in touch with them. Ive found them excellent communication wise x

allhailthebrain · 07/03/2023 23:52

Thanks @Cherylf123 that's good to know. Mine didn't audition for BYMT this year but we know someone who did. He's said nothing to date, so I'm guessing one way or another it wasn't good news for him.

Alakazam8 · 08/03/2023 08:03

Well done mini @allhailthebrain - what a pleasant surprise for dc.
Theres still musician places to be announced and people still in waiting room for those, so NYT crew aren’t yet on their own!

doesanybodyhaveamap · 08/03/2023 10:57

Still in NYMT musician waiting room... views on video clocking up rapidly so hoping we hear something soon 🤞🏻🤞🏻

Comefromaway · 08/03/2023 11:28

I wonder whether they will wait for AMD's to be chosen first as some may have applied for musician as a back-up & AMD's need to be in place for the Easter rehearsals whereas musicians are not needed until the summer.

Or maybe they will do it in reverse, who knows?

OP posts:
allhailthebrain · 08/03/2023 18:44

Good point! Good luck to all those musicians anxiously watching the video views increase! Crossing my fingers for them all, and potential AMDs too!

I hope you all hear soon :)

EmsPinky · 09/03/2023 18:47

Hey does anyone have any information, or a general idea from previous experience, what the plan will be for the KMK kids residential 1st April please? Rough time of arrival etc I have two other DCs with birthdays that day one 17 and the other 7 so I’m trying to arrange the day 🤦🏼‍♀️ xx

Shesings2023 · 09/03/2023 19:45

Guys has anyone allowed their DC to do both NYMT and BYMT any year? Is it too much? It would be 3 weeks of MT in Summer as its not the full show with NYMT, only a week of workshop?

Comefromaway · 09/03/2023 20:41

Ds did two NYMT shows last year which I guess would be the equivalent. It wasn’t planned, someone dropped out.

it was 1 week at Easter, 2 days Sitzprobe in May half term, 1 night show in July, then 2 weeks (rehearsal & show) in August.

it didn’t leave any time for much else like a family holiday but he coped fine.

Biscuitsneeded · 09/03/2023 21:09

@Shesings2023 I replied to your DM the other day - I hope you spotted it! Not quite the same, but DS did 2 weeks OF NYT and then immediately 2 weeks of NYMT last summer! Wouldn't make a habit of that, for financial reasons, but in terms of energy levels he was absolutely fine. Loved every second of both and said it was the best summer of his life. To him that IS a holiday.

Biscuitsneeded · 09/03/2023 21:12

@EmsPinky Usually they ask them to arrive for about 10.30- 11am on the first day. I can't imagine that will have changed. No need for parents to stick around beyond a quick goodbye.

Mcmumager · 09/03/2023 21:14

Oh dear- I was hoping lunchtime at least lol- it’s a long trip for further north.

Comefromaway · 09/03/2023 22:15

We stayed overnight last year at a premier in. As we knew we couldn’t make it in time.

OP posts:
minimits · 09/03/2023 22:18

We’ll be staying in a premier inn, usually we hike down in the morning but it’s always so stressful and however early we leave we seem to get there a little late!

allhailthebrain · 09/03/2023 22:55

We also usually stay in a premier inn - depending on the prices we stay somewhere on the way down (we have about a 6 hour drive if no delays), fill them with breakfast and head off. I'm with you @Mcmumager it's a long way from up here!

Mcmumager · 09/03/2023 23:06

Ha ha @allhailthebrain I was hoping he could go on the train but looks unlikely. They may be on strike anyway. i’m actually down south returning home on the 31st so not sure I want to turn straight round so might send his dad for a boys trip!

My dd is in a show 31st/1st so complicated but that’s nothing new for us or most of you on this chat!

Alakazam8 · 10/03/2023 08:30

Lovely to hear about all these exciting plans for rehearsal drop offs. We are really missing it this year so it is nice to read about it anyway!

Mumster40 · 10/03/2023 11:00

Does anyone know when we will get sent some info re. April residential? I’m trying to work out whether I need to take the day off work on the 6th to collect… What time do they usually finish? And I hadn’t realised that KMK and Armchair are rehearsing at the same time at Easter?

Comefromaway · 10/03/2023 11:24

I think they finished last year about 4-4.30pm ish. I just checked and I booked a 5.31pm train for ds from Tonbridge!

OP posts:
Operasingerkath · 10/03/2023 11:45

It’s a long drive for us, too, and the logistics are a challenge! Hopefully we’ll get some more information soon so we can plan who needs to be off work. It’s the thought of the drive back up north on Easter weekend that fills me with joy 😂

EmsPinky · 10/03/2023 13:41

Thanks @Biscuitsneeded xx

Biscuitsneeded · 10/03/2023 13:47

It's normally a 4pm ish finish on the final day. Kids who are old enough to travel alone by train often share taxis to and from the station, but it's walkable if you have plenty of time. If you drive through the centre of Sevenoaks on arrival day there's a steady stream of teenagers and young adults pulling suitcases up the hill! Yes, this year they are all rehearsing more or less at the same time. I believe the showcase team are in Tonbridge and the others in Sevenoaks?

Operasingerkath · 10/03/2023 15:13

Thank you @Biscuitsneeded, I hadn’t really thought about trains. Do you know if they have to be over 18 to get a train alone? It’s way cheaper and faster, even with changes, for him to do that than us drive!

Mcmumager · 10/03/2023 15:21

@Operasingerkath its no problem to get trains alone. Just keep an eye on potential strikes as there may be one on 1st of April.
