Ok, I know we technically haven't finished 2022 yet as there is still the Christmas Concert for some (my ds is not taking part due to his conservatoire concert) but NYMT have released details of their 2023 season & auditions here

Good luck everyone whose dc are applying this year

Reserve list for us. Neither here nor there in terms of planning!

Trying to work out now how long we give it before we give up and decide to do something else instead. Does anyone have a feel for how quickly things move on the reserve list?

It was a good experience anyway, and I think she'll probably give it another go another year.

MxPickles · 02/03/2023 14:28

Also reserve list - does everyone automatically get reserve? How big is the list!?!?!

Shame to not get any further this year but for the first year being eligible to audition kiddo did good.

yodaforpresident · 02/03/2023 14:42

Reserve list here too.

MxPickles · 02/03/2023 14:51

Sounds like they are sending out reserves first then... either that or everyone is on reserve?

How old are your DC @yodaforpresident and @NotEvenSlightlyReasonable am I right in thinking they are both at the younger end like my DD?

Cherylf123 · 02/03/2023 14:55

DD has just been offered Angry Salmon, she will be so pleased when she gets home from school. Hope the wait isn't too long for everyone else x

Great news :) Well done x

yodaforpresident · 02/03/2023 14:58

Great news @Cherylf123! My DD is 11 @MxPickles so yes, the younger end. She was offered the concert at NYMT which she is thrilled with.

YouBetYourBippy · 02/03/2023 15:02

My daughter (13) has been offered Romeo and Juliet - her first time auditioning so she will be delighted when she gets home!

@Cherylf123 and @YouBetYourBippy great news - well done to them!

DD is just 13 (was 12 during the auditions) , and this is her first time trying something like this, and she had fun. So it's been good, and we'll work out now what comes next!

Congratulations & well done to your daughter. Its my DD first audition too.

Biscuitsneeded · 02/03/2023 15:57

Congratulations to all the BYMT yeses - and to those on reserve list, if you can afford to wait I believe there is often a fair amount of movement at BYMT after offers come out. No guarantee you will get a place, but it does happen. Nice to see more good news here!

Thespymum · 02/03/2023 16:45

It’s a no for us. She says she was feeling unwell on the audition day so thought it would be a no so she is ok.

Alakazam8 · 02/03/2023 20:32

Congratulations and Well done to those with Yes’s. Chin up to all those like my dd who got no’s this time and are heading into a separate waiting room to start again next year- it does have the best biscuits and plenty of drinks though!!

NotEvenSlightlyReasonable · 02/03/2023 22:28

@Alakazam8 save some of those biscuits for those of us taking the slow route? We're going to need them!

minimits · 03/03/2023 09:03

Congratulations to successful BYMT cohort and sorry to hear about the no’s. These kids are amazing at dusting themselves off and trying again! Which is just as well for the industry they want to go into.

wonderfullife123 · 03/03/2023 10:47

Mixed for us on BYMT -one DD offered a production, the other who also recalled for NYMT but didn't get placed on reserve list and feeling a bit downcast. Does anyone have a sense of how the reserve list works and any successes getting placed from reserve list? When do reserve offers typically come? Well done to the yeses and well done to all DC for putting themselves out there.

My eldest also has R&J and also 13. She did White Bear last year, also in Plymouth, so she's already excited...! DH less pleased at the prospect of dropping of in Plymouth, as it's a bit of a trek for us...

YouBetYourBippy · 03/03/2023 19:05

@jaundicedoutlook Great news - congrats to your daughter 👏 Plymouth is also a trek for us...!

On that note, do any of the BYMT veterans know what time drop off normally is on the first day? Or does it vary from place to place?

jaundicedoutlook · 03/03/2023 19:19

@YouBetYourBippy - last year drop off was around lunchtime, but it was (for her production) the Monday where this year drop off is Sunday. We’re just coming back from holiday 2 days before it starts so I think we’ll book a hotel for Saturday night nearby to save on stress. I’d expect it will be around midday again, but last year the email with all the logistics didn’t come out until much later in the springtime.

YouBetYourBippy · 03/03/2023 20:51

Thank you - that's really helpful.

Quitelikeacatslife · 03/03/2023 23:21

DS has been offered Romeo and Juliet in Plymouth too. Heck of a trek for us too (although I am away on girls weekend until 30th , oops) DS said that he really doesn't want to miss the first session as that's when you get to meet everyone. It was actually easier to get to Belfast last year! Still DH will cope , he's excited and on the performance/pick up weekend we can make a trip of it.

Hi 2 years ago DS got placed from reserve list , (to white bear although covid pulled it half way ) it was 2 or 3 weeks I think. It was his first time and I'd just booked one of the courses, they let me transfer the fees across .

Thank you @Quitelikeacatslife that's helpful.
