Ok, I know we technically haven't finished 2022 yet as there is still the Christmas Concert for some (my ds is not taking part due to his conservatoire concert) but NYMT have released details of their 2023 season & auditions here

My DS has been cast in Merrily, which is great. Although we are back in the waiting room waiting on NYT results which come out in May!

I'd love to know the experienced peoples opinions on this too? Is a workshop with NYMT as beneficial as a production with BYMT for creativity etc? Thank you @Biscuitsneeded for explaining some of this to me! Its great to have your insight and views.

Hello my DD is 14 and it was her first time auditioning...she got recalls but didn't get in this time, which is fine..many more years left to apply again!
Can I ask what everyone's opinion is on the Easter/summer non auditioned residential workshops? Are they a good introduction to NYMT? Thanks

@Onedaymore123 yes they are. They are great fun and often lead to being cast in future productions. I’m considering one for dd this year but not decided yet.
Well done to your dd for getting through to recalls- 14 is a difficult casting age in NYMT so she’s done well

@Alakazam8 I think I saw that your DC took part in the New Musical workshop last year? Would you recommend or would you think doing a full show with another group would benefit them better. The workshop sounds like a great experience though.

@Shesings2023 no she was in Nymt in concert last year, hasn’t done the workshop so I can’t help really there. Others here have dc who have done workshop. I would say it would depend on the offering from another group and what suits your dc more.

Congratulations to all those who got in, especially those who've been waiting 3 years for KMK! And a huge "on to the next project" for those who didn't get good news yesterday.

And for those of us still in the waiting room for BYMT, is it to early for biscuits? Probably another couple of weeks of this... better reinforce this very comfy sofa I've been sat on since the beginning of the month.

Hi everyone, I’m really thankful I found this thread! I’m learning lots. Question for those with experience. My DS is going to be in Kiss Me Kate. Having had chance to go back through the recall information, there were 36 characters listed. The character he has been offered is not on the list. Do they send out any more information before the residential? He’s just wondering whether he needs to be prepared before they start. Can anyone help? TIA

Hi @Operasingerkath ! Don’t worry, you/DS (depending on age) will get a link to a Facebook group where the creatives will give them all the info they need before the Easter. They usually get a script and some guidance beforehand. Is he on the KMK WhatsApp group yet? They seem to have already got over 30! He can ask them too-lots of them have done NYMT (and almost KMK) before and would be happy to help I’m sure.

Thank you so much, @minimits. He didn’t know about the WhatsApp group. If I pm you his number, would your DC be able to invite him? I’m not sure how to find it otherwise. It should settle his nerves a bit if he can get to know some of them before he starts.

Just to add to the above in case anyone is worried their DC hasn't been invited to any snapchat groups, these are nothing official and just something the kids themselves have set up if they know anyone else cast in their show. They will then add people as and when they find out about them, so if not before, all DC can ask to be added at Easter. It's usually just idle chat and silliness - anything important that they NEED to know about from NYMT will be sent via email or posted in the official Facebook group for the show, which they will be invited to once all cast members/band members/crew etc are fully confirmed. KMK will have a fair few people who have done NYMT before and so they may have taken the initiative. As far as my DS is aware there isn't an Armchair chat group (yet) as many of the cast are quite young.

@NotEvenSlightlyReasonable Sorry your message got lost amid the flurry of NYMT-related posts. How's the waiting going? I hope the sofa is comfy and the biscuits are at least M&S quality. Have BYMT said what their shows are yet? Or given any indication on when you might hear?

Biscuits and sofa are both excellent (thank you for sharing). Just as well, as I reckon I've got another couple of weeks here... I'm really not good at waiting; the twitch is becoming pronounced. As opposed to DD who seems to have completely moved on and forgotten about it. She was a bit vague about shows, she loved the sound of a dystopian Hansel and Gretel but couldn't remember much about the others. I think regardless of this year's outcome I'll encourage her to try out for both programmes next year, the more I hear the better they sound.

Hello all - so back to the waiting room it is for BYMT.

Does anyone know which dates/weeks over the Easter hols BYMT will be running for successful DC ?

@MxPickles I don't know if it's changed since my DS did it but the first rehearsal period for BYMT used to be the May half-term not Easter. But it may well be different now!

Have been lurking for a while but joined so I could reply. Congrats to all the NYMT performers. My daughter was a no for that, but we are firmly in the BYMT waiting room now. Pass the gin.

My sons early sessions for BYMT were in May half term. Not all shows had the early sessions- some were just in the summer. But it may change this year- it’s unusual not to have all the show details by now on the webpage. They may be finalising venues etc.
