Ok, I know we technically haven't finished 2022 yet as there is still the Christmas Concert for some (my ds is not taking part due to his conservatoire concert) but NYMT have released details of their 2023 season & auditions here

Dd left lower school 5 years ago so it is a bit out of date but the intention is for the majority of MDS awards to be given to Year 7 and they keep them until Year 11.

When dd began there the were about 7 Year 7 children with MDS. However in Year 10 there was an influx of new children (some who had been assessed out of other schools) and I know several of those were given MDS awards. When dd left year 11 there were about 12 MDS awards to go back into the pot for the following year.

We were always told that whilst priority went to year 7 an award could be given to a child in any year group. Auditionees were given a score and awards were given from top to bottom.

DD2 offered workshop, and DD3 offered Concert. Still waiting for DD1 and my nerves are officially shot….. no biscuits are going to fix this

Most of the people I have spoken to have said the same that things are running differently now due to new management. The new process seems to be completely unknown.

I thought DD would have to go to an audition for MDS but that doesn't seem to be the case for anyone any longer. We have just been asked to provide financials.

There doesn't seem to be a MDS round - they just are considering everyone from the first round and the financials supplied from what I can tell ... I may well be wrong though!

Ah your poor nerves. Well done DD2 and DD3, it sounds to me like they have done the no's and are sending out workshop/concert before moving on to shows? Am I reading to much in to everything? Certainly sounds like no news is good news right now though x

The recalls emails came out at an odd time on Sunday if I remember rightly (I know it was a time I wasn't expecting to hear anything)

Pure conjecture but I would think they would get them all out of the way in one go?
