Ok, I know we technically haven't finished 2022 yet as there is still the Christmas Concert for some (my ds is not taking part due to his conservatoire concert) but NYMT have released details of their 2023 season & auditions here

mailchi.mp/nymt/nymt-2022-season-announcement-5919443?fbclid=IwAR2nM_B-gUzYyvEzUTMDFUt2c4RiuW5ElKjmdxG6qJIgIPS2W6owl8GY7NY

Good luck everyone whose dc are applying this year

Yes @yodaforpresident she might well do- going to hang off for BYMT results first and then look at options.

Triflefan · 23/02/2023 12:54

Sorry to hear that @Alakazam8 and @wonderfullife123
Hopefully they can now make plenty of summer plans though.
I'm not even asking DS yet.
He's just messaged to say how much fun his Jazz class was this morning so I daren't ask him to check his emails

Biscuitsneeded · 23/02/2023 12:56

Sorry to hear about the nos. I hope the DC are OK about it and not too disappointed. Emails go to DS now so I will have to hope Ds will keep me informed.

I'm topping up the biscuits AND the gin.

Comefromaway · 23/02/2023 12:59

sorry to hear about the nos.

So sorry for those who’ve received the nos so far. This is torture- currently on holiday for my birthday and the news could make or break the celebrations! Crossing fingers for everyone.

MxPickles · 23/02/2023 13:35

Ah I've been watching this thread silently and keeping everything crossed for you. Sorry to hear about the no's.

I heard a really great phrase about sometimes you dont book the job because you weren't right for it, but the most important thing is that you booked the room. So well done to all who have recalled and as I remind my kiddo each audition is unlocking a door way down the road you don't even know about yet!

Who is left still waiting for NYMT news, and who is in the BYMT waiting room? ( We did BYMT last weekend)

yodaforpresident · 23/02/2023 13:44

Still waiting here for NYMT and also in the BYMT waiting room - have they finished their auditions yet?

MxPickles · 23/02/2023 13:50

There are no performer dates given on the BYMT website so I think they must be done with those auditions. Musicians are still open though I think.

From what they said at our workshop I am mot expecting to hear anything from BYMT for at least 2 and probably closer to 3 weeks.

Hoping those still waiting are managing the nerves, and that you get the result you hope for x

sleepisoverrated1 · 23/02/2023 13:52

Commiserations to the DCs who've received a no and fingers crossed for both BYMT and NYMT folk still waiting.
@MxPickles, have you heard about your funding for The Hammond yet? Hope you get the news you need! x

wonderfullife123 · 23/02/2023 13:52

Also in waiting room for BYMT - the email from Cerys said beginning of March which could be any time till mid March I guess!!!

Biscuitsneeded · 23/02/2023 13:57

I think he's stopped for lunch. Hope it's a small lunch not requiring a post- prandial nap! And really hoping they won't have to wait till tomorrow for more news...

Mcmumager · 23/02/2023 14:02

Has anyone heard of any yes results? Is it all nos or nothing at the moment?

MxPickles · 23/02/2023 14:04

As DD is wanting to join in year 8 alll MDS funding is already allocated to existing yr 7's.

We have submitted our info for finance consideration and we are waiting for bursary news - although if it isn't ballpark MDS then we can't afford to take up the place as I can't work due to disability.

Thems the breaks I guess, and you have to try to be considered. And also things change all the time so just have to keep turning up and trying out!

Keeping everything crossed for you @MxPickles - you've got to be in it to win it! x

allhailthebrain · 23/02/2023 14:12

I’ve heard of one yes for workshop

Have you seen Squid Game ? Totally random but I am reminded of the Salesman betting people and hitting them in the face if they guess wrong.

The life of a Theatre Mum feels very like this some days - why do we do this to ourselves 😂

@MxPickles I haven't, but yes, so much more rejection than success! For as long as DS feels the successes are worth it we'll continue to tread this path but my word, it's not an easy one!

EmsPinky · 23/02/2023 15:10

@MxPickles i’m still waiting on NYMT do you think they will definitely let everyone know today?

I've no idea sorry - my kiddo wan't at recalls. I do hope everyone does hear today though x

EmsPinky · 23/02/2023 15:17

@MxPickles ahhh I see yes me too x

As DD is wanting to join in year 8 alll MDS funding is already allocated to existing yr 7's.

Also because one terms notice has to be given to leave the school they won't know until Easter exactly how many MDS's they will have to give out. They know how many leaving Year 11's they have which can be allocated to new Year 7's but not the rest of the school.

This is such a helpful comment - Thank you :)

I had incorrectly understood that funding was allocated per year of entry and that MDS couldn't be transferred across year groups. I thought her only chance of getting funding was if someone in the same academic year handed back the award.

This gives me hope because there will almost certainly be some movement of kids who elect to change school for whatever reason - especially at year 9.

Only question this leaves me with - is there any reason why a year 11 award couldn't go to a new year 8 or is it just a common practice to award to year 7's to try ensure an even intake each academic year?

yodaforpresident · 23/02/2023 16:00

DD got a yes for the concert.

Biscuitsneeded · 23/02/2023 16:03

@yodaforpresident yay! Congrats to your DD!
