So, with BYMT auditions already underway and NYMT open for booking, it's surely time for a 2022 thread?? Who's in?

Submitted DD's NYMT actor self-tape and booked her audition today, eek! Need to also get her musician audition recorded this side of Christmas as we go on hols on 27th and she's back to school on 4/5th (PCR dependent 🙈)

Back for more hellish waiting this year after success last year. DD had the time of her life last year with NYMT - and therefore its way harder this year. Last year it was just something that might be fun to do... this year, it's the only thing to live for 😩

Hi! Does anyone know what the showcase entails? DC worried that it’s something inferior to the musicals.

Welcome back @Jamsanmum. I see you did the sensible thing and held off joining this stressful waiting room until the last minute! Hope your daughter enjoyed her zoom today. I totally agree, the stakes get so much higher once they've had a taste! Fingers crossed for news very quickly, and for it to be good.

@dancingclassicist well done again to your daughter, then! I do think zoom can be something of a lottery, but it sounds as if they have well and truly spotted her talent this time around. In answer to your question about whether two recalls means a better chance than one, I think yes and no! No, because 2 recalls doesn't mean they think you're more talented than someone who has one. Someone with one could be phenomenal and just absolutely right for the one show they are recalled for. I guess having 2 recalls just means they can see where you would fit in two shows, which is kind of down to chance depending on the shows they are doing each year. But yes, because you've got two bites at the cherry. If one team decides you're not suitable, the other team might still want you. So it's a nice position to be in, but not necessarily a sign that you're a shoo-in.

@LaV1eBoheme they haven't said too much about the showcases but honestly, if DC gets the chance, I'd take it. It might not be a full week of shows but it will be a great experience and still only for those who have auditioned successfully. If they are like the gala concert they did in 2016 the team who do the showcases will be on stage a lot and individuals will get a chance to shine as well as in ensemble numbers. This is my personal opinion, obviously, but anything done by NYMT will be very good and the DC will still get the residential, the input from industry professionals, the buzz of performing and you never know NYMT might rope in some alumni to really give them star appeal! A lot of current MT stars are happy to say that NYMT gave them their start...

I think the showcases will be fantastic and like @Biscuitsneeded DD would snap up the opportunity if offered!! Plus you never know who will spot something in them and remember it for future years...

@Biscuitsneeded Thankyou! I’m surprised DC got a recall at all to be honest as zoom audition didn’t go particularly well. I’ve heard such wonderful things about NYMT and ultimately to be part of it in any capacity, if lucky enough, would be great. I think the fear was the showcase isn’t as grand as the shows. So then I started wondering if I’d want to progress since the cost isn’t small.

The showcases tipped the balance for me for encouraging dd to audition this year. She’s still very young so I was concerned that there wouldn’t be suitable parts for her with the shows they had chosen for this year.
I would definitely want dd to take it if she got a showcase, just for the experience and the things she could learn from it.

Reassuring to know from those with experience of NYMT that it will be good to go ahead if chosen! Thanks so much. :)

Evening all! I can’t believe I forgot about this thread.
Here we’re go again!
DS is auditioning tomorrow. What with drama school auditions we’re w bit late to the party this year.
Apparently Tuesday is the longest anyone will wait though.

I’m enjoying red wine to numb the wait.

I'm not waiting as DS as his news but I had some gin out of solidarity with all those still waiting.

@LaV1eBoheme Does your DD's recall state specifically that it's for the showcase concert, or is it for something else and you're just working out what you and she would feel about doing the concerts if asked? I'm just curious as your DD is the first showcase recall we've heard of. Whatever it says, she's done really well to get the recall. I admit I am biased, but NYMT has been such a fantastic part of DS' life and I will always recommend it to young people who have talent.
