So, with BYMT auditions already underway and NYMT open for booking, it's surely time for a 2022 thread?? Who's in?

Submitted DD's NYMT actor self-tape and booked her audition today, eek! Need to also get her musician audition recorded this side of Christmas as we go on hols on 27th and she's back to school on 4/5th (PCR dependent 🙈)

@Jamsanmum have you heard back yet? Sorry if I’ve somehow missed your reply on the thread.
Can anyone with experience tell me what, if anything the dc do in the evenings at the Easter rehearsals. Dd is asking…

They rehearse! They stop at around 9pm usually and head back to the accommodation. But they will have down time at moments too when for example they're not in the number that's being rehearsed, and they have some fun then.

Hi. Waiting to hear from BYMT as my DS started with White Bear last summer which got cut short because of covid. He doesn't need to audition (and we can't do the rescheduled white bear dates) so waiting for him to be slotted in. Anyone else in this position?

I hope everyone now knows the position with NYMT and is happy? How many BYMT shows have people heard news from? @Quitelikeacatslife I think I might be tempted to mail BYMT and remind them to keep a place somewhere for your DS so they don't forget about him!

Offers from both NYMT last week, and from BYMT today. Unfortunately they clash with each other.

Heart is with NYMT and that's where it will be headed to, unless BYMT offer something else which fits in with that.

@allhailthebrain That's great news! I'm sure you could ask BYMT if they would move your DS to another show - they seem happy to do that usually, or at least they offered it to me once when DS had already committed to NYMT, but we couldn't afford both. All you need now is NYT for a clean sweep! (Although doing all 3 probably not possible...)

We had a weird turn of events - what I thought was sent in error was actually an offer from NYMT. Having already accepted a BYMT show we’ve had to decline but nice boost to be included.

Anyone still waiting for news?

@Mcmumager that's lovely! Though I really have to feel for those who got an outright no, when they hear about people who didn't even audition getting an offer, if that makes sense? Well done to yours for two offers :)

@Biscuitsneeded they seemed disappointed he couldn't do it but have only mentioned a reserve list. Weird as we know the show in the north isn't full, since their easter course includes an audition for that show! And yes, we are from around there! As for NYT - technically with the right BYMT offer you could do all 3 but I'm not sure it's wise, maybe I'm being a wuss lol!

I think, all things being equal, if NYT was a yes the decision would be NYMT and NYT. But their results come so late it's impossible to make it all fit properly as you have to commit to the other two months prior...

Finally heard… She’s got the part of Storyteller in A Kiss for Cinderella. Who would believe it!!

Having seen social media I’m wondering if your Dd goes to the same school that my dd left last year.

@allhailthebrain that's a shame BYMT didn't immediately reallocate your DS to a show with dates that work, but give it a few weeks - they still might well!
It might seem unfair that someone can be offered a place in NYMT when they weren't at recalls, but as we know, it's always, always about fit as well as talent. If a tall, dark-haired, slender 20 year old tenor with a mega voice declines a place, they can't just offer that place to a short, stocky, blond baritone who's really a dancer, for example, just because he impressed at recalls but didn't end up cast. They'll have gone back to the self tapes to see who might fit, and that means sometimes it isn't apparently very fair, but they always want to do the best thing for the show.

@Biscuitsneeded You're absolutely right and I understand all of that. I'm just thinking of the people I know who have had an outright no and the people I've heard of who have had an offer with no recall. I know of matches within those. There seems to have been some odd things go on with the casting process behind the scenes this year vs. the last few and I guess I'm just feeling bad for those who may now feel upset by this (none of this affects us, to be clear, but we do know people who it has).

I am glad so many on here have had positive responses from one or the other organisation

So heard today that our son got into BYMT to their Terra Nova production in August. Happy child! I hope all of you that are waiting here soon.
