I've said all along Johnno is not the coach, he has no experience or qualifications and it really shows. The coaching team needs to be looked at as they are just not delivering results. Again it is the old leicester connection with Rowntree and the other guy. If Johnno wants to gets some experience in get Eddie jones from Saracens, when he joined the S. African set up he turned them around and they ended up winning the world cup

Not a Tigers fan, then BGD

Agree that it was a bit that he was given basically the biggest coaching job in the country without ever having proved his coaching ability ... but I don't say that out loud 'round here

Thing is - can't believe I'm agreeing with Eddie Butler - no matter how much you coach players, you can't do anything about moments of madness like when Tait didn't pass to Flutey or when Care lost his mind ...

Hi Tigers, funnily enough although having played the game for nearly 30 years, I never really supported a team. The nearest to me is Blackheath and I hated them as when we played them they were so arrogant so to think I would support them when my playing days are over? Fat chance!! And guess what my nearest team is over an hour away at harlequins! Not an easy trip really.
I went to Northampton early this season when they played Wasps and was really impressed, a lovely crowd and the slience when kickers were taking their kicks was beautiful. I'm sure Welford road is the same.
I still do not understand why Hodson is not fly half, I know he is a crap takler but when England bring Goode on when we are behind (though fair play he made that try at the end) you want a playmaker not a kicker. It seems starnge that Sale one of the best clubs in the country can play with him but England cannot?
I take you point about the passing etc but Engalnd are devoid of ideas, set plays and the like and that makes me wonder about the coaching set up.
How are Leiceester doing thiis season? Is their squad getting old now or not?

Well, Tigers have had better seasons ... we're currently 6th (but that's not including this weekend's fixtures) I'm not too worried about getting into the play-offs as long as we finish in the top 6 to make sure we're in the Heineken Cup next season ... unlesss we win it this year of course

Franklins Gardens is a great ground. We used to live very near there and DH often went to matches when his season-ticket-holding friends had a spare seat going ... but that's something else we don't say aloud 'round here!! Welford Road is something special (and, yes I would say that) ATM we're having loads of building work done which will make it almost twice as big and quite spectacular!

You sound like my Dad WRT the club thing - he loves rugby as a sport but has never followed a team. He says it stops him from being affected by politics ... he can appreciate the England team/coaches simply on their performance without any 'baggage'. I think he has a point but I like following a team week-in-week-out and am finally close enough to Leicester to be able to justify having a season ticket (I've supported them for about 15 years but only moved back here 4 years ago).

Anyway. Bring on the French I say

TigersEnglandChick · 01/03/2009 08:46

Meant to also say - LOL @ Tigers getting old - we were a few seasons ago but we've got loads of young talent coming thru. There are also a fair few 'international' players which raises a few eyebrows but we'r enot yet in the league of Sarries or Wasps.

And ... I don't know why Hodgeson is out of favour at the minute. I think he was injured for a while and never came back into the set-up.

BigGitDad · 01/03/2009 15:20

You see that shows how out of touch I am about the age of Leicesters team. I would love to follow a team and support them but maybe when my youngest if he gets interested then I will start the travelling.
Hodgson had a bad tour of New Zeaaland last summer his defence was atrocious and Johnson droped him on that basis and it looks like he is completely out of favour.
As for the French I think I might wince at that one, lets hope the poor French team turn up!

Ooh. All gone a bit quiet 'round here, hasn't it...?

Didn't see either of the games yesterday.
DH said that Wales had a lucky escape from humiliation and that the Scotland game was the best of the tournament so far ... so I'll take his word for it

Haven't watched the England game closely - DH is working today so I've got it on tape for this evening - but I was very impressed by what I saw. My dad phoned at half-time and said that the score line flattered England but not having watched it I can't comment ...

Bit of a nothing post really but thought I'd see if anyone was still watching ...
