play 25 full body giant sets- liked this one- normally hate full body.
I think she said intermediate/ advanced for this series just because of the variety of training style involved. Those who have done the epics especially will be very used to this style of training?

For day 23 I did a heat glutes and hammies.
a lot of people always cry murder at every new session. They have been doing it for years- tbh they had a right to with the epics!😂 a lot of the people on fb will not be familiar with the longer sets endurance style training which play is primarily. It is not the same as heavy lifting. I love it the most though and I feel I get the best results with this style of training. It also keeps me coming back- this is the first series since PE that has kept my interest.
I also think it is better for overall strength and fitness. I am not chasing popeye size muscles though.

@BigButtonsmy problem with Play is that it is similar to the Epics in content, but not nearly as endurance focused as the rest periods are a lot longer. 20 seconds in most epics except Endgame,if I remember correctly and 30 seconds minimum, often 45 in Play

BigButtons · 06/02/2026 18:56

@samthebordercollie I agree completely. I have paid for the app so feel I should use it. Come September - unless some major shift happens- I will not renew and will go back to the epics.

I was looking through Epic 3 to find an upper body workout and she was using just 15kg and 8kg weights, 15kg for shoulder presses and bent over rows, with just 20 seconds of rest 😱🥵she really was a machine then!

Yeah- and it was not sustainable for joint and tendon health long term.
She has learned that she can get amazing results safely at lower weights. She has often said that she never lifts at ‘ capacity’ any more. She doesn’t need to.

@BigButtonsI agree with you and her on that! I’m not interested in gaining more muscle, just maintaining now.

Me too- just want to maintain functional strength 🙂

Oof, a stream of 25-30 different selfies posts raving about Day 25 of Play battering you in the face when you log into Facebook today. It had been pretty quiet then BAM! Agree with you both- Play has good variety, but the extended rest times make it generally easier.

I currently have weights at 7kg and 10kg and wondering if it's useful to get 8kg or 9kg ones as an in-between weight. 🤔

Gobacktotheworld2 · 07/02/2026 04:05

Happy Saturday, all! I did my all-time favourite of her workouts full body split day 1 aiming for this to be the heaviest day of the week, but my glutes were unexpectedly sore from that Chris and Edi one, so I went lower than Caroline in a lot of the lower body stuff as the workout wore on.
RDL- barbell 45kg; chest press 2 x 17kg; glute bridge - barbell 55kg; pullover 17kg; squats 2 x 15kg; shoulder press 2 x 10kg (hard after the chest press and pullover prefatigued the shoulders); lunges 2 x 12.5kg; back rows 1 x 20kg; lat raises and rear delt flyes 2 x 5kg. Lunges at 12.5kg are comfortable now but my knees are still a world away from accepting the weights some of you and Caroline can manage on those. The finisher (dolphin to plank and side to side planks) is still so hard. My shoulders are shrieking by the halfway point.

Brilliant workout. Probably gonna have a more CG-focused week this coming week based around this series and cardio, unless Play throws up something too intriguing to pass over again.

@TessTickle0 we've had ours for a few years now but the tools/upgrades still arrive regularly. It would drive me mad if I wasn't benefitting from it. His latte art is top grade, too.

It's too faffy for me, when he's not here I drink tesco instant 😂

I recommend a coffee grinder and a cafetière…

BigButtons · 07/02/2026 08:13

@Gobacktotheworld2 those are great weights- very impressive! Why do you need extra weights?

I did another Heather Robertson power hour this morning. Just imagining the reaction if CG put moves like curtsey to squat jump on CGX. They’d go mad with gushing over how original/clever/inspired it was 😁one move was standing tricep press, where one hand held the weight and put it behind the head. I’d never seen that before but seemed to target the same muscles as a skull crusher - except I had to use a lighter weight! Couldn’t do it with 6kg!

BigButtons · 07/02/2026 09:28

@Minesril she had so many more interesting move variations in the epics didn’t she?

Absomutely, I wish I had your upper body strength! 17kg for chest presses is super impressive!

samthebordercollie · 07/02/2026 09:34

@MinesrilCG often does a standing overhead tricep press like this, or sitting. I like this move a lot and often do it instead of supine tricep presses

Minesril · 07/02/2026 10:50

CG usually uses both hands though, this was only one hand which felt a lot more challenging!

BigButtons · 07/02/2026 14:18

There was one session in unleash where she did a one handed pullover. It was great. Not seen it since.

@samthebordercollie I nearly always just do Tate presses when she does skull crushers etc. I prefer how they build muscle on me.

I have only just got round to doing Day16 unilateral Quads today.
Jesus Christ I found it super hard, I started with my 7.5kgs, dropped to my 6kg then thought "Fuck this" and did the remaining 60% bodyweight.
I shall never do that one again.

She did one handed pullovers quite often in PE and Intent too

BigButtons · 07/02/2026 17:55

Or was great. Actually the app iron was too- I hated the you tube one🥱

Gobacktotheworld2 · 07/02/2026 21:02

@Minesril those one handed overhead triceps extensions that Heather does are pure evil!

Fibrous · 08/02/2026 09:13

@Gobacktotheworld2 those are inspirational weights.

@TessTickle0 play 16 is one of the (many) I’ve missed. Think I’ll keep it that way!

I did play 25 this morning, full body. It was enjoyable enough. Radcliffe and Maconie on bbc 6 kept me entertained. Dogs have patiently sat on the sofas watching me so I’m gonna take them out for a big walk now before the rain sets in. Enjoy yours Sundays, all!

BigButtons · 08/02/2026 14:21

I wanted to like today’s quad day but it was tedious as fuck- I had to skip some sets as I was crying with boredom. The endless repetition. There are so many quad exercises she could have chosen like wall sits and step ups. Just why?
