I love running in the rain, Bogoff! I actually saw the gp today about my total lack of energy (and a laundry list of other symptoms) so she's happy to prescribe me hrt, thank god. Fingers crossed I'll be running again soon. In the meantime I went for a hill walk with the dog dig this morning.

I did a speed reps session a couple of months ago, thought it was going to be wet, but the sun came out as I started, warming up immediately and turning the air disgustingly soupy and humid. I think that's my worst weather other than very strong winds.

BogRollBOGOF · 19/09/2023 16:19

DOMS. Oh the DOMS.
Circuits class done anyway, but fookin'ell the DOMS.

Looks like today's been my driest workout of the week!

MotherForkinShirtBalls · 19/09/2023 21:09

Really busy day but got a class in. Instructor gave out to me for not squatting deeply enough. Apparently needing to be able to get back up with 40kg on my back wasn't excuse enough Blush

welp, I got some unwelcome news. Got this message by WhatsApp from the gym owner.

"I have been looking at your body combat classes and I can see we just aren’t getting the numbers at the moment compare] d to when {previous instructor} does a class. With this in mind I have asked {previous instructor} take the Thursday classes and we will cancel the other. I hope you understand that we need to get the gym firing on all cylinders now we are going into the winter months.
Many Thanks for all your support here.

from all at the [redacted] team."

I'm really sad about that. {previous instructor} and I were only discussing this on Monday - our plan was she comes to (what I at that point assumed was) my class on Thursday (tomorrow) to participate and get in the groove. I am still apparently down to teach tomorrow night, but I don't even know for sure. I've asked them to let me know which forthcoming classes, if any, they want me to teach - and the answer was 'thanks'.

Like... some rough bedside manner this manager got.

BogRollBOGOF · 20/09/2023 10:31

That's rubbish Bez 😔

ShadyPaws · 20/09/2023 11:25

That's a horrible way to treat you Bez Flowers

Going for a pool swim shortly. I'm sore after last night's squats.

thanks guys, appreciate the sympathy.

I just did Pilates with one of the instructors who left the gym during the shut down, we had a chat after, she was lovely about everything.

roonetta · 20/09/2023 18:33

I would be interested to hear how you get on with the hrt Motherforkin. Think I will be going down that route soon.

That's rubbish Bez. Shit way to treat someone who stepped up when they needed cover 😡. Are there any other gyms you could work at, or maybe hire a hall?

For the Les Mills stuff, there's another gym on craggy island, but it's around an hour away. So not viable to take 3 hours time out and get paid for 1 hour.
I'm going to do my last class or two, and then shake it off. I'm really sick about how it went down and sad to be no longer teaching BC but it is what it is. I don't even know if the gym wants me to do cover. Well they can ask and find out if I'm up for that (current answer includes the words "stick your twenty quid").

I have my boxercise quals so can teach that from the social club or church halls etc. It's a lot more work but potentially much more lucrative.

I was delighted with my swim yesterday, my shoulder held up. Gym this evening and I think I already have doms.

It'll be about 2 weeks before I start the hrt, Roonetta, but I'll happily keep you posted. I can't wait to be sunshine personified 😂

I toyed with the idea of swimming today but DH was feeling chatty. He'd flown back late last night so had a leisurely start and was quite loquacious. I got a long run in. That went pretty smoothly considering my legs are feeling somewhat knackered.

I think I'll swap my long run around next week, do it early in the week, then do my harder technical run later in the week. Next week is highest milage on my plan before I start tapering. Really looking forwards to tapering!

BezMills · 22/09/2023 20:02

@BogRollBOGOF it is a special feeling when you get to tapering time, well done!

I did pilates on weds, taught my penultimate class thursday and my last one today. Mixed emotions!

Anyway, 133!

Shadypaws23 · 23/09/2023 12:29

30 min 2000s spin

Real struggle bus today but it's done, now need to do a 10 min stretch!

MotherForkinShirtBalls · 23/09/2023 12:35

Bogoff, sorry, I know I should know but I can't remember - what are you training for?

Gym today. Stupidly convoluted routine not helped by the instructor's instructions!

Tapering is reducing milage before a race so that you're freshly rested by race day. I've got a half-marathon in a few weeks, so I'm at peak milage now and will make the runs shorter and gentler in the two weeks before.

Last week was really hard going. I've switched the order of runs this week, so I don't spend the rest of the week going "oof" every time I move 😂

Circuits class done today. I felt surprisingly fresh and energetic today.

roonetta · 27/09/2023 13:50

Thanks Bogroll. In that case, enjoy the calm before the storm!

Niggling low back and hip pain for the last couple of days (brought on by a massive decluttering session at the weekend), so I did a WWL.

Any tips on how to ease it greatly appreciated. I have done the usual yoga and stretches which usually knocks it on the head, but nothing seems to be helping.

In an attempt to make myself exercise I have joined the beginners running group at work. Today is the second consecutive week I’ve been out with them at lunchtime.
