Starting back, Accountability thread

Hi, I'm looking to start exercising again. I was doing really well until December last year, when I got injured, stopped exercising and put all the weight back on.

I'm currently 14st 4lbs 9oz and my aim is 9st 7lbs.

I can swim regularly, I have a cross trainer, and weights. I can walk trails each morning. But I'm thinking of starting c25k again. This will probably be the 4th time I've done it, I got up to 1/2 marathon distance previously, but what is putting me off is that its really hilly around my house I llive in now and I hate an incline 😂

Theres no parkrun where I live.

Is anyone else starting back and want to join me for accountability?

I take a multivitamin too @MaybeC25Kagain, plus an iron tablet (had very low iron levels after the DC were born, and kept up the habit of taking them) and a cod liver oil tablet for my old and creaking joints

I think I will look into HRT as well given my perimenopause symptoms, very heavy AF etc. Like you though I wanted a good 'healthy' spate before trying to action anything, and it never seems to happen Blush

Definitely look into it @MissAmyPond

I was lucky that my GP is a menopause specialist, I had an ultrasound that showed atrophied ovaries, my bloods (FSH etc) were all not where they should be, so she put me straight on HRT. Its the lowest dose, and I might see about going up a level, but the brain fog I had has pretty much gone, that was my main symptom, although I did have whayt I now think was a hot flush once just before starting, so they were probably going to start. I know people have trouble getting HRT prescribed but she gave it to me straight away. I am 42 though and they diagnosed it as premature ovarian failure, so basically premature meno - my bloods and length of time between periods was indicating I was post meno at that point - And I have to have paid for healthcover here in spain so they give you what you want anyway, and you can buy HRT over the counter here without a prescription so I could level up the dose myself but I wanted blood tests etc first and to discuss it with the GP.

Ok I'm ready to start again, I'm going to aim for 30mins of something every day, starting with w1,r1 (again) today.

Are you any better yet @MissAmyPond ?

I'm better thank you @MaybeC25Kagain but just ridiculously short of time! Have to get the DC to different holiday clubs in the mornings, go to work, pick up from different clubs, feed kids, make endless bloody packed lunches and do the washing etc, then collapse into bed far too late. DP is out of the house by 6am and not back till 9pm usually so it's all on me Sad I will definitely look at the HRT issue when I get chance though, thank you for that.

I have a feeling I'll be back to W1R1 too when I finally get chance to run again Shock

MaybeC25Kagain · 09/08/2023 13:51

@MissAmyPond Just do what you can for now and get back to it when the holidays are over, that might be a better plan?

I've been taking it easier because of the heat, its at least 30 degrees every day now and I haven't been sleeping til about 3am, then up again early. I'm going to do what I can for now and then hit it hard in September once it starts to cool down a bit, thats all people do here. All work stops, most exercise classes are off, or very early in the morning, it all comes to a bit of a standstill in August here 😂

Can I join please! I have completed run 2 week 5 and Friday is the big 20 mins!

MaybeC25Kagain · 10/08/2023 10:09

Well done, and good luck for it!

I decided to do 30 mins of something else, indoors until its cooler, and then I'll start c25k when I can run outside. September.

For now, I've got a crosstrainer, a pool, a twist disc, weights & kettlebell, skipping rope.
