Starting back, Accountability thread

Hi, I'm looking to start exercising again. I was doing really well until December last year, when I got injured, stopped exercising and put all the weight back on.

I'm currently 14st 4lbs 9oz and my aim is 9st 7lbs.

I can swim regularly, I have a cross trainer, and weights. I can walk trails each morning. But I'm thinking of starting c25k again. This will probably be the 4th time I've done it, I got up to 1/2 marathon distance previously, but what is putting me off is that its really hilly around my house I llive in now and I hate an incline 😂

Theres no parkrun where I live.

Is anyone else starting back and want to join me for accountability?

I couldn't go running tonight as DP was working... instead the DC & I enjoyed the air conditioned delights of Tesco Grin

Tomorrow they are in breakfast club so I'll do W5R3 then. DTS1 would NOT go to sleep though so I foresee a very grumpy little boy in the morning!

MaybeC25Kagain · 22/06/2023 08:26

W1r2 done! And a 30min swim.

I worked out a bit of a better route today so feel more confident for next time.

What pee'd me off though was Spotify playing 2-3 adverts after every song. I'm not paying a tenner a month for premium though so I'll have to live with it I suppose 🙄

Well done on the run & swim @MaybeC25Kagain ! Yes, really annoying about Spotify - they do offers occasionally where it's 3 months of Premium for £10 or similar, do you ever get those?

I did a long (for me!) run earlier - ran 5 minutes/ walked/ ran 16 minutes/ walked/ ran 5 minutes. That was before 8am when it was a bit cooler and I still look like a beetroot even now 😂

MaybeC25Kagain · 22/06/2023 11:53

Well done.

Yes I get those offers occassionally, I used one not so long ago so I probably won't get another one soon.

Well done both! Sadly I’m not a morning person so I’m going to go for a run this evening and I’m doing some yoga on my lunch break now. I always aim to get up early then end up snoozing my alarm 😂

Apparently you can get 4 months of Amazon music free if you have Amazon prime. Don’t know how good it is though!

Still trying to make better choices food wise but I think I need to get better at drinking more water too so that’s todays mission

MissAmyPond · 23/06/2023 00:00

@dreaminginrainbows my DC have a sports club tomorrow so in theory I can do another run then (I'm 2 runs behind the rest of the group!), but it's at 4pm and is still supposed to be really hot Sad

I do manage to get up at a reasonable time in the summer, but in the winter when it's freezing cold it's a struggle to say the least...!

MaybeC25Kagain · 23/06/2023 09:16

@dreaminginrainbows well done on the yoga! I still haven't started. I'm going to get into the swing of running again and then add that in maybe by the end of next week.

@MissAmyPond I hate getting up in the winter, I read once that a good trick is to sleep in your running gear, then you've got no excuse, I did it once and it did actually work😂

OP posts:
MissAmyPond · 23/06/2023 11:11

@MaybeC25Kagain I think I'd find that a bit uncomfortable, my sports bra is worn for the bare minimum of time required Grin but I do put my kit right next to me so it looks at me accusingly when I wake up!

MissAmyPond · 23/06/2023 23:22

I managed to do my run today during the DC's sports club but it was TOUGH. I was beetroot again for quite a while!

Are you still going with the yoga @dreaminginrainbows ?

dreaminginrainbows · 24/06/2023 17:22

Yes still persevering with the yoga @MissAmyPond although I’m most definitely not a natural 😂

I’ve skipped a run today though because it’s 28 degrees and I think that might finish me off haha

How are you both getting on? @MaybeC25Kagain @MissAmyPond

MaybeC25Kagain · 24/06/2023 23:38

I did my 'run' in the pool today. I walked from one side to the other and ran on the spot really fast, with high knees for the running parts.

I'm probably going to have to do that more as it gets hotter.

Please can I join. I’m coming back to working out after having my baby. My daughter is 20 months, I have started working out several times since she was born but not found my mojo.
before pregnancy my workouts were cycling, running and the occasional Hiit workout. I maintained a weight around 10st (I’m 5ft 1)
today I weigh 11stone 11lbs and I feel myself expanding daily.
I don’t have the patience to follow the c25k but I am aiming to be back running 5k by mid august.
I’m hoping to lose 2 stone and get to a healthier bmi, feel better in my clothes and set a good example to my daughter.

MaybeC25Kagain · 26/06/2023 09:36

👋@Kona84

I didn't get up early and go for my run this morning. Im going to do it in the pool again this evening. I burnt my bum and stomach yesterday, trying to even up my tan so I'm not wearing tight leggings for a bit 🙄😂 Fuck knows why I thought it would be a good idea, those bits have never seen the light of day ffs. And I'm not normally bothered by tanning, I stay out of the sun usually because of getting wrinkled. It's not too bad, just slightly sore so hopefully it will be alright soon.

After my daughter has finished her contact nap I’ll be off for a run. I managed 1 mile last week with walking and running.
today is to increase the running sections and spend 30 mins outdoors.

hopefully she wakes before the school run is on - don’t want to scare the kiddos

MaybeC25Kagain · 27/06/2023 09:55

I did w2,r1 yesterday, but in the pool again, I couldn't be bothered to go out and I think doing it in the water is more of a workout. I don't plan on doing any races and i'm doingit for weight loss so i think i'll probbaly carry on doing it in the pool from now on, maybe.

Hi @Kona84 👋

Running in the pool is such a good idea @MaybeC25Kagain! I did week 2 run 1 yesterday and it was ridiculously warm! Today I’ve woken up feeling like I’ve been hit by a bus and I’ve tested positive for Covid so that’s me out for a few days 😵‍💫🤢

On the bright side I weighed myself yesterday and I’ve lost 6lb 🎉

How are you getting on @MissAmyPond?

MaybeC25Kagain · 27/06/2023 10:20

@dreaminginrainbows Oh no, get well soon!

OP posts:
MissAmyPond · 27/06/2023 12:35

Get well soon @dreaminginrainbows Flowers

Pool running is a lovely idea @MaybeC25Kagain! I'm hoping to join a gym (with pool) soon - waiting for my GP appointment next week first, as they mentioned that they might be able to help with cheap membership <crosses fingers>

Hope your run went well @Kona84 !

I finished week 6 of my C25K course today - all I can say is I was VERY thankful that the weather has cooled down a bit - it was 30 min run/ 3 min walk/ 5 min run Shock I did it (I mean verrrrry slowly, but I did it!) but don't think I'd have managed if it was any hotter...

MaybeC25Kagain · 27/06/2023 12:41

Fingers crossed! @MissAmyPond

OP posts:
MissAmyPond · 27/06/2023 12:58

My Plan B is to take out private health insurance and join Posh Gym @MaybeC25Kagain if the GP can't help with cheaper gym membership at Standard Gym (only those two have pools near us) - Posh Gym would actually be easier as there's more for the DC to do there although I may have to win the lottery before I can afford membership

MaybeC25Kagain · 28/06/2023 09:35

I know what yo mean @MissAmyPond I wanted bannatyne memebership but ended up at the council leisure centre, and then DW fitness, which I loved, as it have a steam room and sauna on the pool side.

I have gym membership now, but wasn't going so transferred it to my husband and now prefer doing things at home/with my friend/at the beach.

I was in th epool last night for an hour and a half, doing various exercises and swimming. Woke up achey this morning but I'm ready for w2,r2 this evening 💪

Hows aeveryone else getting on?

w2,r2 last night, in the pool agian. I googled aqua jogging and since I've been doing some of their techniques I can really feel how hard the workout is when I'm doing it.

OP posts:
dreaminginrainbows · 29/06/2023 09:56

Well done @MaybeC25Kagain

I’m feeling slightly better today so may give some yoga a go I think!

Weirdly, I actually miss running!

MaybeC25Kagain · 29/06/2023 10:11

@dreaminginrainbows TY, I know what you mean, I want to run outside but its too hot and I can't really be arsed to go out if I don't have to 😂

Thats good that you are feeling better 👏
